  • Best spot on the bay for a fabulous beach vacay!

"Our party of 10 (2 families, 8 kids ages 4-17) just had the best vacation at Casa Playa Maya (CPM) and an adjacent casita. We will definitely be back! Over the years I've rented a home in Playacar (now hyper expensive and crowded), a condo on Half Moon Bay (N Akumal, now also very crowded and beach access can be difficult, IF you want to fight the seaweed invasion), and a home on Jade Bay (S Akumal, very pricey and the rocky beach access means you have to go elsewhere to enjoy that); CPM outshines them all. First, location, location, location... Casa Playa Maya is in an ideal spot on Soliman Bay--right in the center with direct access to calm, clear, warm turquoise water and incredible snorkeling. We saw turtles, rays, eels, and too many species of colorful fish to count. We were in the water or on it the whole time. The seaweed invasion plaguing the area this year is barely noticeable at CPM, while the mansions at the ends of the bay (particularly south) are inundated with the stinky stuff. Hardworking caretakers raking and hauling simply can't keep up. Second, you couldn't ask for more diligent, attentive, and kind caretakers. Pedro meticulously cleaned the beach and grounds early each morning, and cut coconuts from the trees for the kids to enjoy. Lidia's cooking is incredible--don't miss her mixed seafood ceviche and guacamole. We enjoyed it with dinner on arrival after a long travel day, and had her prepare it again a couple days later for our happy hour. She also does dishes and makes beds, cleans baths, and most importantly, gets the sand out of the house daily. Bill, the owner, is SO helpful, laid back, and accommodating--his one-page rental agreement is a true testament to his nature to keep things simple, as well as the trust he has in his visitors. The home is cozy, comfortable, clean, and well maintained. It's a beach bungalow, not fancy by any means but has everything one needs for a comfortable stay that provides the optimal beach experience. I love the local architecture and how the home blends in with the area; our kids thought it was SO cool to sleep in the loft right under the palapa. Kitchen is well equipped. Internet is mostly reliable. The bedrooms are air conditioned and HUGE, with great patios and fridges. Inflatables available to accommodate any sleeping arrangement. There is no "common" bath though, so everyone has to use the ones in the bedrooms. We simply loved it and can't wait to return. Highly recommended!"

  • Next great vacation at TE

"Again, we spent amazing 2 weeks in paradise! The house was very comfortable for family of 7, well equipped and very clean. We relaxed on the beach, snorkeled, swam and had greatest time ever! As every year, we did not want to leave and will be back next winter!"

  • Awesome!

"I stayed in the Yin suite for a week. All information required to get to Casa Aquamarine was communicated effectively prior to arrival. I was met at the gate by Salvador, Manuela & Israel ( I hope I got their names correct..) and they showed me around. They are absolutely fantastic caretakers of the property & the guests, and really make you feel special. I wish I had employees as good.. The property is better than I expected... Absolutely top notch in every way...absolutely. Solimon Bay is a quiet stretch of beautiful beach, with enough snorkelling to keep oneslf amused. A restaurant down the beach to the right at Hotel Jashita was quite good, but perhaps a bit too refined for my tastes. Oscar Y Lalo out on the highway was a great restaurant, and I would head there before Jashita personally. I wish I owned such a piece of paradise."

  • Healing Spa

"We just recently returned from a most relaxing and magical stay in Soliman Bay. We have been coming to the Bay for many years. This was our second visit to Casakoolba and we have already reserved again for next year. Word is getting out about how great this beach house is and high season gets booked early. The pictures just don't do it justice! Most of the other reviews have told the story better than I. I love the Bay for snorkeling, kayaking, just floating around in the crystal turquoise water, and walking to the north and south "points". I love Casakoolba for the expansive porch which is really an additional living and dining area, the folding doors that open the house up to nature and the ocean breezes, the main bedroom with its tall palapa ceiling, the wood floors, the shaded front yard (chit and coco palms) with a palapa by the water with hammocks and lounge chairs... Casakoolba is located at the north end of the bay which tends to have warmer and calmer water. There is a sandy path through the turtle grass, and lots of coral heads to investigate within easy snorkeling distance. Casakoolba is truly is the "House of Letting Go". The salty ocean breezes and the warm water are very soothing and cleansing. Massages by Lucia are very healing. The caretakers Manuel and Marta do an excellent job of caring for the property and guests comforts."
