  • In a nutshell: HEAVEN

"Estrella Del Mar, Mazatlan, Mexico: I've had some peeps following my travel diary this week, wanting more info on where we are. In a nutshell: In Heaven. Lol. But - for real ... On the Pacific coast of Mexico, across from the Baja Peninsula - in Mazatlan. I discovered this treasure 4 years ago when looking for a quiet Vaca spot to UNplug. We are in a privately owned 2-bedroom, 3-bath condo on the coast .... ~10 miles (I think)/30-45 minutes from Mazatlan. Please contact the condo owners directly for rates - but I can tell you it is at a price point comparable to a mid-range hotel per night. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the owners of our unit. The resort consists of 3 phases, each with its own pool - as well as a hotel and 2 restaurants. It sits on 3-1/2 miles of (literally) private beach. I see fewer than a dozen peeps on the beach a day. And it is COMPLETELY safe. I have talked to other property owners - neverrrrr an issue with safety. There is a grocery shopping service I email my list to - and the condo is stocked for me for a NOMINAL (& I mean nominal) fee. And there is an extremely reasonably priced shuttle service into Mazatlan from the resort - where you can go to spend the day or catch tour packages for area activities. (We are doing the Blue Agave Tequila Factory Tour on Saturday - cannot wait!) Now. If you are looking for the hubbub & excitement of an all-inclusive resort where there are activities and a lot of peeps - EDM is NOT the place for you. But if, like me, you simply need to completely UNplug from life as you know it, yet have the option to shuttle into the craziness of the city - THIS is your place. We are able to come here for the FRACTION of the cost of an all-inclusive, which gives us the luxury of a longer stay. The staff of EDM could not be more acccomodating, as well. The property is HUGE - with a professional level golf course on top of everything else. As such, there is a shuttle service that will take you to the on-property restaurants at no cost - beyond a well-deserved tip to the drivers. What else can I tell you? Please ask. But, The condo owners have been SO kind to share their home with us. And I am thrilled to be able to share the joy"

  • 7 days not enough!!

"Great place for staying awhile longer. The owners have thought of everything, to have at our disposal. We were here visiting friends that have a place here. Lots of Canadians on this street. Everyone is friendly. If you don't want to taxi it, to eat out. Henry's at the end of the street has great authentic Mexican food. Only open at night, small, inexpensive place. The little store beside has some groceries as well. Best breakfast, down at Loony Bean's. Close to the Riu. There is a binder in the Hutch, we found later. It has lots of info. I think I would let people know, that if your not a walker. It's easy to befriend a taxi driver or the little Palometa's driver. They will give you their Number and you can phone for them to pick you up. Cheap to get around. It's a lot of walking, out to the main road to get one, to go places, if walking is hard for you. This place is quiet, not a party place. Great to relax and unwind. Thanks again Ron and Cindy from Canada"

  • High End Low Key!

"This is a very nice upscale condo and property for extended vacations or work. Wi-Fi worked great not only at our condo but on the property. Easy access from the lobby to the elevator that goes directly right to your room. Both bath rooms have oversized showers, beds and furniture very comfortable and lots of drawers and shelves for storing your clothing items for your stay. The views front the ocean side and mountain side are underrated, bring your binoculars it is a must! The infinity pool is much bigger than the pictures portray, great design and well kept vegetation surrounding it. The surrounding grounds are kept in immaculate condition, the waterfalls and fish ponds clean and makes for an awesome setting when arriving to the complex. There are a couple of restaurants walking distant on either side of you, a small store at the site and a mini store across the street. One thing we found very handy was an air condition ATM walking distances just to the north of the main entry. If your up for walking 2.1 miles to the north is a small fishing village, restaurants, and vendor stores. The beach has very little waves and please to relax for a change of pace. As I mentioned this is a low setting great for relaxing and enjoying north Mazatlan. You are a bus or short taxi ride away from the marina, Golden Zone, Old Town, with a multitude of things to do. We came at a hotter humid time of year and still managed to have a great experience that included a ton of pool time. We can't say enough about the staff and the all the local people we met, very friendly, easy going attitudes!"

  • Perfect for a large group

"Recently stayed here for a week. There were 5 couples. Upon arrival we were inspired by the view and extremely satisfied with the living space. Every couple had their own room and bathroom. It is broken up into 2 separate units that are connected by a hallway. It was nice to give the two couples who didn't bring children a quiet space to themselves but they could easily come enjoy the main unit with the ocean view and giant patio. Plenty of luxurious furniture for all to lounge on for movies and games. Lots of good restaurants and adventures in mazatlan and close to groceries to stock up on food for the stay. Can't wait to go back!!!"
