  • Home Away From Home

"I want to thank Dyanne and Flor for sharing your home with our family. It was a good experience from the first inquiry. You were easy to reach, informative and returned our damage deposit sooner than expected. My husband and I came from Las Vegas and our youngest son with his wife and 2 children joined us from Colorado. We timed it to meet at the airport in Puerto Vallarta so we all drove together to your home. How exciting to be greeted by Elba who is worth her weight in gold, and walk into your beautiful home and have the large dining room table set with fresh made tortilla chips, salsa and guacamole. Effie, the cook and her helper Nereida were preparing chicken enchiladas, chili rellenos, rice and beans for our dinner followed by a wonderful dessert. Elba had gone to the store earlier and the kitchen was stocked with all of the essentials from fresh fruit and breakfast items to our favorite beverages. Elba showed us the house and we chose our rooms to get settled in before dinner. Every room was like a master suite, very comfortable. The house is so large it actually took a few days to find our way around. Our grandchildren loved the adventure of the grounds with the stream and the path to what we called the pool house, where they could use the bathroom when they were at the pool or exploring without having to come into the main house. What a nice bonus to be able to connect to the internet while we were there. We were very surprised and pleased to find that just a short drive south was the best zoo I have ever been to where the grandkids got to actually play with baby cubs and monkeys. Just a short walk across the highway is Garza Blanca with excellent restaurants and the beach. Old town Puerto Vallarta is just a short drive north. The best part of the day was waking up and opening all the shutters to hear the jungle sounds and see the ocean, just so relaxing. The second best part of the day was coming home and relaxing with music or cable television or a dip in the pool in a home beautifully kept by our maid Charo who also did the laundry. I just wanted to thank Elba for always just being a phone call away and an invaluable help. She was able to fix any problem from money exchange to taking care of a ticket we got with the rental car. I would recommend the “House of Sweet Dreams” to anyone looking for an organized, comfortable, beautiful place to get away from it all. I wish we were there right now. Thanks again, Nancy G."

  • A Spectacular Place Overlooking Banderas Bay

"My wife and I spent two months living at Casa Juanita and enjoyed every day of it. It's in a secure, gated group of six condos, and the neighbors are wonderful. The Old Town section of Puerto Vallarta is five minutes away by cab or bus, but we were perfectly content to relax in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows and watch the whales in the bay as we had our morning coffee. The photos are very accurate -- it's actually nicer than the photos, in fact, and the owners are excellent. They treated us as if we were old friends. They're in the US, but they checked in occasionally via email to see if we needed anything. Very good people. It's not handicapped accessible, and there are 74 steps to (safely) climb, but we're both in our late 60's and had absolutely no problem with the stairs. We've used VRBO for vacation rentals in France and Mexico in the past, and we'd both rate Casa Juanita at the top of the list. You can't go wrong with this one."

  • Convenient and comfortable

"This was a nice place and a very good value. My wife and I stayed in the end unit #501, after spending the previous 2 weeks in Conchas Chinas, closer to town. It's a snug fit, but comfortably furnished. Both of the beaches were delightful to swim at and sparsely inhabited except on weekends. The pool is nice, and something that I appreciated was that it seems there are always chairs and lounges available and it was invariably quiet. The restaurant and service are excellent as many guests have noted. Don't miss the live music featuring the Gecko Band on Friday nights. We ate out every night, and the petite kitchen worked fine as a bar, a place to brew the morning café and store some fruit and snacks. The 5 gal. water cooler in the room is a nice feature. The sun shines straightaway onto the patio and into the large sliding glass door most of the day. That could be uncomfortable, but we didn't spend time in the room during the day other than to change clothes. The sound of the air conditioner located next door is quite evident, however we didn't find it bothersome either. We slept well at night with the slider open and could still hear the ocean. The laundry facility, or "laundry club," is for practical purposes inaccessible unless you're staying longer than a week. It operates by reservation only and was booked full, well beyond the end of our stay, on the day that we checked in? We got by OK because we over packed anyway. Another reviewer noted that this is a good base for exploring the area south of Vallarta. We will attest to that. In fact it's a good place to explore both directions. We spent most days tripping about to Mismaloya, Boca de Tomatlan and the hiking trail to Las Animas, Yelapa, etc. and then rode the bus the other way to town in the evenings to dine and stroll about. At 8 pesos (55 cents) per person it's a great way to get around. The only taxi we ever needed was to get back to the airport (that was 245 pesos, or $16.89 per exchange rate at the time). By the way, I learned something new about currency conversion this trip. The best cash exchange rate (to get pesos) is at the ATM's in front of either the Banorte or CI Banco. The net ATM rate (including transaction fees) using my debit card averaged about 14.5 pesos to the dollar vs 13.6 using the teller window inside the bank as I have typically done in the past. The ATM is much more convenient as well. Thanks again Matt and Deidre!"

  • Nice location, nice condo

"Nice condo complex, they take very good care of the buildings and grounds. The condo we rented has a spectacular view of the small bay, sunsets and small boat traffic... We had a grand time sitting on the terrace, taking it all in. The condo has all the basic needs, a very comfy bed and 2 nice bathrooms. It is however, ready for a minor facelift and some new living room furniture. The property manager is wonderful! Margaret is attentive, responsive and knows the area well. She and her husband Terry are such a resource, we would highly recommend this property manager."
