"Overall we really loved this house and how secluded it was from the tourists of Mexico. Others have commented a lot on how beautiful the beach and house are and we all felt the same way. The house is probably most comfortable with 6 or less (we were 5). It is a beautifully designed building with large open bedrooms and great outdoor spaces. The palapa, hammocks and upstairs deck were our favorite hangout spots. The caretaker, Avila, that lives on the property was sweet and friendly (speaking spanish was a must) and even brought us coconuts to sip on the beach. Susan was very thoughtful and hooked us up with local organic eggs (from KM 5 farm stand discussed in the rental packet). She also also gave good recommendations on where to buy food, which sites to visit and roughly how long it takes to get places which proved useful. Because of the reef, the ocean had almost no chop, was extremely shallow out to 100 ft and would be safe for swimmers of any age. This also means that there was a lot of seaweed that naturally washes up and the water can be murkier in some spots. We had a little problem with the solar batteries but the caretakers and Susan handled the problem so we were never really without power. Mahahual is a cute town with a board walk and is really only busy when the cruise boats are in town. This location is perfect if you want to get out of tourist locations but be prepared for longer drives to site-seeing destinations. We wanted a place to relax for the week (ex: one of us was studying for the bar) and this quiet location was perfect for the seclusion we wanted."

"Just returned from our family vacation in Casa Blanca. The house was amazing everything about the home was perfect, it's the perfect Eco beach home, the elevation ensures the ocean breezes keep the house comfortable all the time. The beach and sea were amazing. Our young daughter enjoyed the beach and kayaking. The owners did everything to make our stay perfect from recommendations for dinner to the details of the best rock pools to explore. I would highly recommend the home to anyone and we can't wait to go back."

"This house is wonderfully designed and very comfortable. It is located at one of the better beaches and conveniently close to the crossroad to the "fast road" to and from town. It runs off the grid but is state of the art so one would hardly notice.
Nice beds are hard to find in Mexico and here is where you will find one. Another rarity down here are the good quality pots and pans that accompany this well equipped kitchen. All of the rooms are nicely appointed and comfortable. The caretaker is almost invisible unless you need him!
The view from the master bedroom and just about every other room is stunning! We particularly enjoyed the palapa out front.
As far as pros and cons go, the only negative we had was that there was only one hammock downstairs. I am here to tell you that the deck off of the master bedroom is begging to have 2 hammocks!...pretty minor,eh?
If staying in a luxurious house on a secluded beach is your idea of a great time then this is the spot for you!"

"We just had the pleasure of staying for one week in the beautiful beachfront villa, Casa Maria, north of Mahahual. The owners, Dana and Suzanne, were always available via email for question, suggestions, and helpful tips for the area. The house itself is stunning with a very isolated, private beachfront location. My sister joined us and loved having her own upstairs bedroom with a beautiful ocean view. The home is spacious and has plenty of everything you need. Just bring all your groceries, and some condiments, with you. Claudio, the caretaker was always available for any help we needed. We went on many adventures while there: Chacchoben ruins, Bacalar Lagoon, and a great, isolated snorkeling beach one north of the house on the beach road. Mahahual is a very small fishing village that is now a cruise ship port but there were no ships in port during our stay which was perfect. We ate at NochKay at the south end of the Malecon and had the best fresh fish dinner I have ever had. Three entrees and 2 drinks each and the bill was less than $50 US. We also enjoyed a couple days on the beach at Tropicante where we got snacks and drinks served to us all day. Mahahual is great for scuba diving but it was too windy during our stay to go diving. We had dinner at Mayan Beach Garden hotel just 3 minutes north of the home. The owner, Marcia, was also helpful with ideas for snorkeling spots. One draw back, which some may consider a plus, is that the house is at least 30 minutes from Mahahual so going into town for meals took a bit longer than we had anticipated. The AC can only be run at night and the generator is so loud I hated running it for fear of disturbing Claudio. But for the beauty, views, serenity, and comfort of the home, Casa Maria can't be beat! Thank you Dana and Suzanne!"
