  • Great place to stay on Isla Mujeres

"During my vacation on the Mayan Riviera, I stayed in 3 different places, Casa De Katy, was the best place that I had stayed. The house was very reasonably priced (please don't raise the rates now). There were many things that stood out for us in the house. The house was spectacularly clean and well outfitted. Obviously there is a great deal of pride taken with this house. The house is very private and safe, if you like coconuts, there is a ample supply on the property. The only thing I could not find was a machete. It would have made getting into the coconuts a bit easier. Casa De Katy is one of those places that I remember when thinking about my vacation."

  • Wonderful family vacation!

"Luna Encantada was easily one of the best family vacation sites we've had, truly a home away from home. We were greeted at the secure gate, and taken immediately to our 3 bedroom condo. The on-site help was always prompt and available. Jose was so helpful; he even brought a fan for our bedroom since we were used to having the "white noise." A ceiling leak from the upper floor was immediately addressed. Although just across from a bar/grill, the noise never bothered us at night. (A few pesky footfalls from above, but that can happen at any resort/hotel.) The infinity pool, grounds and beach were spotless. Gabriel at the beach was so nice and helpful with umbrellas, drinks and chairs. (One could walk a long ways on the beautiful white sand beach.) We made use of the laundry daily, as well as the kitchen. Less than a block away, was Fifth Avenue, where we enjoyed many shops, restaurants, and miscellaneous businesses. After a few days, we even let our kids go without us to shop. The view from our patio was spectacular. Many hours were spent there just listening to the waves and enjoying the view. Also a perfect spot to watch the pool, if our kids were swimming. (*Teens, not toddlers.) There were several excursion kiosks right on the beach near our condo. Our family did snorkeling, para-sailing and jet-skiing. Also, massage and yoga right next door. (Our extended family who joined us, really enjoyed deep sea fishing with Ivan, which was booked online before our trip. (Highly recommend Fishing with Ivan, which was a short cab ride away.) Yaxche Mayan Restaurant was very good, and just a couple blocks from us on 5th was Cafe de la Mer, an upstairs restaurant which was fabulous. Housekeeping came as much or as little as you wanted, and they were great! I cannot wait to go back here. Loved it so much more than any hotel or resort, and I have been to quite a few. The mega (groceries) and Walmart were walking distance, (maybe a mile) but a cab is needed to carry stuff back. LOVED this place the best out of all my 10 or so, trips to Cancun/Playa del Carmen. Can't wait to return!"

  • Very hard to beat

"I will get the 'negatives' out of the way first. The porch is quite small but good enough for coffee or a quiet drink for 2. However, with two pool areas, including a fantastic infinity pool with great views, a porch with sun-beds is not necessary. The infinity pool and roof area is truly amazing and very relaxing. We only had a 'crowd' one day when a family with teenagers and friends were there. Otherwise it was almost private. The other slight negative is that we were not told that the restaurant attached to the property had delivery service to the roof top pool. I think that adding a sign (plus maybe a direct phone connection) would enhance the experience. We brought our own drinks and snacks so it was no big deal but we probably would have ordered lunch a few times. The condo itself is very large and well appointed. Bedroom has a 'walk-in' closet area with ironing board and iron. Bathroom is very spacious and living area and kitchen are excellent. For two people, they provided four bath towels and four beach towels and, for an extra fee, these can be changed (along with a full cleaning service) at midweek. The giant water container lasted the full 2 weeks we were there. Satellite TV has lots of channels and they provided a list of which were available in English. Strangely, no news channel in English but with fast wi-fi service we had enough news available on-line. ESPN was available so I got to see the Open Golf! They also provided beach chairs and an umbrella, plus a boogie board (which remained in the closet!). The beach is really only steps away and is the best beach area in Playa. Not eroded at all, unlike the southern beach which is getting quite narrow. The beach clubs were a tad pricey, so we just used the chairs and went to a couple of the clubs just for lunch. The area is perfect. This was our 7th trip to PDC and we have always stayed at around Calle 10-12. Pueblito is on Calle 38. There are no less than 9 restaurants and cafes with a 2 minute walk between the condo and 5th Avenue. We tried 5 of them (having eaten at some of the others on previous trips) and all were excellent and great value. This side of 5th, north of Av. Constitutientes (sp?) is relatively quiet compared to the south end but is well provided with bars, restaurants and shops. This will be our go to place for the next few trips and, if we have extra guests, we may try one of the condos with a roof top private lounge area and plunge pool. Super place."

  • Wish We Were There Again!

"We awoke to sub-zero temperatures here in Iowa again this morning, which caused us to longingly recall the wonderful time we had during our year end stay at Xaman-Ha. The stay included our son, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren. The condo was a perfect fit for our group of seven and well situated to the beach, pool, ferry to Cozumel and the 5th Ave. shops and restaurants. The ground floor location was a real plus with a great view of the gardens, pool and beach and the morning and evening visits from the funny looking rabbit like Agouti. The condo owner and staff were all most helpful, friendly and accommodating throughout the entire booking process and our stay. Importantly as well, it was a safe and secure environment for our grandchildren. Given the opportunity we would most certainly return to this property."

Quintana Roo Travel Tips

Quintana Roo has Perfect Beaches and Much More

The Mexican state of Quintana Roo is on the eastern part of Yucatán Peninsula. It is home to some of the best vacation areas in the country. Some visitors come seeking activity all day and dancing all night; others come for the tranquility of large beaches and warm seas. While the capital city of Quintana Roo is Chetumal, the state also includes Cancún, the islands of Cozumel, Isla Mujheres, and towns such as Bacalar, Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Playa del Carmen. Other places to visit are Puerto Juárez, Akumal, and Puerto Morelos. Remnants of the ancient Mayan civilization abound here, such as at Chaccbhoben, Coba, Kohunlich, Muyil, Tulum, Xel-Há, and Xcaret. And that is just a few! This is a large area, great for mixing relaxing on the beach with some water sports thrown in and day trips in an array of beautiful towns and ancient ruins.

Being geared to tourism, Quintana Roo is easy to explore and most people coming here take advantage of the many options to get around the area. Most choose to arrive via Cancún International Airport and many take a rental car option for maximum freedom to explore. Many choose Quintana Roo Mexico vacation rentals for the same reasons.

Beaches, Water Sports and Theme Parks Galore

Cancún, known as the Mexican Caribbean, sits on the Yucatán Channel and is a world-famous tourist location. Visitors here will enjoy some of the best beaches in the world with an exceptional amount of water sports, such as diving, swimming with dolphins and deep sea fishing. A short ferry ride takes visitors to the beautiful Isla Mujeres and one of the many attractions here is the incredible seafood! The island is a favorite for those who enjoy snorkeling and scuba diving on the many coral reefs. Another major attraction here is the facility for the rescue and breeding of sea turtles. Cancún has great shopping and a variety of theme parks, such as Xplor, Xcaret Eco Park and Xel-Ha.

For those who find the lure of exploration, the Riviera Maya will be a great experience. People come here for the archaeological sites, such as Coba and Tulum.

The town of Bacalar sits on a lagoon of the same name. This beautiful town dates from the 16th century and has a fascinating history of piracy. The 17th-century Fortress de San Felipe Bacalar is now a wonderful tourist attraction.

Those seeking quieter Quintana Roo Mexico resorts have many options to choose from. Puerto Morelos, with its mangrove swamp, or Akumal, meaning "place of the turtles" would make great options. There are many smaller resorts that are less crowded but with equally wonderful beaches and shopping. They are also within close proximity to larger towns for more lively activities.

Archaeological Sites to See

No visit to Quintana Roo Mexico condos is complete without exploring some of the incredible ancient sites in this region. Visitors will enjoy heading into the jungle to visit these sites. Bonampak is famous for its graphic murals of human sacrifice! Kohunlich, Dzibanche and Oxtankah are famous for the lush jungle, exotic birds and wildlife. Bring your bathing suit to Tulum, the "Walled City" where the beach is next to the site. Visitors can view the Fresco remnants before heading for a swim. Accessible by river via long boats is Yaxchilan. Deep in the Chiapas jungle, this site includes several Mayan ruins and is well worth a visit.

Make Your Vacation Perfect with the Perfect Accommodation

Visitors to Quintana Roo Mexico vacation rentals will find a huge variety of accommodation options available. Whether it is a spacious home in the heart of the city or a condo close to a quiet beach, you will find the perfect option. Rather than being bound to a room, these homes offer the space to relax and enjoy a welcoming environment. Homes are equipped with everything required to make a perfect vacation even better.
