  • Akumal February 2015

"La Bahia is a great building. Service from the property management team was top notch. The unit that we stayed in #3 is quaint. It is a little outdated but living space is comfortable. The bedrooms with their own bathrooms are a nice layout, however the beds are terrible. We were advised several times that the second bedroom could and would be setup with a king size bed (pushing the two singles together, etc) not only was this not done the beds aren't the same height and the mattresses are rock hard and the edges even worse, therefore when pushed together with no bumper or connection piece, makes for a very uncomfortable sleep. The king size bed in the other bedroom at least had a small foam on top but was still very hard and uncomfortable. We cooked during our stay and also had Chef Daveed cook for us (wonderful experience) and we had temperature trouble with the oven. Things took way longer. Also if you are wine drinkers, there was not one wine glass in the cupboards. All things considered, we loved Akumal and La Bahia and would recommend it to all! With new beds or better sleeping conditions we would definitely rent this condo again."

  • Great Experience!!

"What a great experience for our first time using VRBO. Thank you for a wonderful accommodation in Cozumel. This was the first time we did a “condo” instead of all inclusive. It was a really nice change!! It took us a few days to get acclimated and into a routine but once we got everything figured out (groceries, taxis, etc.) then we REALLY could relax and enjoy our vacation. It was superb! The unit is very well appointed although we would recommend a toaster! We started laughing about it a few days in to our trip because it seemed we could never quite use the toaster oven without burning the bread! It certainly wasn’t a big deal and we actually started to joke about it and got lots of laughs throughout the process! We had some tremendous meals including El Moro, Guido’s and Alberto’s on the beach just south of Residencias Reef. Alberto’s seafood dinner for two was wonderful – tasted fresh out of the sea!! We rented a car for two days (THANK YOU LUIS for your help!) and explored the other side of the island (Coconuts and Rasta’s) and loved the majestic scenery and the slow pace!! We hope to come visit Cozumel again someday and we will look you up the next visit!!! Thank you very much Patsy & Jerry!!"

  • Great Stay

"We spent two weeks at this villa with friends. The beach was farther than the 5 minutes quoted in the description but that really wasn't a problem since we had rented a car. Frankie, the caretaker, was great. He was always willing to help with any problem we encountered. We felt very safe in the little gated community. For all of you who are walkers, it was about 20 minutes or so to the north end of Tulum. It's an easy walk but gets pretty hot in mid-day. The house was very clean and quite roomy, the kitchen was well equipped (although we did have to ask for a replacement toaster as ours didn't work), closets were large, all linens were furnished. Washer and dryer worked well. We visited Coba, Muyil, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Punta Allen (I wouldn't recommend this drive except in a 4-wheel drive vehicle) and several other areas in the vicinity. The cenotes at Coba were great! Overall, this was a really good experience. We had a few problems - the internet wouldn't connect a lot of the time (Malu, the property manager, tried to address this as soon as we reported it but apparently it is difficult to get people out to work on that type of problem) and our grill fell apart as soon as we started to put the fish on. It was quite pleasant to sit on the patio or by the pool at the beginning and end of each day and we did a lot of that. The complex was quiet and the neighbors were friendly. Lucky, the dog, was an excellent bonus as she came to visit several times a day. I would recommend staying at this villa when visiting Tulum."

  • Amazing condo, beach, and memories!

"THANK YOU BRENT AND DAY for sharing your beautiful condo! We were thrilled with unit #701 and the breathtaking views from the large terrace. Each day we were in awe of how spectacular the beach/ocean looked--so crystal clear blue! Every window has an amazing view, whether out to Playa Norte (voted one of the Top 10 Beaches in the world) or south toward town and the rest of the island. Isla Mujeres is only 1/2 mile wide and 5-miles long, and the condo sits right at the end of Hidalgo Ave. the main street on the north side of the island. It is a short walk from the ferry (we booked the Transportation package through Ixchel and were pleased with their service, no hassles, even bottled water waiting for us at the airport). The condo came equipped with all the necessities-- AC, a full kitchen (the stove isn't available for use, but you don't need it...the food choices are plentiful all within walking distance or a golf-cart ride away!), ice maker/refrigerated purified water plus a separate garrafon water stand at room temp, two bathrooms--one with a huge walk-in shower complete with bench, a king-sized bed that is oh-so-comfy, beach/water toys to use including floaties and snorkel gear, and the lanai- which really is more of a extended room including a patio table, BBQ, two Adirondack Chairs, an L-shaped couch, and two reclining loungers that we used daily! The breeze was perfect to cool us off while taking in the magnificent sunrises and sunsets, and to enjoy the bottle of wine provided- gracias! The staff at the Ixchel are friendly and helpful, especially Mauricio who speaks English fluently, and Christina at the front desk. Wifi is an issue/very spotty, but hey, you're on vacation in a stunning setting so nothing was THAT important for us. We would highly recommend going to Ruben's for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner! Super yummy, big portions, and very reasonably priced. What a dear, sweet gentleman! Also, don't miss Mango Cafe...you'll need to rent a Golf Cart to get there, as it's mid-island, but WELL-WORTH the trip, as is the beautiful Guadalupe Church across the street. We went around the rest of the island-enjoyed the east side with the walkway, rocky coastline and Caribbean views, the Mayan Ruins on the south side, and the Turtle Farm on the west, with views of Cancun. (FYI: the west side, called Sac Bajo stinks of raw sewage..ick..which pollutes the lagoon..so sad!) Overall, Unit #701 is BEAUTIFUL, on the BEST beach, with STUNNING views! A+++"
