  • Family with small kids loved the place.

"We stayed for 2 weeks as a family of 6 (Kids 4, 6, 9, parents and grandma) and had a great time. I would recommend it to a friend. Great joy for kids was a transparent clear cenote just 40 yards (meters) from the house. It's free and there are another two free cenotes withing 2 minutes walk. We jumped in several times per day to cool off. Beautiful Beach is 15 minutes walking distance. After travelling around for 2 weeks, this beach was the best. House is clean and nicely decorated in Mexican style. You can tell that the owners love the home. It has a character, it's not an anonymous rental. Fenced backyard is a great place to spend mornings and evenings. Seems that most homes around are owned by Canadian retirees, that are having great fun down there. 10 minutes walk takes you to Chemuyil, authentical Mexican village with restaurants, shops, friendly people and kids running around. Communication with owners was great, responsive with no surprises. On site manager was responsive. You will find that services in Mexico don't work as well as in US or Europe, but this house is managed with western culture and standards. You get what you are promised. So enjoy the laid back Mexican culture, but rely on this reliable accommodation."

  • House in Mexican paradise

"Staying at this house was our first chance to really see what it's like to live in Mexico. We loved every moment we spent here; the house is incredibly clean, spacious and beautifully furnished and is filled with all the necessities to make your holiday run smoothly. The town where it's based is a quiet village right near the beach, some tiny but incredibly cheap restaurants serving delicious local fare (tacos and burritos to die for) and every one was incredibly friendly. The 'collectivo' service was superb, you never have to wait longer than 5 minutes for a bus ride to the beach or further to Tulum. We spent a few days swimming with turtles at Akumal beach and snorkelled in local cenotes which are stunningly beautiful. All in all the house and it's owners helped us to have some of the most memorable days on our trip and we couldn't recommend it higher."

  • Truly a little piece of paradise

"Bob and I were so pleased with our stay at Casita Paraiso and our adventures in the surrounding area. It was exactly what we wanted and needed! The neighborhood in which Casita Paraiso is located boasts an eclectic population of Mexican nationals and ex-pats. The neighborhood is quiet and pleasant. The house itself was clean, nicely appointed, and aesthetically pleasing...and air-conditioned! We loved the very private patio and spent a fair amount of time there when we were in our home-away-from home. The pictures on the website and facebook accurately depict the casita. Bob and I chose not to rent a car (unless we found we really needed one) and we didn't. We could get anywhere we wanted to go via the bikes, walking, colectivo, or bus. We prefer to melt into the local life when we vacation and we always felt very safe anytime of day or night we were out and about. Kathy and Mark were super helpful as was the property manager who resides in the neighborhood when we had a question or two. Kathy and Mark have put a lot of effort into compiling a book of local beaches, ruins, cenotes from various travel sites and interjected their own experiences and preferences which is helpful. While I think a car would be more convenient for carrying beach gear back and forth as well as storing valuables (like cameras) when at the beach, we managed just fine taking very minimal gear on the colectivo system. We loved the setting, the casita, the nearby pueblo of Chemuyil, the beach of Xcacel, the cenotes we visited, Tulum, the biosphere of Sian Ca'an, and Akumal. There is so much to do and see and so much of it is still unspoiled or undeveloped. I will definitely go back and I hope Kathy and Mark are still renting their lovely Casita Paraiso then!"

  • Lovely Casa - 5 stars

"From the beginning Michele was wonderful to work with- very helpful and replied to questions quickly. The house is lovely and very well equipped. The location is terrific - quiet neighborhood with many friendly folks. We enjoyed the private backyard with a door to a jungle area filled with beautiful birds and interesting small animals. The casa is in easy driving distance to cenotes, Tulum ruins, several terrific beaches, Yal Ku lagoon, a monkey sanctuary, a number of good restaurants. shopping, etc. We had a grand time."
