  • Semana Santa (Easter 2015)

"I arrived for Semana Santa and was greeted by Kim the caretaker. He took care to make sure everyone in my party (including my two cats) were comfortable, and went above and beyond in these duties. He made the snorkeling and kayaking experiences easy and very enjoyable. We appreciate his generosity for the entire two week vacation afforded us at Casa del Sol, and Mio Maya. I was also available to assist Kim in greeting and caring for other vacationers during Semana Santa. By translating the occasional comment or advice in Spanish for two such parties, I was able to ascertain their complete satisfaction and was happy to pass on their excellent reviews as well. Thank you for a lovely vacation, with pristine snorkelling, and an adventure in the wild National Park of Mexico's south."

  • As Advertised - You won't be Disappointed

"Before our stay, we were treated to great communication and making arrangements with one of the house owners, Tom. Tom and his wife were very responsive and accommodating when our plans changed. It was great to work with them prior to our arrival which isn't always the case when planning to rent a home. Thanks Tom!!!! We stayed at the Casa de Paloma for five nights. Our primary focus was fishing which made for very long days on the water and away from the house. Each day when we returned to the house, it was amazing to return to a clean casa and be able to cool down with a refreshing beverage then head our for dinner. The location of the house is perfect as our fishing guide, Jose with Jose Xcalak Tours, would pick us up and drop us off at the house every date. We were close enough to town to make it easy to have dinner in town every night. The house itself if beautiful, well cared for, clean, and has everything you need. In fact, the house may have more than what you need as the furnishings seemed a little grand for the size of the house but you defiantly won't go without during your visit. The true blessing of the house was the caretaker, Rosa. She cleaned the house everyday while we were gone fishing and even did our dishes - heaven!!!!! Rent this house and you won't be disappointed and most likely will not want to leave."

  • The most amazing hotel ever! It was really the highlight of our trip!

"This is by far the best hotel I’v ever stayed in! Me and my boyfriend was just blowened away. The rooms were incredible. They had just thought about every single detail. And the view… WOW! Every morning I woke up doing my yoga in the morning sun on the big wonderful terrace outside our bedroom (a yoga persons dream!), and afterwords we had breakfast there in the sun looking out over the sea. The house is just on the beach and a few meters from the the crystal clear water where you can walk twenty meters out and the water will still be just up to your knees. This place is just perfect for families with little once, or families with older children, for couples or just to go by your self. Just about 50 meters out in the sea there is a coral reef (!) where me and my boyfriend went snorkeling with Phiippe, one of the house owners! This was crazy unbelievable! Philippe leaded us through this amazing labyrinth of corals, just like the corals had builded a road between their walls. Amazing fishes, big and small, surrounded us. Philippe showed us a huge lobster and I never in my life thought I would swim so close to a ray! Close to the house, on the other side, there is a beautiful lake (where you can borrow a little boat) that we unfortunate didn’t had time to explore. The house also have kayaks you can borrow. Next to the house lives a little family, Luc and Teo and there beautiful little daughter. This couple cleans and takes care of the house. And they are doing a fantastic job I most say. We asked them to prepare a chicken for us and wow… this was the most juicy, tasty and amazing chicken I’v ever eaten in my life! This secret place, far away from the city, is an Mexican treasure. I’m so glad I went there and I just need to come back! On our trip in Mexico we explored Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Akumal, Cobá, Cichen Itza, Valladolid, Hollbox, Cancun and of course Xcalac and this was truly the highlight of our trip! At last I want to give a BIG thank you to the amazing couple, Gisele and Philippe, who owns this beautiful house. They was so warm and welcoming and was just fantastic and helpful through our stay in Casa Caracola. All the time taking care of us and making sure everything was perfect made it even more special than it already was. Thank you so much Gisele, Philippe, Lus and Teo A big hug from Sweden! • Simply Outstanding!

"I won't repeat what all the other reviewers have said, but simply let you view my videos and judge for yourself (links at end of review). This is not touristville, but real Mexico... beautiful, warm, safe, peaceful, rejuvenating, perfect... We went bone fishing. We went snorkeling. We went kayaking. We slept in. We read books. We took naps. We ate too much! The owners are great people, great communicators, and gave us more than promised. The caretakers were like family who knew enough to give you your space and privacy. We've been several times to Hawaii, to Florida, to Puerto Vallarta, to Cozumel, and as cliche' as it sounds, this truly was the best vacation we've ever had. These were just shot with my phone.
