  • House at HalfMoon Bay

"Very enjoyable week at Casa Tucan. We spent the prior week at a nearby location but wish we would've done both weeks at Casa Tucan. We had 2 families with room to spare. Anytime spent at the house was pool time for the kids. They loved the pool. Small corner stores a quick stroll away, 4 or 5 restaurants very close with more in nearby Akumal, great snorkeling in Half Moon Bay and Yalku Lagoon, all make this an easy vacation getaway. The water in Half Moon Bay is incredibly warm. Kids Loved it. Not on the beach but a very short stroll away. Lots of turtles and got to see the Giant Parrotfish feeding in Yalku Lagoon. Harmless but a little intimidating due to their size. Jorge, the property manager, is a great resource and quick to address any concerns. Very nice fellow. Quick to give directions and recommendations in an area filled with outdoor adventure and archeological treasures. We will tell our friends about Casa Tucan"

  • What an amazing property, location, and staff...best all around trip we've ever had!

"We highly recommend a stay in Akumal at Casa Kukulcan under the ownership of Mike McGetrick… one of the best vacations we’ve ever had! Mike’s design of Casa Kukulcan teases out Mayan architecture into a contemporary building including a pyramid front and an entry reflective of a Mayan purification tunnel. ‘Purified’ is how you feel as you walk in the entry that produces a gorgeous home of tile floors, dark wood accents, and a full two-story glass visual out the back at the lap pool and ocean beyond, framed in by palm trees. Our extended family of 12 ranged from 8 to 81 and the house easily accommodated needs for all. The large kitchen and professional surfaces allowed for food prep plus hanging out space and the two dining table options easily sat us all. Large air conditioned bedrooms with individual temperature controls, and comfortable beds and pillows, provided your choice of sleeping arrangements. My wife and I chose to sleep in the master suite with all doors and windows open to allow the warm breezes to pass over us. We fell asleep listening to the surf (bugs not a problem) and awoke to the songs of the melodious blackbird and kiskadee. The sunrise was also available from our master suite bed or from the chairs on the veranda …with a full cup of a Mexican mocha in hand, it was indeed perfection! Casa Kukulcan offers so much that if we did nothing else during our stay, we could fully enjoy the property, swim in the pool, or snorkel in the ocean beyond. We did that a number of days including our first full day so we could rest from travel and fully absorb our luxurious spot. We drove a few mornings into Akumal beach (just around the back of the Akumal Dive Shop at 8am) to snorkel with an assortment of sea turtles and stingrays as they grazed on the sea grass. We visited Mayan ruins as well, but a highlight of our stay was a private tour by the owner of the Santa Cruz Cenote. Carlos was very helpful and made the arrangements, but I would advise making them well in advance. The owner knows his cave and cenote well, speaks great English, and is clear about his desire to protect it while also sharing this remarkable little piece of earth with others. Thank you Mike and staff for providing the back-drop to a magical vacation! The Vickland and Wilson Families"

  • Wonderful Place!

"What a gem this condo was for our latest vacation. We stayed 8 nights in this comfortable and clean 2 bd/2bath condo. Everything you need to stay a few days or several weeks is there for your use from water sports equipment, kayaks, BBQ and of course the incredible ocean views-right outside your door. Close to everything there is to do in the Yucatan and Quintana Roo areas from snorkeling, swimming cents, fishing, archeological sites to all the attractions (5 min away). Memo and Marcy were wonderful and friendly hosts and concerned that everything was "just perfect" for us. The condo comes with a daily cleaning service of Suemi and Ismael that extends beyond a "regular service". Whatever you need they were there to help. Renting a car to get around is so much easier and economical than taxi's. Highly recommend the condo for your next stay. We had a wonderful and enjoyable stay…."

  • Close to Yal-Kul, and Akumal's Half Moon Bay Beach

"The condo worked out great for us. We didn't plan our trip out very far in advance, and so we got lucky and landed this great spot. The layout is great for a small family, or two couples. The location is right next to the Yal-Kul lagoon, and very close to the Akumal beaches. I wouldn't recommend this place if you don't have a car, as it can be long walks to get to the many restaurants in the main area of Akumal. The listing was very appropriate and accurate, and the communication with the manager was easy and professional. I'd highly recommend staying here, and I plan to again in the future."
