"If you are interested in the glam, glitz, and glitter of a deluxe resort setting, high-end shopping, lots of amenities, and/or a wild and lively night-life scene, this is not the place for you. If, on the other hand, you are interested in a quiet, tranquil, comfortable, well-appointed home with superior, breath-taking views, an extremely helpful house manager and caretaker, with an easy walk to a beautiful secluded beach, in a private end-of-the-road, 'away-from-it-all' location, this is the place!!! A very nice house with an easy-to-work-with owner, in a safe, pleasant, fun, and beautiful part of México. The washer/dryer and AC were great! Puerto Angel, the village near the house, is a real fishing village in the true sense, and Pochutla, the nearest town of size, is a working and thriving place with all the necessities you will need, including ATM, gas station, groceries, etc. The nearby villages along the coast are charming, the beaches are fantastic, the food is excellent, and the people are always pleasant, welcoming, friendly, and helpful. For a change of scenery, drive up into the beautiful mountains a short distance away, where you can visit the local coffee estates near Candelaria and Pluma Hidalgo. Be sure and ask Manuela, the delightful house manager, for information, directions, suggestions, and recommendations regarding all regional attractions. She is a wonderful, helpful person and is an invaluable source of information and knowledge for any and every facet of your stay. I was here for five weeks recently, and wish I had had more time. I recommend the following activities to enhance your visit: frequent jaunts to La Mina beach, a short 10 minute walk from the house in a very beautiful setting, where you will usually be the only ones there; The beaches and cafes of Zipolite, about 20 minutes up the coast road; The sea turtle research center in Mazunte, about 30 minutes up the coast road; The mangrove wildlife reserve, beach, and boat excursion at La Ventanilla beach, about a 40 minute drive on the coast road; Puerto Escondido, about 70 kilometers (an hour and 20 minutes leisurely drive) up the coast road; The coffee estates of Finca El Pacifico and Don Gabriel in the mountains, an hour drive away; Market day in Pochutla, which is every Monday, mid-morning to early afternoon is the best time; sitting on the pier in Puerto Angel at sunset to watch all the activity with the fisherman. Having a rental car is by far best to optimize your stay."
