  • A Oceanfront Beauty.........

"My husband and I and another couple spent a wonderful week at this incredible oceanfront condo. The spectacular views are breathtaking and the expansive terrace area is a vacation all by itself. The entire condo is very well equipped with everything you could possibly imagine. The infinity-pool is a real treat and incredibly relaxing. The owners were extremely helpful and prompt with questions and answering emails. The caretakers and housekeepers are attentive and helpful. I would most certainly recommend this condo and would book it again in a heartbeat."

  • a little bit of paradise

"Our family really enjoyed our stay at Nicte Ha. The decor was beautiful, the ocean views were outstanding, the house was clean and well-stocked. The house felt secluded and quiet, just what we wanted in a vacation. Maria prepared a delicious dinner for us, and the house was always clean. Jose, the gardener, was SUPER! Friendly, helpful and a really nice guy. He rinsed our rental car every day. Having said that, future guests should be aware of a couple of things: (1) although the house description lists a washer and dryer, the laundry room is locked, with a sign that says the housekeeper will do the laundry for a charge. We were disappointed, as we had planned to do laundry our last day (Sunday), which was the maid's day off. Rather misleading in the description. (2) While the house IS beautiful, it is a bit frayed around the edges. Just a few little annoyances with non-working fans, lights, cracked tiles inside and outside. (3) CHECK the HOUSE KEYS before you leave the house locked. Only one key fit the front door, and we could never get the second front door to unlock with EITHER key. (4) I wouldn't bring young children here; the tiles inside and out are extremely slick when wet, and the stairs to the upper rooms are steep and slick as well. (5) On Thursday, we left our beach towels to be washed, but we didn't receive replacements until Saturday afternoon. (6) The wi-fi is not reliable, and is spotty upstairs. Plus, the instructions we were given to log in were not correct. Since we needed to be in touch with family in the States, this was a bit disconcerting. Would we stay here again? Probably. Just be aware of the hiccups."

  • Akumal February 2015

"La Bahia is a great building. Service from the property management team was top notch. The unit that we stayed in #3 is quaint. It is a little outdated but living space is comfortable. The bedrooms with their own bathrooms are a nice layout, however the beds are terrible. We were advised several times that the second bedroom could and would be setup with a king size bed (pushing the two singles together, etc) not only was this not done the beds aren't the same height and the mattresses are rock hard and the edges even worse, therefore when pushed together with no bumper or connection piece, makes for a very uncomfortable sleep. The king size bed in the other bedroom at least had a small foam on top but was still very hard and uncomfortable. We cooked during our stay and also had Chef Daveed cook for us (wonderful experience) and we had temperature trouble with the oven. Things took way longer. Also if you are wine drinkers, there was not one wine glass in the cupboards. All things considered, we loved Akumal and La Bahia and would recommend it to all! With new beds or better sleeping conditions we would definitely rent this condo again."

  • Amazing sunrise

"My family (6 in total, including a 12 and a 14 year old and grandparents) had a wonderful stay at Nido de Amor. The home was just as described and the location is great -- close enough to walk 15-20 minutes along the beach to the quaint village of Akumal, but far enough removed from any resorts to provide a private setting. We really enjoyed snorkeling right in front of the house, as well as in the cove in the village of Akumal where you are pretty much guaranteed to see turtles (and more). I watched the sun rise each morning poolside with coffee. Guille is a wonderful on-site manager (and more) and she was always made us feel comfortable and was available to help with anything we needed. We asked Guille to cook a few dinners and a couple breakfasts for us, which were all really good. If you feel bold, ask her to make some habenero hot sauce (but only use a very small amount, trust me...). The pool is great as well -- very large and well maintained. Internet / wifi was intermittent as there was apparently work being done on some of the lines in the area, but that was a minor inconvenience in the scheme of things. We had an amazing stay at Nido de Amor and hope to be back again soon."
