  • Fantastic Location

"A great place in a great location. Some days we had the beachfront to ourselves. This compared to the beach in Akumal where you were lucky to get a square yard of beach! The owners have thought of everything that guests might need while there and more. Daily maid service was great and we also enjoyed virtually exclusive access to the rooftop to enjoy a nice sunset. A few more highlights - a 5 minute walk on the beach to La Buena Vista restaurant - a nice little home based restaurant across the way for some great local Mexican food Some tips: - Ask the owner of the condo. She was very helpful in providing tips and advice and after trying some of her suggestions they proved very accurate! For example, the owner suggested that we dive with Natalie and Ivan, we did and Ivan was fantasic. - It is a 1km walk into the resort area of Akumal. If you can do it, it is a nice walk but pack a pair of running shoes. - The few souvineer shops that are there are pricey but they are open to negotiation. Groceries there are expensive, but convenient. - if you are leaving Half Moon Bay or Akumal, taxis can be quite expensive. Generally $20 to $30 US one way to go almost anywhere. Next time I would rent a car. - don't stop at Wal-Mart in Playa for groceries. We were disappointed with the selection of food and drinks. Overall a fantastic experience and we hope to return."

  • Third time just as charming as first

"This is the third time my husband and I have stayed at this property. I can only say that it is wonderful in so many ways. Comments made in other reviews are still true. This visit we did more snorkeling in Half Moon Bay and saw some incredible schools of fish. You can rent snorkeling equipment at the office. You definitely will enjoy your stay here. The office staff speak good English if you need anything. The housekeeping staff clean every day and leave everything spotless. There is a big jug of water to use and it is replenished when needed. We always look forward to our stay here. If you are looking for a place to really relax this is it. Comments made by other reviewers are accurate."

  • A week in paradise

"Rating Details: I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was more than happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Forget your all inclusive vacations, and think Villa. Viva la Villa! Our family group holiday of 10 looked forward with anticipation to the villa shown in the pictures, but they were eclipsed by the reality of the lovely location and traditional Mexican buildings. The beach is just a few steps away, your own private pool whenever you feel like a dip, complete privacy, what more could you ask for? The decision to have in-villa meals provided by local ladies was something we all enjoyed, meals were varied, always served with a smile, in quantities that guaranteed a weight gain. The household janitorial staff were quiet and kept the villa "ship-shape" all week long. We would recommend this villa to any large family group. One word of caution, the beach is somewhat rocky, and rubber overshoes would be recommended for walking in the ocean"

  • Too Brief A Stay At Casa Trahan

"We had but 4 nights at this luxury condo with our daughter, son-in-law and two teen grandsons. We were delighted! Beautifully furnished and fully equipped, this spotless property is managed by the group also responsible for condos at Residencias Reef where we've also stayed. A few tiny issues were corrected same day (a toaster and shower handle). A new dishwasher is being installed soon. My wife and I stayed in the road-facing 3rd BR and our love for open windows and ceiling fan exposed us to road noise. An avoidable issue had we opted instead for AC. Our other four slept like babies in their sea-facing rooms. We opted to rent a Surburban to tool around the island, a bargain through LessPay's used rental vehicle operation, our second experience. This is an excellent property! Snorkeling and drifting off the property was our best ever, yards from the coral encrusted wall of the shore, then walking back barefooted from beaches just north."

Quintana Roo Travel Tips

Quintana Roo has Perfect Beaches and Much More

The Mexican state of Quintana Roo is on the eastern part of Yucatán Peninsula. It is home to some of the best vacation areas in the country. Some visitors come seeking activity all day and dancing all night; others come for the tranquility of large beaches and warm seas. While the capital city of Quintana Roo is Chetumal, the state also includes Cancún, the islands of Cozumel, Isla Mujheres, and towns such as Bacalar, Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Playa del Carmen. Other places to visit are Puerto Juárez, Akumal, and Puerto Morelos. Remnants of the ancient Mayan civilization abound here, such as at Chaccbhoben, Coba, Kohunlich, Muyil, Tulum, Xel-Há, and Xcaret. And that is just a few! This is a large area, great for mixing relaxing on the beach with some water sports thrown in and day trips in an array of beautiful towns and ancient ruins.

Being geared to tourism, Quintana Roo is easy to explore and most people coming here take advantage of the many options to get around the area. Most choose to arrive via Cancún International Airport and many take a rental car option for maximum freedom to explore. Many choose Quintana Roo Mexico vacation rentals for the same reasons.

Beaches, Water Sports and Theme Parks Galore

Cancún, known as the Mexican Caribbean, sits on the Yucatán Channel and is a world-famous tourist location. Visitors here will enjoy some of the best beaches in the world with an exceptional amount of water sports, such as diving, swimming with dolphins and deep sea fishing. A short ferry ride takes visitors to the beautiful Isla Mujeres and one of the many attractions here is the incredible seafood! The island is a favorite for those who enjoy snorkeling and scuba diving on the many coral reefs. Another major attraction here is the facility for the rescue and breeding of sea turtles. Cancún has great shopping and a variety of theme parks, such as Xplor, Xcaret Eco Park and Xel-Ha.

For those who find the lure of exploration, the Riviera Maya will be a great experience. People come here for the archaeological sites, such as Coba and Tulum.

The town of Bacalar sits on a lagoon of the same name. This beautiful town dates from the 16th century and has a fascinating history of piracy. The 17th-century Fortress de San Felipe Bacalar is now a wonderful tourist attraction.

Those seeking quieter Quintana Roo Mexico resorts have many options to choose from. Puerto Morelos, with its mangrove swamp, or Akumal, meaning "place of the turtles" would make great options. There are many smaller resorts that are less crowded but with equally wonderful beaches and shopping. They are also within close proximity to larger towns for more lively activities.

Archaeological Sites to See

No visit to Quintana Roo Mexico condos is complete without exploring some of the incredible ancient sites in this region. Visitors will enjoy heading into the jungle to visit these sites. Bonampak is famous for its graphic murals of human sacrifice! Kohunlich, Dzibanche and Oxtankah are famous for the lush jungle, exotic birds and wildlife. Bring your bathing suit to Tulum, the "Walled City" where the beach is next to the site. Visitors can view the Fresco remnants before heading for a swim. Accessible by river via long boats is Yaxchilan. Deep in the Chiapas jungle, this site includes several Mayan ruins and is well worth a visit.

Make Your Vacation Perfect with the Perfect Accommodation
