  • AWESOME!!!!!

"Arena Blanca is one of the best kept secrets in Playa del Carmen. It is centrally located less than minutes from 5th Avenue, but in a fairly quiet side of town. The condo is beautifully decorated with native art and accents and is extremely private and comfortable and within walking distance of everything. The pool and the surrounding grounds are gorgeous and impeccably maintained. The staff are warm and accommodating. This is an extremely quiet complex with only eleven units total. The guests at this complex consisted of several families with children and alot of adult couples. Dealing with Shari and Lisa throughout the entire process was a delight. They were great at providing whatever information we needed and at addressing any personal issues we had immediately. They supplied us with a handy guide to restaurants and local places to see and things to do which proved to be most helpful. We wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else but Arena Blanca on our next trip to Playa del Carmen. Thank you Shari and Lisa for sharing this magical place with us. We loved it!"

  • Views and breezes

"My husband and I spent a fabulous two weeks i September on Isla Mujeres, in lovely Casa Flamboyan. The views from all levels of the house are spectacular. I loved watching the sunrise from the back deck in the morning, then moving to the front verandah to read a book in the hammock overlooking the Bay. Afternoons we would relax by the pool and watch the pods of dolphins play just off shore. Evenings would start on the front verandah watching the sunset, and end on the back deck watching the full moon rise over the Caribbean, washing the ocean with sparkling light, and cruise ships glimmering on the horizon. The huge waves crashing on shore provided the perfect musical accompaniment. We fell asleep many nights watching and listening to the surf. The cross breezes were beautiful and we only turned on the AC at bedtime when it was time to close and lock the doors for the night. The pool area and back deck were always comfortable even on the hottest days due to the breezes. Just beautiful. The apartment itself (Azul) is cute, with a small kitchen and sitting room, a bedroom and bathroom with a window overlooking the ocean in the shower. Lots of storage, amazing natural lighting thanks to all the neat cutouts and skylights, and great night time lighting with dimmable lamps and pot lights. There were ceiling fans in the bedroom, living room and on the front verandah. Real is a bigger unit with a proper kitchen. Keep that in mind if you plan on cooking a lot. We like Azul for its privacy. We were so lucky that no one else was renting while we were there, and we had the entire property to ourselves. We spent a lot of time lounging on the many decks and patios, and swimming in the refreshing pool. We beach combed and walked a lot. Proximity to town is excellent, easily walkable along the malecon with its beautiful views and breezes. The colonias are also an easy walk away. Cabs are plentiful and all you had to do was stand in front of the house and one would pass by every minute or two. There is off street parking for your golf cart, as well. Lupe was in every couple of days to tidy up and change sheets and towels; she was very thorough yet unobtrusive. She was easily accessible should we require anything at all. All in all, we had a very nice time and would recommend this house to family and friends, and would stay there again ourselves."

  • perfect perfect perfect

"Book it! Now! It took us so long to decide on the type of place we were going to stay on our vacation. Resort? Cot? Who knows? There are so many options, which is a good thing, but I get overwhelmed. We decided that an all inclusive was not for us, as we are not drinkers and like to do things on our own schedule. The idea of having liquor dispensers attached to the wall was a red flag. A private condo rental was the ticket. We needed a place with three bedrooms as we'd be with my mother in law, sister-in-law & her bf, the bride, me and our 5 year old son. When we stumbled upon this property online, the wife and I both thought it was too good to be true. This fit the bill, perfectly. There are two beds in each room. We grabbed the master suite which has the only view of the ocean. The other two rooms are nice, but they overlook the outside walkway. Which is fine, as you'll be on vacation and shouldn't be spending time in your room, right? Right! But it's nice sleeping with the window open and hearing the ocean. Two of the rooms have lovely sinks/toilet/shower and there's a main bathroom adjacent to the living room area. The furniture and amenities are beautiful. There are some novels in the bookcase to read as well as some in the "lobby" of the condominium, where you can also make reservations for trips, get info about restaurants and such. We were there the final week in January, so the pool was a little chilly for us, but our 5 year old, like all 5 year olds, didn't care a lick. There's a great shallow/wading area where he could literally frolic while we vegetated in the lounges. Maybe they heat the pool later or it doesn't need heating. No matter. Why swim in the pool when there's the beautiful ocean 10 feet away? We over-packed a bit. There's a washer/dryer in the unit, so we didn't need to pack as many clothes as we did. The room has plenty of soft, enormous, luxurious towels for taking to the beach/pool. There's also a fully appointed kitchen with stove/fridge/microwave. Over two coffee makers! And a dispenser for the 5gallon bottles of water you are supplied with. **note** make sure you get someone to hold the base of that thing when you change the bottle or you'll be mopping the floor :) As mentioned, it's a short walk into town. There's a mall right at the entrance. I gringo'd out and had Starbucks every morning. Right down 10th are a plethora of restaurants with terrific tacos for little money. They'll fill you up. I'm out of room!"

  • Wonderful Beach Front condo in a phenomenal location!

"I stayed at the condo for 4 nights with some good friends and had a wonderful time! The location of the condo can't be beat...1st floor right on the beach with that gorgeous ocean view, and just around the block from excellent restaurants and shops. Nightclubs are also right around the corner, and the owner had shared information about this (along with a ton of other great info about what to expect in Playa, cultural differences, local restaurant recommendations, suggestions for tipping, etc...having never been to the area, I found this EXTREMELY helpful and my friends and I referred back to the info often during our stay), so we knew what to expect. While you could hear the base from the nightclubs, and I am a fairly light sleeper, it did not keep me from sleeping well...the blackout curtains were wonderful and the bed was super comfortable! The condo was well-supplied, cleaning service did a fantastic job, and the property management folks gave us contact info to reach them if there was anything we needed. Playa Del Carmen is a lovely town, with so many great restaurants (I hope to go back again to sample more of them) and shops. Be sure to check out a shop called Yulunga for great high-quality handmade jewelry at reasonable prices. The massage "booth" set up on the beach near the condo was a part of the daily routine: $20 for excellent one-hour massages! The waiter from one of the restaurants next door also came over so that we could order drinks and food, which we could take advantage of if we didn't feel like cooking or making our own drinks...very convenient. There are also rentals for paddle boards next door, and fishing boats you can have guide you. Great condo...spacious kitchen, dining area, living space. Great location...couple of minutes walk to restaurants/shops...we found no need for a car (if you did need transportation, the taxis were plentiful and very reasonable). Great home base to visit the ruins and cenotes that are not too far away. We had a guide pick us up one day for the trip to Tulum & Cobá and it couldn't have been easier. The information provided by the owner really was invaluable to helping us make the most of our stay, thank you! Can't wait to go back and stay here again!!"
