"The casita is a tasteful, comfortable space that served us very well. The open living room has an exquisite fireplace in the corner that, on the chill evenings, was a delight to dine beside and enjoy a quiet, romantic evening. The kitchen is "muy Mexicano", user friendly and fully equipped. A small but complete bathroom lies off the kitchen, filled with thoughtful touches of art and function. The bedroom (s) are comfortable and clean. We chose to occupy the "optional" extra bedroom with it's lovely view out over the valley and were able to hear owls at night and lovely song birds and doves during the day. The grounds of the complex are beautifully maintained and designed. The small community consists of 3 major dwellings along the ridge, with extensive views out over the valley. The swimming pool is shared and also of tasteful design. We were able to access the laundry room beside the casita, which was very useful indeed. Finally, we found the owner and managers to be friendly, supportive and highly responsive to any needs or cares that came up for us. Highly recommended."

"We stayed at Casa Barrio for 10 days. Its in a very good location and walking distance to everything in town. Markets or small groceries all nearby. Tv -wifi-5 gallon jug of water provided. Ricardo the owner was very nice and really helped us out when we had questions. Big kitchen and refrigerator. Water heater for the 2 showers and a hairdryer. A very clean abode. We loved Oaxaca -our first trip there."

"My partner and I stayed for three days during the end of September 2015. The weather was very nice only raining one day. There was generally no need for warm clothes as the temperature was in the mid 20's during the day.
Our hosts were very nice (an English and Mexican couple) showing us around the property and explaining local customs to be aware of. Judith made us feel very welcome. Drinking water arrangements take some getting used to if you are from the UK. Water is delivered via underground spring to a tinarco (water tank) at the top of the house then distributed to the house. Drinking water has to be filtered then treated with an ozone pump before drinking. This sounds like a hassle but is not a chore. The property is close to two big supermarkets "Chedraui" and "Soriana" if you need supplies after a long drive! They are a couple of miles drive away. Download Waze GPS application it's very useful for finding your way around the town. The property had WIFI and telephone access. This was a nice touch and very much appreciated allowing us to keep in touch with loved ones and check emails etc...
The saltwater pool is shared access (between the rental house and the owners house), we made the most of it after our visits to the local market and pyramids at Monte Alban.
Be aware that it's a local custom to have "outdoor dogs" so if you are a light sleeper then this is something to bear in mind. Also if mosquitos love you then take repellant and make sure the bug screen doors are closed between 6pm and 10pm. The property comes with Mosquito nets so this is a thoughtful touch for visiting guests. The house came with mobile fans for the upstairs part of the property which were very much appreciated.
Given the opportunity we would revisit this property given the excellent stay we had at Oaxaca."

"I stayed at both of Anthony’s apartments in Oaxaca. The 2 bedroom and the 3 bedroom in June of 2015. Both apartments are spacious and beautiful.
The 2 bedroom has wonderful sliding doors that lead out to a very large patio where you can overlook the entire city of Oaxaca. There is even a full dining table and chairs out there for meals outside enjoying the beautiful Oaxaca weather.
The 3 bedroom has a wonderful roof top terrace complete with a covered dining area. The windows in the 3 bedroom give you access to the panoramic views of Oaxaca all day and night.
Both apartments have all the amenities you need, cookware, linens, towels, and very comfortable beds. Clean drinking water is provided which is a big deal in Oaxaca as the city water is not safe to drink. I had to work while in Oaxaca and the wi-fi was very consistent as was the cable that had many channels that would play English movies & shows.
Anthony was a wonderful host. He was very responsive from the first time I contacted him all the way until our last day when he was kind enough to arrange for a taxi to take us to the airport. He was available to answer any questions throughout our trip and quick to fix any minor issues we had during our stay. (We had no hot water at first and Anthony was quick to come over and light our gas tank.)
The apartments are up on the hill giving amazing views of the city. The neighborhood is very safe and family friendly. There is an American style coffee shop 100 yards from Anthony’s place with great coffee. There are also various “mini-marts” on the street that carry just about everything you need from beer to milk to eggs to fresh bread & Oaxacan cheese.
Santo Domingo Plaza is less than a mile down the hill. And taxi’s are very cheap to take you back up the hill if you don’t care to walk. We walked most days only taking cabs when it rained or was too hot.
We had a member of our group that is high maintenance when it comes to accommodations being used to staying at very nice hotels and she had no complaints about Anthony’s place. We would go back in a heartbeat!"
