Always a great time!
"We truly loved our stay in Akumal and at La Bahia. This was my third time to stay at La Bahia (each in a different condo) and by far #2 has the most recent renovations and updated look. As always, the staff was attentive and helpful and the condo well maintained. Akumal and the surrounding area are always a treat and did not disappoint during this trip either. If you have never been I highly recommend checking out Cenote Santa Cruz (just a short, but rough, ride outside of Akumal Pueblo) and touring the Sian Ka'an for some additional fun. Local restaurants in Akumal do not disappoint either and La Buena Vida is always a good time for a drink, food, or both. Thanks for sharing your piece of paradise!"

"We have just returned from a week's vacation at Villa Arrecife. We were a family of 8 who stayed at the Villa. The Villa is absolutely beautiful and was spotless. There was plenty of space for the 8 of us to gather including a gourmet kitchen, dining area and large family room. The cleaning lady was there most of the day to clean the Villa which also included laundry service and dishes. We brought in a chef service to make our evening meals so we were totally pampered during our stay. The grounds and pool area are maintained very well. If you wanted some quiet time, you could retreat to one of the balconies on the second floor to read a book or just look out at the view. We felt so safe staying on the premises of the gated resort - each evening we would walk down to the beach. The villa is approximately a 5 minute drive from Akumal Beach. We used Cancun Shuttle Service which picked us at the airport and drove us to the Villa, and then returned us to the airport the following week. There is a taxi stand located on the resort so we were able to grab a cab whenever we needed. I would have no hesitation in recommending the villa to others and I would definitely stay there again.
This is the first time we have used VRBO and was so impressed. Tamara was wonderful to deal with and answered all of my questions. T"

"This was our first Mexican vacation that wasn't in a resort. It was spring break with our 18 year old son, my lovely wife and his brother, whom we kidnapped from Iowa.
Amanecer Akumal proved a delightful, freeing experience for us. It felt not only more authentic but like you were living there for a moment instead of just vacationing.
The unit itself is loaded with Mexican charm: serious dark hard wood doors and accents, amazing tile work, a soaking tub in the master bedroom that's a hot tub sans jets, a well-equipped kitchen and a spacious dining/living room area.
But we especially enjoyed the common areas: a small pool (which has the kind of built-in stools you find in swim-up bars) on a downstairs patio, and a table with chairs on the rooftop patios, where we spent nights drinking Sols, watching the stars and getting to know our fascinating neighbors from Portland, Ore., Nick and Gail.
You don't need to rent a car. You can spend a week walking to Yal-Kul, Half Moon Bay or Akumal Bay (or renting bikes for $8 nearby) for the epic snorkeling. But I'm such an activities director (if it's Wednesday, it Chiichan Itza), a car proved invaluable.
Fernando (our groundskeeper and maintenance
guy) and Martha (our maid) couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.
We may be done with the mega resorts. Better to really feel the experience of Mexico instead of being insulated from it."

"we were a family of 14 celebrating a big birthday. Casa Kukulcan was everything we hoped it would be and more. We ran into a slight inconvenience which Carlos, Maria, and Carlos handled professionally and promptly. The property is magnificent. We all loved every minute of our stay at this magnificent villa. Mike McGetrick is a delight to deal with."
