"Beautiful 4 bedroom house built around a central courtyard with a private pool and hot tub. We had my mother and father in law and our 5 children (age 6-20) there and were very comfortable. This is a gated community 2 hours north of Puerto Vallarta near a small fishing/beach village called Platanitos. There are about 12 houses on a peninsula. There is a larger pool that serves the development of 12 houses. There is a small beautiful beach a 1-2 minute walk from the beach which is very uncrowded. It is next to a river/estuary with a sandbar surfbreak at the mouth and a 14 km beach a 20 yard swim or paddle across the river.
THis is a quiet place. No nightlife. We had a cook (Chello) who did a great job cooking and cleaning the house. The owner (Jossie Gill who lives in Denver) was easy to work with and responsive. The weather was perfect as was the weather. NO issues with the house. Internet is not great but I almost consider that a plus. The cost was very reasonable during the week between Christmas and New Years. We would definately stay here again and would recomend it without reservation."

"As we drove to Casa Lagarto a week ago, I found myself thinking how lucky I was to live so close to the Mexican coast. I’ve seen a lot of it and I’ve been to Casa Lagarto more times than I can count. We love it! It’s the anti-Puerto Vallarta in so many great ways. Over the last two years, I’ve now brought my parents, older brother and his wife, my sister and her fiancé, my other sister, and multiple friends, all on separate occasions. Everyone raves about it to this day as one of the most fun and relaxing vacations of their lives. It’s an authentic Mexican beach experience. You won’t be surrounded by gringos or have to battle for a spot under a palapa. The people are super friendly. The beach is small with real Mexican restaurants. You definitely won’t be paying near US prices like in Vallarta. But the real highlight is Casa Lagarto. It’s gorgeous and the views it shows off are spectacular.
Casa Lagarto is meant as a place to enjoy your family and friends comfortably in a beautiful setting. The layout was obviously designed for it. If you are into cooking, eating, playing games and drinking with friends and family, you’d be hard pressed to find a better place in the world to do it. The open-air kitchen that overlooks the infinity pool overlooking the ocean is to die for. The view is especially important because the sunsets never quit. The kitchen is fully stocked. Robin is a mean cook herself, but if you go make sure at the very least to have Tere make you some homemade tortillas if not a whole Mexican meal or two. When you’re ready for a nap or some quiet time to read, there are tons of nooks and crannies with beautiful views so you can find a little peace. It is so quiet and relaxing, but Robin and Paul know all of the different spots to get into more action if you want it. They can set you up to go snorkeling, fishing, releasing sea turtles, trips to waterfalls, hikes to hidden beaches or to order in a massage. (Please notice bars and nightclubs are not on the list, so if you’re into that got to Cabo, Puerto Vallarta or Cancun.).
Overall, I’m torn recommending this place because it will only make it harder for me to book in the future!"
