  • Honeymoon paradise

"We stayed at la Libélula for our honeymoon and we can't wait to marry each other again so we can go back! The property is truly one-of-a-kind and and house is beautifully designed and decorated without attempting the impossible task of competing with the out-of-this-world scenery. You are literally steps from the waves here, with nothing between you and the water but a row of coconut palms, a brilliant green lawn, and pearly sand. You can sit with a cup of coffee and fresh orange juice in the morning and watch sea turtles and manta rays cavort in in the surf. The pool is refreshing and we spent most of our days sitting next to or in it, refusing to tear ourselves away from the spectacle. Although we went during the hottest time of the year, the house has the perfect balance of indoor and outdoor spaces to keep comfortably cool. We capped each day with a long walk on the near-empty beach and watched the sunset exploding across the sky. The groundskeeper and managers at the house are lovely and incredibly helpful and we left feeling like we had made new friends. Oh, and don't spend all your time on the beach-side of the house - the cactus garden on the land-side is superb!"

  • Great place

"Very nice place, quiet, spacious, well located. The people on site were very helpful with all our requests, and kept the place clean and in tidy. Some of the equipment wasn't working so well (some lights wouldn't come on, TV remote needed batteries, fridge condensation overflowing onto floor)... but only minor things and not enough to spoil our enjoyment. Watch out for mosquitoes, though: they come in easily at night, and some device id needed to keep them at bay. All in all, we would be happy to go back to Casa Lily!"

  • Real Marina Blue

"My wife and I just returned from a wonderful month at Sharon and Jerry's Real Marina Blue Condo. The condo is perfect in size and well furnished. The location overlooking the Marina was great for early morning coffee and late afternoon cocktails! The condo complex is in the best location with easy access to Santa Cruz, or La Crucietta, both locations are easy walking distance. The complex is very well kept and secure, the other renters and owners were all excellent people to meet and share Huatulco experiences! Thanks to Marisol and our wonderful cleaning lady Lette!"

  • Classy Casual Comfortable

"We were more than pleased with the unit,,beautifully landscaped grounds, and the welcome spotless pool for those hot days. The property is very secure with a wall that is covered with flowers and fauna. If you want wine a little store on the way to Dans Restaurant has it at under $10.00 A short walk to the beach and to the main drag. There you will find shops and restaurants and many hotels. Location is excellent but you will need to take a taxi to load up with basics from the larger grocery store. With 3 units in the building it was nice to visit with others from different parts of the world. Highly recommended."

Oaxaca Travel Tips

Staying in Oaxaca Vacation Rentals

Oaxaca is a city and region in southern Mexico. It is a delightfully cultural place to enjoy a vacation. The mountains and valleys in the area are home to a large population of Zapotec and Mixtec Indians and their pretty villages are well known for the beautiful crafts which they produce. The city of Oaxaca is a colonial city of plazas, courtyards and stone-built buildings. The surrounding area is dedicated to growing corn. High in the mountains is the ancient ceremonial center of Monte Alban, similar to the Mayan civilizations found elsewhere in Mexico. The region of Oaxaca also has a beautiful coastline with miles of sandy beaches.

Staying in a Oaxaca vacation rental is a very relaxing and easy way to enjoy a family vacation. A rental home gives more space than a standard hotel room, and a kitchen, cooking facilities and a full-size refrigerator are welcome amenities when catering for a family. Visiting the markets is just one of the local highlights, and it can be a great place to buy fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, tortillas and cheese for a cheap meal. Alternatively, use your rental home as a base and eat out at one of the reasonably priced restaurants nearby.

Condos in Oaxaca can be found within easy walking distance of the superb beaches. Enjoy beautiful views of the coastline or the mountainous backdrop, depending upon where you choose to stay. Vacation rentals can provide a quieter option for those looking for a relaxing vacation away from the bustling beachfront. With a vacation rental, the choice is yours!

Things to do Around Oaxaca

Oaxaca has some fabulous resorts along its coastline offering miles of sandy beaches, swimming and beach watersports including surfing. It is easy to rent a boat and go sea fishing or watch dolphins and turtles in the clear waters. A local traditional massage is a wonderful treatment, or try the temazcal vapor bath.

Most visitors enjoy exploring the area by car or bus. Tours can be booked to the main sightseeing locations. The area is also pleasant for hiking and cycling, particularly as it enjoys low humidity. Visit one of the many archaeological sites in the area or take a trip to the local craft villages. Museums, cinemas, restaurants and nightclubs are all available, although speaking Spanish may be helpful in the more local establishments.

How to get to Oaxaca Vacation Houses

Direct flights to Oaxaca International Airport can be booked from Houston, TX and via Mexico City. The main airlines are Continental, Mexicana and Aeromexico Airlines. The airport is located about 25 minutes south of the city and there is a transportation service available for either public or private transport.

Areas to Visit From Oaxaca Condos

The local fishing port of Puerto Escondido is a popular place to visit. It is famous for its surfing, sunbathing and local restaurants.

Chiapas is the central highland area near Oaxaca. It is renowned for the beautiful handicrafts produced by the Indians here. The center of the region is the colonial style town of San Cristobel de las Casas which has narrow cobbled streets and old adobe walls, giving it a very authentic air. A visit to the San Juan Chamula Church is a great place to experience the religious and social practices of this community.

The ruins of the Mayan city at Palenque is a fascinating place to visit. The burial pyramid of King Pacal was only discovered in the 1950s and revealed much of the Mayan culture and history of Palenque and its kings.

The Weather and Climate in Oaxaca

The climate in Oaxaca varies according to the geographic zone. It can be hot and dry along the Pacific coast but at the high mountain elevations, it is much cooler. The capital city of Oaxaca enjoys subtropical weather with temperate winter temperatures, ranging from 16 to 25 C. The rainfall is mainly between June and October and the area has low humidity.
