  • Amazing home in Ajijic!

"FABULOUS, AMAZING, WONDERFUL! Yes, Rio Nazas #34 is all of those things, but it is also a home. And the minute we walked into the garden, then into the house, it felt like our home. I stopped and twirled around and said "we get to live here for 4 weeks!" Truly, we had an amazing time during our stay there. The VRBO listing and photos don't begin to do justice to this property-it is stunning! The home itself is spotless and perfectly set up for living there. There were several 20 liter bottles of water in the pantry, plenty of dishes and wine glasses (very important), beach towels for the pool, golf clubs (which we didn't use), lots of books (also very important) and games - everything to make us feel comfortable. And fresh flowers were left for us several times during our stay! And the is one of the finest features of the home. From each terrazza it is different and compelling. The lake and mountains are inspiring at any time, but sunrise and sunset are exceptional. We were there during the rainy season, and it did rain, but only at night; come morning the clouds were caught on the peaks of the green mountains and made us feel like we were in Hawai'i. The location is excellent. We were far enough from the village that the sound of all-night roosters, church bells, rockets, and car alarms weren't so loud - but close enough that we could walk to the village and down to the malecon (and back, all uphill, of course!). We could walk to the French bakery (phenomenal croissants & brioche), several restaurants (Yves, Tabarka, Frida's), the organic tiengas on Tuesdays and the Ajijic tiengas on Wednesdays. But every time we left, we couldn't wait to return - and usually jump right in the pool! We had guests while we were there - so we ended up with 5 adults sharing the home and it easily accommodated us all. The beds were all comfortable, everyone was able to come and go on their own schedule without disturbing the others. We did develop a ritual - whoever got up first put on the coffee, and eventually we all ended up on the front terrazza sipping coffee and tea, and watching the hummingbirds and butterflies in the garden. Mimi (the owner) was wonderful - we had several long conversations before we traveled to Ajijic, and her love of her home and Ajijic shows through in every room. In sum, we hope to return next summer for 2 months!"

  • Highly recommended

"Prior to renting this beautiful home, I read all of the reviews. Prior to arriving, both Patrick and Rolly were very helpful right from the start. Once I finally arrived, I met Patrick who was so wonderful and wanted to make sure I got the most out of my stay. The house is more beautiful than the pictures show and has everything you could possibly need. I would recommend this place to anyone and when I go back, I hope there is availability because this place books up far in advance and now I know why. Thanks Patrick and Rolly."

  • 60th Wedding Anniversary Trip

"My family stayed at the Jewel House in August, Celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. We love the home, all one level, and large bedrooms. The Mexican details in the home are beautiful. Leo our host was very helpful. We took the family to the American legion in Chapala for a barbeque and the markets in Chapala and Ajijic. And of course Tango(our favorite restaurant) to celebrate with a big dinner with friends and family. A great trip.. We are repeat guests at this home and will be back.."
