  • Vacation in Ajijic

"Thank you very much, Mimi, for allowing us to spend time in your beautiful home. There were three of us so we each had our own room and plenty of space, the gardens surrounding your home are absolutely spectacular, we enjoyed going out in the mornings for coffee and late afternoons for wine. It was a very nice gesture to have fresh flowers throughout the house upon arrival, they held up until we left. My only regret is that we didn't book for a longer stay, one week is too short. We are discussing a return trip next year!"

"My fiance and I wanted to check out the Lake Chapala area because we're considering retiring somewhere in Ajijic or nearby. Our host, Bob, made everything easy, even helped arrange our transportation to and from the Guadalajara airport, helped us rent a car, and made sure we had enough groceries to get started! He pointed out the best areas in which to rent when we relocate, made sure we knew about the organic market and a nearby farmer's market, and advised us about restaurants. (Our only "bad" meal was when we decided to try a nearby restaurant that he didn't recommend!) The casita is beautiful and comfortable, the grounds and mirador captured the gorgeous colors and flowers of Mexico, and the pool was a lovely bonus. The views from the mirador are great, and, one of the best parts of the whole experience, Bob's little Shih Tzu, Lula, who was endlessly entertaining and cuddly! Bob graciously provides knowledge and support as well as delightful conversation by the pool while still affording all the privacy we wanted. Not only did we have a delightful stay, we have made two new friends in Bob and Lula! We would highly recommend this experience to our family and friends."

  • Another Wonderful Escape to Paradise

"This was our 5th year visiting Amy and Aivars in Ajijic, and our first two month vacation ever. It was also our first time driving from Ontario Canada to Ajijic. We had a wonderful time. Amy and Aivars are the perfect hosts, and are always ready to assist with anything that may be needed. When we needed to call home on a land-line phone, they made their personal phone available to us, which was so greatly appreciated. When the weather turned cold in March for three days, firewood was made available for the chiminea to keep us warm in the evenings as we sat outside on the covered patio. The off street parking for the car was also appreciated. Amy makes the best Paella in the village, which we enjoyed for dinner one evening with friends. Aivars is the author of some of the best homemade limoncello jam and beverages you will enjoy anywhere. Lucy and Mona, the two resident Golden Labs, visited with us for every meal which we ate on the covered patio. Should you choose this casita for your vacation, you will not be disappointed. The gardens and beautiful, and songbirds and humming birds are abundant. There are fiestas in the plaza, hiking in the mountains, tianguis market days in Chapala, Ajijic and Jocotopec, trips to Guadalajara and so much more to keep you involved. You can walk is very safe, or take local buses as very reasonable rates. We have booked again for yet another vacation next year."

  • 60th Wedding Anniversary Trip

"My family stayed at the Jewel House in August, Celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. We love the home, all one level, and large bedrooms. The Mexican details in the home are beautiful. Leo our host was very helpful. We took the family to the American legion in Chapala for a barbeque and the markets in Chapala and Ajijic. And of course Tango(our favorite restaurant) to celebrate with a big dinner with friends and family. A great trip.. We are repeat guests at this home and will be back.."
