"We are finishing up a way too short stay at Casa Margarita with a remarkable view of the ocean as I write this. The three families had a great time with plenty of space to do what they wanted, when they wanted. The six children aged 6 to 12 rarely left the pool that was well stocked with toys, snorkel gear, floats, to keep them well entertained. The house owner answered every question for recommendations before and during the trip nearly immediately and always with great information. Need a massage therapist? Need a snorkel company? Want to go fishing? Did you happen to forget to bring your bathing suit? The owner had great referrals for all. The house is superbly maintained and has all the space you could possibly need and if ANY issue arises, the house manager is ON IT. The house is also just a short walk from the square. I will stay here again. The only question is how soon I can get back."

"Possibly the best location on the beach. Your own beach, private pool and great location to downtown. The private residence is clean and safe and the host was accommodating in many ways. Isla Holbox is a quiet fishing village with none of the hustle and bustle of the more touristy locations. If you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation in an ocean paradise this is the best bet."

"Bob and I were so pleased with our stay at Casita Paraiso and our adventures in the surrounding area. It was exactly what we wanted and needed!
The neighborhood in which Casita Paraiso is located boasts an eclectic population of Mexican nationals and ex-pats. The neighborhood is quiet and pleasant. The house itself was clean, nicely appointed, and aesthetically pleasing...and air-conditioned! We loved the very private patio and spent a fair amount of time there when we were in our home-away-from home. The pictures on the website and facebook accurately depict the casita.
Bob and I chose not to rent a car (unless we found we really needed one) and we didn't. We could get anywhere we wanted to go via the bikes, walking, colectivo, or bus. We prefer to melt into the local life when we vacation and we always felt very safe anytime of day or night we were out and about.
Kathy and Mark were super helpful as was the property manager who resides in the neighborhood when we had a question or two. Kathy and Mark have put a lot of effort into compiling a book of local beaches, ruins, cenotes from various travel sites and interjected their own experiences and preferences which is helpful.
While I think a car would be more convenient for carrying beach gear back and forth as well as storing valuables (like cameras) when at the beach, we managed just fine taking very minimal gear on the colectivo system.
We loved the setting, the casita, the nearby pueblo of Chemuyil, the beach of Xcacel, the cenotes we visited, Tulum, the biosphere of Sian Ca'an, and Akumal. There is so much to do and see and so much of it is still unspoiled or undeveloped. I will definitely go back and I hope Kathy and Mark are still renting their lovely Casita Paraiso then!"

Wonderful Beach Front condo in a phenomenal location!
"I stayed at the condo for 4 nights with some good friends and had a wonderful time! The location of the condo can't be beat...1st floor right on the beach with that gorgeous ocean view, and just around the block from excellent restaurants and shops. Nightclubs are also right around the corner, and the owner had shared information about this (along with a ton of other great info about what to expect in Playa, cultural differences, local restaurant recommendations, suggestions for tipping, etc...having never been to the area, I found this EXTREMELY helpful and my friends and I referred back to the info often during our stay), so we knew what to expect. While you could hear the base from the nightclubs, and I am a fairly light sleeper, it did not keep me from sleeping well...the blackout curtains were wonderful and the bed was super comfortable! The condo was well-supplied, cleaning service did a fantastic job, and the property management folks gave us contact info to reach them if there was anything we needed. Playa Del Carmen is a lovely town, with so many great restaurants (I hope to go back again to sample more of them) and shops. Be sure to check out a shop called Yulunga for great high-quality handmade jewelry at reasonable prices. The massage "booth" set up on the beach near the condo was a part of the daily routine: $20 for excellent one-hour massages! The waiter from one of the restaurants next door also came over so that we could order drinks and food, which we could take advantage of if we didn't feel like cooking or making our own drinks...very convenient. There are also rentals for paddle boards next door, and fishing boats you can have guide you. Great condo...spacious kitchen, dining area, living space. Great location...couple of minutes walk to restaurants/shops...we found no need for a car (if you did need transportation, the taxis were plentiful and very reasonable). Great home base to visit the ruins and cenotes that are not too far away. We had a guide pick us up one day for the trip to Tulum & Cobá and it couldn't have been easier. The information provided by the owner really was invaluable to helping us make the most of our stay, thank you! Can't wait to go back and stay here again!!"
