  • Lovely Casa - 5 stars

"From the beginning Michele was wonderful to work with- very helpful and replied to questions quickly. The house is lovely and very well equipped. The location is terrific - quiet neighborhood with many friendly folks. We enjoyed the private backyard with a door to a jungle area filled with beautiful birds and interesting small animals. The casa is in easy driving distance to cenotes, Tulum ruins, several terrific beaches, Yal Ku lagoon, a monkey sanctuary, a number of good restaurants. shopping, etc. We had a grand time."

  • Truly a little piece of paradise

"Bob and I were so pleased with our stay at Casita Paraiso and our adventures in the surrounding area. It was exactly what we wanted and needed! The neighborhood in which Casita Paraiso is located boasts an eclectic population of Mexican nationals and ex-pats. The neighborhood is quiet and pleasant. The house itself was clean, nicely appointed, and aesthetically pleasing...and air-conditioned! We loved the very private patio and spent a fair amount of time there when we were in our home-away-from home. The pictures on the website and facebook accurately depict the casita. Bob and I chose not to rent a car (unless we found we really needed one) and we didn't. We could get anywhere we wanted to go via the bikes, walking, colectivo, or bus. We prefer to melt into the local life when we vacation and we always felt very safe anytime of day or night we were out and about. Kathy and Mark were super helpful as was the property manager who resides in the neighborhood when we had a question or two. Kathy and Mark have put a lot of effort into compiling a book of local beaches, ruins, cenotes from various travel sites and interjected their own experiences and preferences which is helpful. While I think a car would be more convenient for carrying beach gear back and forth as well as storing valuables (like cameras) when at the beach, we managed just fine taking very minimal gear on the colectivo system. We loved the setting, the casita, the nearby pueblo of Chemuyil, the beach of Xcacel, the cenotes we visited, Tulum, the biosphere of Sian Ca'an, and Akumal. There is so much to do and see and so much of it is still unspoiled or undeveloped. I will definitely go back and I hope Kathy and Mark are still renting their lovely Casita Paraiso then!"

  • Great getaway

"Stayed for 10 days and found this house the perfect winter getaway. Loved sitting in front yard in the morning and afternoon greeting neighbors as they strolled by and watching for colorful birds in the trees across the street. The house had everything needed and some extras like books to read, playing cards and some stables like oil, vinegar, shampoo, lotion."

  • It grew on me...

"I shared Casa Amarilla with my husband and his family. I will admit that for the first few days I was a little skeptical of our choice but by the end of our stay (just over a week) I didn't want to leave! The town is absolutely charming and everyone was very nice and accommodating for us, language barrier and all. We tried nearly every restaurant in town, if not all, and enjoyed each one. We rented two cars so were out and about every day, mostly cenotes, ruins, and beaches. We did a Selva Maya tour one afternoon - totally awesome! The guys were a lot of fun and were all knowledgeable and fun to talk to. One thing I would like to mention about the house is to watch your expectations. I had never been to Mexico and this is nothing like a resort. The house was a little musty and we thought maybe a cat had gotten locked inside sometime before we arrived because the couch cushions smelled like cat urine. We removed the cushions and put them in a room we weren't using. But like I said, the whole place really grew on me and I'd be there right now if I could! Thanks Ryan!"
