  • Punta Marina , Don Francisco Properties

"Spent 10 days here and will do it again, its a quiet and beautiful place with a beautiful view! This is the first time we have stayed in Zihuat, the prior 9 stays have been in Ixtapa with only day and dinner trips to Zihuat. I was a little concerned about changing my vacation routine and I did miss the convenience of the Ixtapa hotels but glad we did it...plenty of room for 3 couples (6 adults). The pool area was quiet and not crowded, didn't have to get up at 5am to 'mark' your chairs at the pool. I had both knees scoped this past year so only went to the beach twice, a 10 min safe walk and you are on La Ropa Beach. Don Francisco, Ophelia and Jesus (night security) took very good care of us, we felt welcome and safe the entire time...we did lock up and used some common sense in our daily ventures but have always been comfortable in the downtown Zihuat area. The one big key to our great week was having Don Francisco line up Rafael Blanco de Aquino, our 'almost 24/7', english speaking, taxi driver. Rafael went way 'up and beyond' in the taxi service, took us shopping, to the market for fresh produce, mini tours as we went from point A to B and was always 15 minutes early on scheduled trips. We went golfing 5 times, Rafael was there at 6:30 am for our 6:45 departure. FIND HIM when you are there, he'll make all the differance in a good vs a fantastic vacation! (And he is a Minnesota Twins/Vikings fan plus he is now our Best Friend in Zihuat.) Tip him well, treat him right, he is a great guy and you'll have a new best friend when you leave too! The Deck on the villa is huge, always some sun and always some shade to sit in, we spent as much time outside as inside. The inside was very clean, nice and comfortable as well. Opelia was available every other day for cleaning service which was 'extra but very reasonable' and worth it. Bring your own beach towels, make sure you have a phone that will work in Mexico...a key to calling Rafael for taxi. The only things missing that we suggested Don Francisco... put in are WiFi, a CD player and a small safe like you'll find in hotels. Even without those we'd still go was that good!"

  • Paradise Found!

"Spyglass sits high on a bluff overlooking the Pacific and a never-ending beach to the west.  It’s a world-class view with some of the most spectacular sunsets you’ll ever see.  That view and the crashing of the surf on the rocks below are present from almost everywhere on the property, and those images and sounds will stay with you long after you’ve left.  We rented in October with a group of 10 friends.  The villa is perfect for getting together for drinks in the bar, playing games in the sala or tv room, having meals together in the dining rooms, or for finding your own private spot for some quiet reading or whatever.  The bedrooms are spacious, comfortable, and nicely air-conditioned.  The two pools are clean and well-situated on the hillside overlooking the ocean.  The salt water pool, just above ocean level and fed by the ocean, is marvelous, with its own bar and two one-bedroom suites nearby for relaxing.  The staff is extraordinary: helpful, friendly, and efficient.  All you need to do is tell them what you need and expect, and it’s done.  We highly recommend Chef Alexandro, He’s a true professional, and he also makes the best margaritas and pina colatas we’ve ever tasted. Beaches are close by, to the north and south of Spyglass.  They are quiet and good for boogy boarding and body surfing.  Zihuateneo and Ixtapa are within an hour’s drive away.  Both places are touristy but fun.  The closest town to the villa is Petatlan, about 20 minutes to the north.  It is authentic Mexico with interesting shops and restaurants.  Fishing is available in a small town half an hour to the south.  Basic, but successful for us at least, as we caught 10 fish in an hour or so. This is an extraordinary property, clearly a personal project of Matthew, the owner, and his care, attention to detail and good taste are evident everywhere.  The house is beautifully constructed and furnished, perfectly situated to take full advantage of the views.  The hillside down to the ocean, with its steps, pools, bars, bathrooms, and bedrooms is just amazing and so much fun.  The grounds are kept beautifully, and the whole place is completely private and safe.  We feel extremely fortunate to have been afforded the opportunity to rent  such a remarkable place. • Christmas 2014

"We have traveled and indeed lived for a while in Mexico. This was the first time back to Zihua in approx 30 years. Of course the condo wasn't there back then, but the old town and original port are largely the same. If you want the feel of old Mexico, this is a great destination. The condo was consistent with its pictures and marketing and served our purposes very well. My criticism pertains to the common amenities - personally, I found the beautiful infinity pools too cold to enjoy and there is no common use jacuzzi. That said, the condo itself was great. Christmas eve, it rained hard. Festivities all across town were canceled. We found the Scrabble game - yeah! The lightning storm was better than any fireworks. We are pretty independent and rarely lean on the help, but they were available if we needed them. Another very positive VRBO experience. Thank you!"

  • Love the condo and Zihua

"Thank you Carol and Peter for you kindness. Le condo est spacieux et très bien situé pour accéder aux plages, à la ville de Zihua ou à un arrêt d'autobus. Il est propre et très bien équipé. Le coin - piscine est extraordinaire et très bien entretenu. Les résidents - propriétaires sont très sympathiques et ils font en sorte que vous vous sentiez chez vous. Et que dire de Zihua, un village de pêcheurs avec une population chaleureuse et un climat parfait."
