  • great place to stay in Akumal

"Villas Derosa was everything that we hoped for. The location was great, lovely beach, food was made to order and was very good, and the service was excellent. My only complaint would be that the king sized bed was composed of two twin beds, and thus had a joint in the middle of it."

  • House at HalfMoon Bay

"Very enjoyable week at Casa Tucan. We spent the prior week at a nearby location but wish we would've done both weeks at Casa Tucan. We had 2 families with room to spare. Anytime spent at the house was pool time for the kids. They loved the pool. Small corner stores a quick stroll away, 4 or 5 restaurants very close with more in nearby Akumal, great snorkeling in Half Moon Bay and Yalku Lagoon, all make this an easy vacation getaway. The water in Half Moon Bay is incredibly warm. Kids Loved it. Not on the beach but a very short stroll away. Lots of turtles and got to see the Giant Parrotfish feeding in Yalku Lagoon. Harmless but a little intimidating due to their size. Jorge, the property manager, is a great resource and quick to address any concerns. Very nice fellow. Quick to give directions and recommendations in an area filled with outdoor adventure and archeological treasures. We will tell our friends about Casa Tucan"

  • WOW; unbeatable

"The pictures do not do this place justice and simply cannot, since a big part of the enjoyment is experiencing all the advantages of this home's location and the incredible people who support and service your stay. LOCATION< LOCATION< LOCATION. First and last rule of a great vacation for a large family. We had 84 year old grandpa; and family of 6, kids: 12, 10. 7, 4. There was still comfortably room for another family of 4-6 and no chance we would have gotten in each others way. The pool had depth, size, and convenience unlike any villa we have stayed in; not some miniature kidney bean, token pool, but a big, play a lot, cool down, family fun pool with diving board, bar stools and plenty of toys to keep everyone occupied. The beach is sandy underfoot and soft to walk onto and groomed daily and very private at the opposite end of the stretch that leads to Akumal town after a half hour stroll. Quiet, paved, guarded lane gets you to this impressive ro of villas and you feel more modern and secure than staying at Tankah and beaches further south, but without any loss of romance and paradise. Tulum is a 10 minute drive and everything natural (and not just touristy/commercial) is between the house and there, including the best cents, open lagoons, cave snorkeling/diving, jungle excursions and white, sugary powdery sand meet turquoise water seascapes. Of course its terrific for ruins at Coba, which are unhurried and uncrowded and immersed in jungle or the obligatory Tulum ruins (which one must hit early before the buses from Cancun overrun the place). Everything needed is there and whatever you suspect may not be then Guille, the house manager who lives in the adjacent casita and is always available on call, will ensure you have it immediately. She is a treasure and along with Moises, the groundskeeper and Ruth, the housekeeper, they work seamlessly in the background, almost unnoticeably to constantly ensuring the house is in royal condition and you feel like a royal family on your visit. We were so spoiled and in awe of just watching stars and sunrises/sunsets against the silhouette of enormous swaying palms and beautiful flora that surrounded the house. The consistent breeze kept us cool and windows open allowed us to fall asleep to the ocean gently lapping 50 yards from the villa. WOW."

  • Somewhere to sit and watch the turtles

"Decide what you want from your holiday, do your homework and if you want sunshine, a prime location, save some money and on arrival realise that you've got it absolutely right then Casita Maria is the place for you. The property is clean, nicely furnished, beds to die for and closer to the beach than almost anyone else. Ok, you don't have a view but why would you be in your apartment when there is so much to do and see outside. The staff at the Playa Caribe couldn't have been more helpful and we loved the location, near enough to the action but far enough to have that exclusive feel. I wont mention excursions as they are down to personal taste but all the local restaurants were excellent especially La Bueno Vida where we spent many a happy hour. Akumal itself is out of a picture book and you need go see it as i suspect change is coming. Well be going back."
