"this was our 4th stay @ palma real (1st stay in this unit). easily the best views in the entire complex. as a repeat visitor to palma real we knew what to expect & we were not disappointed. the condo unit itself has most everything you need. you will need to purchase condiments for cooking & extra toilet paper but that's about it. Gustavo the pool & maintenance guy continues to keep all areas clean. Carlos the property manager is a wealth of information & very helpful. the owner was very easy to deal with & answered any questions we had. on those days that you need to chill inside, the owner has provided Netflix which was wonderful as we needed a break from the sun & heat.
complaints - no safe in the unit (so you may want to find a hiding place for valuables while you out). the unit advertises a dryer, however the dryer does not product hot air (only cool air) as there is no vent. we experienced the same situation in other units. neither of these complaints will discourage us from revisiting palma real."

"This Condo is one of a 18 unit condo, we have stayed in Casita Blanca before, but in one of the other 2 building that was in front of the pool. This condo is special in that it is to the far left of the complex, or if you are on the extremely white, powder sugar beach it is on the far right. This is very nice feature, as you still have the ocean view but are away from the pool activity of the other guests, so you can have peace and quiet, and if you want to join in the pool fun there are plenty of thatched umbrellas, and lots of sun beds. The condo also has a private side patio, completely hidden from other eyes, so you can sun bake, 100% a-natural and you also have a lawn area that is sunny in the morning and shaded in the after noon to park your sunbeds on. Only a 2 minute walk from condo to the ocean, i was going to say surf line, however being on the inside of the barrier reef the highest wave, or ripple is knee high. Puerto Morelos is special in that it has remained a small fishing village. The condo has been remodeled and has lovely granite countertops, which the other units do not have, they are more basic tile, I also liked the fact that it is on the ground floor, so no stari climbing. I am defineately returning."

"We stayed for a week and got to rediscover Puerto Morelos in a whole new way.
On the property itself, the pool area proved to be very private and peaceful with a choice of sun or shade through most of the day. The property was freshly cleaned when we arrived and completely re-cleaned half way through our visit. Someone came and maintained the pool every couple of days which was really comforting because I've been on the bad side of pool chemical imbalance in the past and it's not fun!
The vast upper floor offers a unique sleeping experience and open windows and fans kept the temperature manageable. The downstairs bedroom is air conditioned for those who prefer a bit more temperature control. The kitchen is well equipped and you could easily cook there, although we pretty much had the strategy of shopping for breakfast and lunch but going out for dinner each night. The other life essential (wifi ;) worked great.
The owners have been friendly and helpful throughout and found a great balance between making us feel at home, and welcoming us to their second home. They clearly take pride in their property and how they run their business.
The house is 2 minutes walk from the beach and 20 minutes walk (or a few minutes drive) from Puerto Morelos itself. We spent some lazy days around the house and it was magic.
Town had some great restaurants.. surprisingly good. The usual tourist type places which are always fun, but also Grays Kitchen and Richards with high end cuisine.
For things to do, firstly I'd recommend to anyone doing this kind of vacation to rent a car. I don't think we would have had the same experience without the ability to hop into town for dinner, or go the few miles back to the highway to the supermarket.
Locally, I highly recommend the $25 snorkeling trip out to the reef from Puerto Morelos harbor. Also Jungle Spa which is a cross between ancient mayan healing and a traditional massage.. mind blowing for those with an open mind. If you want some beach time then your choice is just to head to the beach and bring what you need, or head towards town and find Unico. It's the hotel type of beach experience.. loungers, umbrellas and food and drink service. All very reasonable.
We came to really love Puerto Morelos. It's a combination of rough-around-the-edges real mexico but also a friendly tourist destination. Will definitely recommend to others."

"We recently returned from a 3 night stay here, and had a really nice time. The place was beautiful and the staff was awesome. The geckos are a little noisy, but hey, it's their home all the time, we just were visitors! We walked into town a few times, and ate. A couple of restaurants there, which were very good. If you are expecting an all inclusive type of resort this is not for you, but if peace and quiet and cooking a few of your own meals is what you're looking for, then THIS is paradise!"
