  • Great Stay

"We spent two weeks at this villa with friends. The beach was farther than the 5 minutes quoted in the description but that really wasn't a problem since we had rented a car. Frankie, the caretaker, was great. He was always willing to help with any problem we encountered. We felt very safe in the little gated community. For all of you who are walkers, it was about 20 minutes or so to the north end of Tulum. It's an easy walk but gets pretty hot in mid-day. The house was very clean and quite roomy, the kitchen was well equipped (although we did have to ask for a replacement toaster as ours didn't work), closets were large, all linens were furnished. Washer and dryer worked well. We visited Coba, Muyil, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Punta Allen (I wouldn't recommend this drive except in a 4-wheel drive vehicle) and several other areas in the vicinity. The cenotes at Coba were great! Overall, this was a really good experience. We had a few problems - the internet wouldn't connect a lot of the time (Malu, the property manager, tried to address this as soon as we reported it but apparently it is difficult to get people out to work on that type of problem) and our grill fell apart as soon as we started to put the fish on. It was quite pleasant to sit on the patio or by the pool at the beginning and end of each day and we did a lot of that. The complex was quiet and the neighbors were friendly. Lucky, the dog, was an excellent bonus as she came to visit several times a day. I would recommend staying at this villa when visiting Tulum."

  • Wonderful local spot with great hosts

"We really enjoyed our week at Casa Azul. Everything was exactly as advertised and Jim and Lori were fabulous hosts. Jim even went to the market to purchase me some cochinita pibil before we arrived and had it waiting in the fridge! We rented a moto for the week and I do think this location is best served with transportation of some kind, if you want to get out and explore the island. If you prefer to stay closer to home, there were several wonderful restaurants and the Chedraui all within walking distance. We loved being in a local neighborhood and in the center of the island. Our accommodations were clean and everyone was extremely friendly - we felt like we went to visit family or friends instead of a vacation rental. Thanks for a wonderful stay!"

  • First time in a condo

"My wife and I usually stay at resorts, so I thought this time we would try a condo close to the beach. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made. :) It's close to the beach one way, and just a little further the other direction to 5th Avenue. Everything is within walking distance; restaurants, bars, stores, it's awesome. The condo itself is wonderful. Everything you could ever want or need is available. It is clean and very comfortable. A full kitchen with utensils, etc., everything in the listing. The infinity pool is wonderful as well, very clean and well-maintained. And the there's the view from the pool out to the beach and ocean. It has to be seen, it's awesome. The owner is very prompt with answering questions and is a pleasure to deal with, everything was easy about the rental. I could probably say alot more, but everything in these reviews is accurate and we will definitely be renting here again."

  • A week at the Palace

"Rating Details: I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was more than happy with the location. The vacation rental was very clean. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Villa was spacious for group of 11. Housekeepers did a good job cleaning. Alex the chef made the week most special, food delicious, even made alterations for our picky eater. Loved location on water and access to beach. Needed improvements: The master bedroom bed had extra padding which needs to be added to all the hard beds. Refrigerator should be replaced, barely chilled drinks. A second frig. should be added for a villa that holds this many guests, or smaller ones in each unit. Villa has peeling/worn off paint on entry doors, worn out, faded upholstery, missing art work, at least remove nails and patch holes. Exterior stucco is molded and needs power washing . Landscaping is so overgrown that only pockets of view can be seen, totally unlike the web pictures. Directions need to be revised, the driveway is right after the scuba diver statue next door. The wall is white stucco, not brick and the landscaping has grown covering the Villa sign. We were lost for a good while in the dark. In spite of it all, we truly enjoyed our stay and would return with other guests if maintenance issues were tended to. It's the kind of place you would return to year after year. Also, Annette in customer service was most helpful. I would advise questioning the management before passing this one by. It was a stunning Villa at the time of the web pictures and could be again with a little TLC."
