  • Wonderful vacation at Punta Marina

"My group of four recently returned after two weeks at Oscar's condo overlooking beautiful La Ropa beach. All through the process from initial inquiries to follow up after our return, Oscar was extremely helpful and always responded more quickly than expected. During the two week stay, Silvia came twice to clean the condo, change the beds and wash the bath towels. The condo has a magnificent view from both large balconies overlooking the bay. The property is spacious with all three bedrooms having ensuite baths. The kitchen has pretty much everything you need except an oven and dishwasher. There is a washing machine but no dryer in the suite, but since we had sun daily until the last night when it rained, everything dries quickly on the balcony. The property has a very nice pool and waterfall and the grounds are well maintained. There were never more than 6 or so people at the pool and frequently nobody at all. It is very quiet in the evening and you can sit on the balcony and listen to the cicadas chirping at night, with only the occasional band playing off in the distance at one of the local bars. Even then, by about 9 or 10 at night they stopped playing. We were a five minute walk down the hill to La Ropa beach, which is beautiful. It was nice coming down to the beach and finding lots of the local people down there, rather than a beach with only tourists. We enjoyed the seafood platters and margaritas at Restaurant Rossy (they have an expat 'band' playing Thur-Sat on the roof deck) and spent one lunch at La Perla although thought the food was better at other places. If you want more authentic food, find Mary's towards the other end of the beach. You can sit on the sand, or go back to the restaurant tucked in behind. I thought her shrimp tacos were the best. We spent quite a bit of time in town and got there by walking down the hill from the condo to the road by the beach. You will either find a taxi or the bus that goes right into the centre of Zihua to the mercado. You can buy lots of fresh produce and seafood/meats there. From there it is only a three block walk to the mercado artisano along the waterfront. There are lots of vendors in stalls and many artisan shops along the way and many restaurants along the waterfront. We had a couple of meals at La Sirena Gorda and Bandidos and enjoyed them. Overall a fabulous vacation for our group and we would not hesitate to recommend Oscar's condo and Zihuatanejo to others."

  • My new Favourite Place!

"We stayed at Casa Los Amantes for 2 weeks in Feb 2015. From the moment we arrived we knew we landed somewhere special. The huge palapa living area is spectacular and we never tired of looking at it. The kitchen has everything you need including Koozies for your cold drinks however there is not a grill which we usually like to have. The bedrooms with ensuites are all very private and spacious. The master suite on the second floor is amazing with unreal views. All the towels, sheets and pillows are exceptional; most are Ralph Lauren. The wifi was great to have to stay in touch and the TV in the living area was used for watching hockey and worked well with plenty of seating areas. The pool is huge and the floats provided are high end and comfortable. The area around the pool is also very comfortable with plenty of areas to relax. We could walk to the beach in 5 minutes or into Zihua in 10. There are plenty of restaurants within a 5 minute walk. There was daily maid service (Juanita) who quietly went about her business as well as grounds keeper Roque (Rocket) who was happy to help in any way he could getting us bottled water etc. Be sure to check out the Parthenon located directly above the property - very interesting. I would definitely stay here again."

  • Wonderful stay, incredible place...

"This was such an amazingly cool place to spend 5 days (too short; longer next time). Beautifully appointed and with all the modern conveniences. The open-air palapa was amazing, offering stunning views onto the bay, which never failed to bring a little gasp each time you saw it, even if it was the 10th time. Lois was such an accommodating host, who happily answered all my questions, and kept in touch throughout the whole process. Really nice plus was Naty, the friendly woman who came each day to make beds, clean the place up, and even met us with freshly-made salsa and guacamole. They’ll even have beer waiting for you in the fridge if you request in advance, or just for their cost. Beach was just a quick hike down, but understand that it’s a pretty steep climb back to the unit from the beach. If you have any mobility issues or get winded really easily, it might not be ideal. My lady and I are in decent shape, and it definitely got our heart rates up, but in our case, the exercise just helped justify our beer or tequila shot upon arrival…;) Location is at the south end of Playa Ropa, putting you at the far end of the bay, but we never felt out of it. Taxis and colectivos into town are easy to grab by the beach at the end of your hike down, and both are cheap. We usually just took colectivos into town (15 pesos for two people) and taxis back (~35-40 pesos). Be sure to pick up some freshly-made ceviche from the oyster guy who sets up on the beach right at the bottom of your climb down from the villa. I got a “small” order of the incredibly fresh and delicious stuff, which filled a standard-size paper plate (we ate off it for 3 days), and cost 50 pesos (less than $4). Villa Zanzibar is really a very special place. Not your typical condo, but so much richer an experience. Can’t wait to get back there next year for a longer stay!"

  • Great Alternative to Hotel Stay !

"We stayed at Casa Ceiba for almost three weeks and loved the ambiance of the condo property with its quiet courtyard, well maintained pool, lush vegetation, and the congeniality of poolside conversations with other guests and residents. The condo itself has all the amenities necessary for a great holiday, including beach chairs, umbrella, and boogie board. Although the unit opens to both the street and the courtyard, allowing for cross breezes, it was a welcome feature at night to have air conditioning in the bedroom. The kitchen was well equipped for preparing simple meals and there's lots of wonderful food vendors and markets nearby, including one on Saturday mornings offering organic fair. The condo is close to some great restaurants as well, including a wonderful breakfast and lunch spot right across the street. It's an easy walk to Playa Madera and the town centre, but also very convenient to hail a cab on the street corner just outside the condo property. Our hosts, Peter and Carol, were very welcoming; greeting us upon arrival at the condo with cold drinks and lots of helpful information. We would definitely recommend this place to our friends and plan to return to Zihua again."
