  • A wonderful vacation.

"My wife and I stayed at the Casa Blanca Caribe for one month and laying in the warm crystal clear waters was a wonderful daily routine. The owners were extremely attentive to our needs and the communications before and during our stay couldn't have been better. The house is very comfortable and we were occasionally greeted by local fishermen who would sell us part of their daily catch (including Caribbean lobsters). The property surrounding the house is very clean and the trees are loaded with coconuts which we regularly opened. The sea is only steps away so we were in heaven for the month we stayed here. (our dog loved it too.) There is only one downside, they say they have internet service, and yes they do have the equipment but.... it seldom communicates with the Internet in any meaningful, useful way! Very frustrating"

  • Tranquil Paradise

"The coastal town of Mahahaul has grown over the past couple of years from an isolated wide spot in the road to a quaint village with excellent beaches, hotels, restaurants and skin/scuba diving. Plenty to do but not overrun with tourists and at a fraction of the cost of Cancun/Playa del Carmen. Casa del Cielo de las Estrellas puts you within 10 minutes of the town yet offers a serene and tranquil respite from civilization if you just want to lie on the beach and read. The property itself is beautiful and well-maintained by the friendly and responsive caretaker. The house offers three levels of terraces and balconies from which one can see the ocean and enjoy the soothing sound of the surf. The main level offers ample living space and the upstairs bedrooms are large and well-appointed. (Caution: The narrow spiral staircase presents a challenge for larger bodies. I'm 6'4", weigh 250 lbs, and made it without difficulty, albeit slowly and ducking to avoid kabonging my head. It terrified our Labrador.) The kitchen offers only two burners, no stove, but the two outside grills compensate. In short, it's a wonderful place, we (two adults, 14 year old daughter) enjoyed ourselves tremendously, will return and can recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy the Mexican Riviera without Cancun's congestion, loud bars and high prices."

  • Sweeter than Sugar

"My wife, three kids and I stayed at Casa Azucar in July 2014. The house was perfect. We had the beach to ourselves for all four days! This beach was gorgeous. We snorkled, shell hunted and relaxed in the cooling breezes of the Caribbean. Marcia was a great help. She drew a map of town indicating where we could find all of our provisions for some excellent meals. We took an hour drive to Chaccobean to visit this ancient site. We were the only ones there for over two hours, truly magical. I would reccomend this house to anyone looking for a perfect getaway. I just wish I was still there."

  • Magical Mystery Tour

"This was our fifth trip to Mexico. We decided on Mahahual to escape the exponential growth of the Tulum area. I was looking for the perfect place: a clean, well maintained house, a beautiful, sandy swimming beach with good surf, walk in snorkeling, and no people. In short, a fantasy house and a tall order. When I found Casa Playa Maya, Amanda responded to my inquiry immediately. She replied to my many e mails with patience and great humor. After 20 hours of hard traveling, Amanda and Richard greeted us with open arms and a delicious dinner. As the week progressed, we realized what a wonderful wealth of local information they were. We were never let down by any of the advice they gave us, whether it was a dive with Gypsea Divers, an early morning outing to Chacchoben and Bacalar or a tip on where to pick up fruits and veggies in the pueblo. We have previously rented vacation houses throughout the Caribbean and US. Richard and Amanda are kind, trustworthy, hard working people, who want nothing more than for you have the most wonderful experience possible and will do anything they can to make that happen. Of all of the people we have dealt with in our many rental experiences, Amanda and Richard stand out as the best of the best. The house is a gem. It was spotlessly clean and everything was in working order, which is no small achievement for this part of the world. The pictures do not even begin to do it justice and cannot capture the open, airy and breezy spaces. The kitchen is as well equipped as my own at home. We did a major supply up in Tulum on the way down and cooked in most nights. We had fresh fish delivered to the door, as well as breads, fruits, and veggies, too. I am not a fan of cooking on vacation....However, here it was such a unique and satisfying experience that I didn't mind it as much as I thought I would. The snorkeling right off the beach was great. We are avid snorkelers, and this was some of the best "walk in" snorkeling we have done anywhere. When the surf was up, the swimming was amazing... We walked on the beach for miles and saw no one. The only negatives I can say have nothing to do with the house. It is a long drive from Cancun. And, we did miss the dining opportunities of the pueblo in Tulum. We also had tremendous difficulty getting cash. And lastly, the trash. We expected it, but it's still heartbreaking. What a global tragedy. Gracias, mis amigos. We will return!"

Mahahual Travel Tips

Experience Mexico in Majahual Vacation Rentals

For an authentic Mexican vacation, you can get away from the typical tourist spots and come to Majahual. Located in the heart of the Costa Maya region, Majahual villas allow you to see a beautiful part of Mexico that can never be seen from your typical Cancun vacation. Majahual is usually a very quiet town; it only gets busy when the occasional cruise ship stops by. And as the very center of the Costa Maya, Majahual is definitely worth the drive from Cancun or Chetumal.

Majahual Villas are more than Beach Houses

While the beach is a major draw in this town, Quintana Roo condos in Majahual give you access to much more than just the Gulf of Mexico. Majahual is an access point for tours to the Mayan ruins of Kohunlich or Chacchoban. It is also very close to the town of Bacalar, home to the Cenote Azul, a naturally formed deep water pond which is perfect for swimming or diving in calm, clear water. Also, only 25 kilometers north of Majahual is Uvero Beach Club, which advertizes the unique opportunity to go swimming with dolphins.

Mexican Food in Majahual

Because Majahual has only recently begun catering to tourists, most of the restaurants in Majahual are intended mainly for the locals. So, if you’re looking to vacation at a place with lots of authentic Mexican food, you need look no further than Majahual. Just as staying in Majahual vacation rentals will make you feel more like a native, so will the experience of eating real Mexican food, just like the locals. This is an experience that is harder to find in more commonly visited areas, where American restaurants are easier to find than Mexican. So, dust off your Spanish dictionary, and visit Majahual!
