  • Great stay

"We stayed 10 days in Villa Geminis and would definitely go back. The owner and the staff were great and the location was perfect . We have 3 small children and it was perfect for our family. Also a great yoga studio 1 block away which was a great bonus."

  • Lovely home...but boy is the road there rough

"We stayed at Casa Sophia for a week this December. The home is lovely and the staff is the BEST!! Be warned however, that the Boca Pailla road once you pass the arch in the Sian Kaan is TERRIBLE!! It doesn't improve with work either. You MUST have an SUV or high clearance vehicle to drive to this home. The pot holes are the width of the entire road and their depth measures in feet not inches. That said, the home is great and has everything you could possibly need. The beach is reached by going down a set (about 20) of fairly steep stairs and the beach itself is very narrow with no room to place beach chairs above the water line (except in the foliage). However, you can walk a few yards either way and have room for a blanket or towel if you choose. The beach is totally secluded and in our week there, I think we only saw about 6 or 8 people walk by or in the water nearby. Ladies...don't plan on bringing a hair dryer or curling iron to this home - it will not support the wattage needed to run either of those appliances, so just go au natural. Our family had plenty of room to spread out and still each have our own "space". I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if the road to the house was better. With that said...we will be staying on the paved portion of the Tulum Beach road north of the Arch from now on. However, in all fairness...if you don't care about going out to dinner at night and are happy to stay in - this is a fantastic place (clean, beautiful, secluded, quite) and the staff is WONDERFUL!!"

  • WOW!!

"This property is a knockout. The beach and pool are beautiful with a non- stop ocean breeze. This is a favorite spot for sea turtles to nest and hatch. It was my first opportunity to see these great creatures laying, and I can't wait to get back to see them hatching. A short walk will get you to an incredible cenote/dive shop or to a beach lunch of fresh fish fried whole to a crispy brown. The friendly staff is eager to please."

"We frequent the area because it is easy travel for us and predictible. We live in the northern U.S., so it is a great winter getaway. The weather has always been close to perfect. The Cancun airport is easy, as is the travel from the airport to this home. We always rent a car. There is a decent grocery store in Tulum, but there are many great restaurants closeby. Our favorite little joint between Cancun and this home is Turtle Bay Cafe in Akamal. My daughter thinks they have the best smoothies anywhere hands-down (perhaps just nostalgic, but they are good!) We eat at most restaurants without concern (but we always ask if they use purified water/ice). We are a little more careful cooking with food/water when at home (use iodine to clean everything). This is an absolutely Lovely Home. Everything was as it looked in the photos. We visited and stayed with only four of us(2 adults, 15 yo and 11 yo). It would be a great spot for multi-family gatherings or other larger group. The description says 6 bedrooms, which is accurate. However, two of the rooms also have separate sitting rooms with a couch that converts to a comfortable bed, which is separated from the main bedroom by heavy curtains, so each could be easily used for another sleeping room. The private outdoor space makes this home even more special. We did not use it, but the roof top deck is huge and would be a great place for a party. It is very convenient to have the pool, hammocks, paddle boarts, kayaks and life jackets all availbale for your use. it is very peaceful. The caretakers on-site and owner, (Nancy in CA) are both responsive and good to work with. The wi-fi is a little hit or miss. Also, there are lot of weeds off shoreline, so you need to paddle out a distance to swim. It is a calm bay, which is great for boating, snorkeling. Don't anticipate riding waves here. There are several fun activities in the area if you are looking for adventure. We love the beach at Tulum. There are some good restaurants there. We prefer the ruins at Coba over Chichen Itza. We also recommend the 4 in 1 tour with zip lines, skycyle, cavern rappal and cave snorkel and XPLOR. We did the XPLOR Fuego (night time with fire) and would highly recommend it (avoid the lines & the heat and it is fun to do at night). I would pick the latter if just picking one. Enjoy. It's a beautiful place!"
