Mazatlan Holy Week and Bike Week
"This is a great place if you want to get away from the tourists and if you appreciate the flavor of what is Mexico. There are a number of things to do nearby. In fact I was thinking or renting a car and I am glad that we didn't do so. You can get around on open air taxis (pulmonias) very affordably.
My stay was a hair atypical in that I came during Semana Santa (Holy Week) which is followed by bike week. So far no problems with either set of people. Bike week down here isn't like a Hell's Angels gathering. It is a lot of motorcyclists enjoying themselves with minimal drunken stupor.
The owner of this property is forthright and attentive. It is a definite plus to have your own kitchen, private pool and a 180 degree view of the Pacific. On a couple of nights music played into the evening but it was actually pretty good music and it doesn't go on forever and ever (that is my mothers house in LA)
I would definitely recommend a stay at Norberto's 1 BR condo.
Some other local activities I would recommend. Take the jungle tour. It is a great boat ride with a great guide, pelicans ride in and out with you on the bow. There is a pristine beach on stone island. It is a full day 9-3 for 30 bucks with food included.
Pancho's in the Zona Dorada is a fantastic joint. There is also an upscale place called El Presidio that I was frankly disappointed in for the cost to flavor ratio. Great staff and atmosphere though as well as live music.
El Quelite is 25 km away. El Meson de Los Laureanos is a phenomenally good restaurant. Order the Carnitas and you will not be disappointed.
If you want to visit a city that is more city than resort filled with crazy people a la Cancun. Come to Mazatlan and enjoy 85 degree consistent highs and 67 degree lows in April.
And we still have tonight and tomorrow left haha......"

"The house was exquisite! We got a two bedroom, two bathroom home that overlooked the water. I loved the details, too: rooftop overlook with chairs and tables, hammock in the back, even had a bonfire our last night. The home was clean, well kempt, beautiful. I can't believe we got the place for such a great price. And the price stays the same, year round! Dan was great when we had any questions. I celebrated my birthday and he even dropped off a gift on my special day! This is definitely not my last trip here. I miss it already!!"

"We were met by the managers as promised. They were driving in to the complex just as we were arriving. The condo was very comfortable, good bed and a view to kill for. To get up in the morning and have our coffee on the deck was amazing and the sunsets were the most beautiful we had ever seen. We watched dolphins play in the water directly in front of the complex. Not only was the deck enlarged which made a huge difference from other units, but the sliding doors were such that they could be opened the full width of the deck. It was like bringing the outside in.
I got sick the second week we were there and the rental agents Kim and Mike Peters were extremely helpful in finding an English speaking doctor. They even phoned to check up on us a few days later. The pool area was quiet and there were lots of chairs and the staff was very friendly. Every afternoon at 3 a man came along the beach selling fresh donuts. What a treat. Every other day a vegetable truck came into the parking lot selling almost everything you need including fresh homemade tamalies.
When we had a problem with the TV, Cara contacted her mother, who lives on the floor below this unit and she brought us a new VCR and showed us how the TV works. She is a lovely lady and even showed me her apartment which is decorated in a Mexican theme.
The bus stopped right in front of the entrance to the complex. You just had to flag it down. There were two options, one to the old town and one to the Golden Zone and it was very cheap.
We loved our vacation here and hope to go back again."

"All 3 couples enjoyed the condo except how it was equipped if you like to cook like we do then you better take cookware with you not even a cutting board or sharp knives. We have rented before and have never had a place this poorly equipped. The private elevator is only good for going down coming up you need to unlock a very hard door to get inside condo. Noisy at night from some disco and pounding all day starting early morning from condo being build next door. Would I rent this condo again not likely noise you can't do much about but for the cost of condo and how it was equipped did not impress any of us. Staff at condo was great."
