  • Wonderful first stay in Sayulita

"This house is gorgeous and so much bigger than I realized! We had a wonderful first trip to Sayulita, largely due to this house. We loved having all the space. the pool, comfy outdoor spaces, and gorgeous views. We traveled with our 2 year old so we knew we'd have to hyper vigilant about the pool and the upper deck railings but it all worked out fine. If you have a younger, just walking tot, I would say to be aware of the all the hard floors. I was so impressed by all the gorgeous details in the house and it definitely had more staples than I would have expected, making cooking/meal prep at home really easy. The house really is a quick (5-10 min) walk into town and the beach and tons of restaurants/stores. A little harder on the way back uphill, but nothing unmanageable. And as long as we kept all the windows open and ceiling fans on, we were more than comfortable in ~90 degree weather. One thing I'd recommend, given the open windows and the early morning roosters, is bringing along a pair of earplugs. We were also there over a holiday weekend which made for a few festive evenings down in the plaza - great if you want to hear live music from the comfort of your vacation home, not so great at 1am when you want to sleep :) No fault of the house, just be warned if visiting during a busy period. We otherwise loved this place and this town and would go back in a minute. The owner was also very helpful, easy to work with, and quick to respond. Thanks Penelope, Lalo, Carmen and Lety!"

  • Comfort and styl

"We just concluded our second stay at Casa Contenta and enjoyed it as much as our first visit a year ago. Los Ayala is a small town at the Southern end of Jaltemba Bay, about 1.5 hours drive North of Puerto Vallarta (PV). While the towns North of PV up through Sayulita appear to mostly cater to North American visitors, the towns North from there seem to be destinations more for Mexicans, with Rincon de Guayabitos as the center. The drive from Sayulita onwards feels like going back in time figuratively and literally - somewhere near Lo de Marcos, the time zone changes from Central to Mountain. We rented a car in PV for both our visits and welcomed the convenience of having our own transport. Los Ayala is smaller and quieter than Guayabitos, although on weekends and holidays the beach will get busy with mostly locals. Casa Contenta is on the quiet Southern end of the beach and stands out with its unique architecture and colorful design. Owners Lin and Jim have invested a lot of energy and creativity into building a truly unique and romantic environment, combining colonial designs and furniture with lots of artful details. We stayed in the upstairs Vista suite, which has two bed and bathrooms, a large living area and kitchen with a covered outdoor dining area, a big patio on the side, as well as a huge rooftop patio, which offers great views of the surroundings and the ocean. Lin and Jim made us feel very welcome and helped with everything from arranging massages, suggesting places for shopping and sightseeing, as well as local restaurants and options for live music. Staying in Los Ayala may require a few adjustments and then it will be a great experience: there are few paved roads (work in progress), few restaurants (the ones on the beach close at dusk), and few places to get necessities. On the other hand one can buy freshly caught fish (lobster on weekends) on the beach in the morning along with fresh bread and vegetables for delicious meals at home, if one is so inclined. Otherwise, Guayabitos and La Penita offer quantity and variety for shopping and dining, and even Sayulita is close enough for a dinner outing. We have on both our visits thoroughly enjoyed Lin's and Jim's hospitality, the comfort of Casa Contenta, a glimpse of Mexico away from the main destinations, and we have always felt safe, whether in town, on the beach, or in the car."

  • DEL CANTO PENTHOUSE 5-STAR CONDO

"We have been enjoying the DEL CANTO high class 3 BR / 3 BATH ocean front penthouse condo during February and March for the last two years. The 40 feet long 10th floor ocean front well furnished balcony offers an unforgettable pool and ocean view. The two huge heated pools, the clean sandy beach, the constant sunny 82 deg. day-temp. and the warm ocean water keeps Hawaii way behind...but much closer! We already miss our long walks along this endless beautiful beach and our daily ocean swims. We HIGHLY recommend Nuevo Vallarta and particularly this Del Canto penthouse condo. WE INTEND TO SOON COME BACK!! YOLANDE and MICHEL from MONTREAL, CANADA."
