  • Perfect Stay!

"This B&B was the best discovery of our vacation. The home is inviting, sparkling clean and has everything we needed for our stay. Rick and Marilyn are the ultimate hosts. They did so much for us - anticipating our needs, and did it calmly and with grace. Marilyn is an accomplished cook - presentation and variety of meals were amazing. I loved that they have so many different settings in this home to serve meals. Our room, bath and balcony were private, great bed and nicely furnished. View of the water and beaches are wonderful. Also the beach is a short walk from the house perfect spot and easy access for watching sunsets and sunrises and getting some sun during the day. Marilyn and Rick know this area well and provided great information for hikes, tours, personal services in their area. Our trip to the market was a highlight...my Spanish isn't the best - so Marilyn graciously accompanied us. It was fun seeing her local knowledge and love of the people there that were her friends. We will definitely recommend this home to our friends. It was beyond expectations."

  • Third visit to Guayabitos

"Great location, great view! Overall, a very attractive condo, but in need of a little TLC and a little bit of elbow grease."

  • Wow, just Wow!

"Del & Sue are wonderful hosts. Hacienda Del Mar is a tranquil setting to be sure with gorgeous, lush landscaping throughout. When we entered the gate to the property through an arch of flowers, we were met by even more beauty inside. The pool is beautiful and relaxing. The bedroom was calming. The kitchen allowed us to buy local produce and meat and make delicious meals. The Mexican tile throughout let us know we were in a hacienda. We benefited from our hosts' more than 10 years in Mexico Their knowledge of the area enhanced our stay. We were able to hit great restaurants, coffee shops and local shopping without any missteps. Using their recommendations we took daytrips to awesome beaches that kept us well clear of other American tourists...often having the beaches to ourselves. Would highly recommend Hacienda Del Mar as a destination vacation or a snowbird getaway."

  • A great place to stay

"We stayed with Glen and Debra for 4 weeks in wonderful Guayabitos. The accommodations and hospitality were top notch. Debra and Glen are interesting people who try very hard to make you feel at home and make your vacation wonderful. They also are very easy to get along with, and happy to help you organize and orient yourself to this region of Mexico. They have lots of different contacts who can pick you up at the airport, take you on tours (hot springs, San Blas, jungle river, Chacala, Mariettas island, Sayulita, Bucerias, etc.), cater a dinner, cook a special meal on site, etc. What I really enjoyed is that you are outside all day long, even in your kitchen. You are inside only to sleep and shower. Our room was pitch black at night and very quite. The pool is a nice size and clean. The palapa over the front entrance is a dream - you sit there reading or staring off into space while ocean breezes blow across your face. Then you fall asleep until Gracie comes to wake you up to go to the beach. All the reports about Gracie the dog are true. She kind of adopts you while you are there. She loves people and playing but knows not to pester. She is a well-behaved delight who is fun to be with. I am quite allergic to animal fur but I had no symptoms despite a lot of contact with Gracie. The house is a very close walk to the great, flat beach. We loved the spectacular sunsets. We did not go into town after dark until the last week of our trip because we thought it would be very quiet. We were wrong - there is a lively night life there, mainly friendly Mexicans enjoying their evening. There are many good restaurants (ask Debra), but don't miss Anahi's potato restaurant. Nothing to look at but absolutely delicious food. Also Cafe Ola for delicious coffee and Tres Banderas for the bacon breakfasts! In La Penita there is a Tunisian restaurant just across the Road from Hindy and Jaime's that is fabulous. Debra will probably know the name of it. Not one of us got sick the entire month. Read the other reviews: I can vouch for their accuracy. A wonderful place to stay in a delightful Mexican town."
