  • Swiss Family Robinson style vacation - perfectly tropical, secluded, and peaceful!

"We stayed here with a group of friends, 3 couples total and this place was perfect! This is truly off the beaten path with amazing views and a beautiful beach right out your doorstep. We hardly saw anyone while we were there and you can walk miles either direction on the beach without seeing anyone and with uninterrupted views of the Caribbean. There is lots of privacy and the rooms are very comfortable, all have an ocean view. We went in April which was perfect weather and the open air vibe of the place made it very comfortable day and night. Located in the Sian Ka'an biosphere it really is off the grid with solar power and no TV, internet, etc but still has comfortable modern conveniences like running water, hot showers and full kitchens. We did some day excursions to Tulum to see the ruins, a cenote, and ate at a couple of the restaurants on the hotel strip on the way to the house, but we spent most of our time at the house relaxing on the beach and playing cards, reading, swimming, etc. Bringing a vehicle is necessary to stay here and it takes about 45 minutes to trek into town but the remoteness is what lends Caphe Ha its charm. As to be expected in the middle of the biosphere, there is wildlife but it stays outside the rooms for the most part. I recommend bringing a flashlight as it gets very dark at night and its necessary to see when walking between buildings but also makes for awesome star gazing. Roberto and Manuela are the caretakers who live on the property and were extremely helpful with anything we needed. And the best part of it all was truly Manuela's amazing cooking. Anyone who does not hire her to cook meals during their stay will sorely regret it as it is the best food we have ever tasted (and that's coming from a bunch of foodies with high standards)! She cooked two main meals a day for us and also helped keep the place clean, so worth it! Overall we left refreshed, well fed, and content. Caphe Ha is the perfect tropical getaway for anyone wanting a relaxing vacation off the beaten path spiced with a little adventure."

  • Akumal - Casa Palapa Get-a-way

"Pio, Fernando, and Norma take excellent care of the Casa Palapa and provide terrific guidance on what to do and what not to do. Pio knows this area very well and is very personable and fun to talk with. Residents of Akumal know Pio and even called him for us when we made a visit to Akumal. Fernando and Norma are always smiling and making sure your stay is comfortable. We are able to find the great place to stay and enjoy the Mayan Riviera. Probably the best highlight for our family of 5, all the kids being teenagers, is that we got to enjoy the sea turtles coming to the beach to lay eggs and baby sea turtles hatch and run for the sea. Many critters to enjoy while here: Iguana’s, hermit crabs, sea turtles, and regular crabs. Within 20 minutes of this spot were the Tulum Ruins, Dos Ojos Cenote, Chedraui (store), Akumal, Gas stations, and a golf course. We told Pio our vacation was to just come relax and enjoy the sun and beach, and he let us do, but let me add that Pio offers deep sea fishing, snorkeling, and will help you with anything you want to do. As you follow the directions to Casa Palapa and you stop at Chedraui to stock up, just know that this store will take American money and have the best exchange rates (12.98 P : 1 USD). I am recommending this Casa Palapa to my family and friends. I would give this 4.5 stars but don’t have the option to, so I gave it a 4. I do this because of not being able to turn the lights off on the outside at night."

  • Paradise perfected

"My husband and I just returned from a week long stay in Cantamar 101 and loved it. The condo was well equipped, beds were very comfortable and all was well maintained and clean. The condo is perfectly situated on the ground floor allowing walkout to the patio and pool, and just a few steps from the ocean. The photo in this listing is from the patio and looks like the sunsets we enjoyed every evening. It is also walking distance to town but on the quiet end away from cruise ships. This is our second stay at Cantamar and 1st time in 101. We would definitely stay here again."

  • A very relaxing stay.

"We had an awesome stay in Xcalak. It is much more remote than several of the other places we stayed. The beach is virtually your own beach! The unit is not fancy but was VERY clean and spacious for just the wife and I. The pans were in better shape than any of the other places we stayed. We REALLY appreciated that as we cooked most of our own meals. The water here is some of the prettiest we saw and the snorkeling was superb. Roberta was very communicative with us from the get go."

Quintana Roo Travel Tips

Quintana Roo has Perfect Beaches and Much More

The Mexican state of Quintana Roo is on the eastern part of Yucatán Peninsula. It is home to some of the best vacation areas in the country. Some visitors come seeking activity all day and dancing all night; others come for the tranquility of large beaches and warm seas. While the capital city of Quintana Roo is Chetumal, the state also includes Cancún, the islands of Cozumel, Isla Mujheres, and towns such as Bacalar, Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Playa del Carmen. Other places to visit are Puerto Juárez, Akumal, and Puerto Morelos. Remnants of the ancient Mayan civilization abound here, such as at Chaccbhoben, Coba, Kohunlich, Muyil, Tulum, Xel-Há, and Xcaret. And that is just a few! This is a large area, great for mixing relaxing on the beach with some water sports thrown in and day trips in an array of beautiful towns and ancient ruins.

Being geared to tourism, Quintana Roo is easy to explore and most people coming here take advantage of the many options to get around the area. Most choose to arrive via Cancún International Airport and many take a rental car option for maximum freedom to explore. Many choose Quintana Roo Mexico vacation rentals for the same reasons.

Beaches, Water Sports and Theme Parks Galore

Cancún, known as the Mexican Caribbean, sits on the Yucatán Channel and is a world-famous tourist location. Visitors here will enjoy some of the best beaches in the world with an exceptional amount of water sports, such as diving, swimming with dolphins and deep sea fishing. A short ferry ride takes visitors to the beautiful Isla Mujeres and one of the many attractions here is the incredible seafood! The island is a favorite for those who enjoy snorkeling and scuba diving on the many coral reefs. Another major attraction here is the facility for the rescue and breeding of sea turtles. Cancún has great shopping and a variety of theme parks, such as Xplor, Xcaret Eco Park and Xel-Ha.

For those who find the lure of exploration, the Riviera Maya will be a great experience. People come here for the archaeological sites, such as Coba and Tulum.

The town of Bacalar sits on a lagoon of the same name. This beautiful town dates from the 16th century and has a fascinating history of piracy. The 17th-century Fortress de San Felipe Bacalar is now a wonderful tourist attraction.

Those seeking quieter Quintana Roo Mexico resorts have many options to choose from. Puerto Morelos, with its mangrove swamp, or Akumal, meaning "place of the turtles" would make great options. There are many smaller resorts that are less crowded but with equally wonderful beaches and shopping. They are also within close proximity to larger towns for more lively activities.

Archaeological Sites to See

No visit to Quintana Roo Mexico condos is complete without exploring some of the incredible ancient sites in this region. Visitors will enjoy heading into the jungle to visit these sites. Bonampak is famous for its graphic murals of human sacrifice! Kohunlich, Dzibanche and Oxtankah are famous for the lush jungle, exotic birds and wildlife. Bring your bathing suit to Tulum, the "Walled City" where the beach is next to the site. Visitors can view the Fresco remnants before heading for a swim. Accessible by river via long boats is Yaxchilan. Deep in the Chiapas jungle, this site includes several Mayan ruins and is well worth a visit.

Make Your Vacation Perfect with the Perfect Accommodation

Visitors to Quintana Roo Mexico vacation rentals will find a huge variety of accommodation options available. Whether it is a spacious home in the heart of the city or a condo close to a quiet beach, you will find the perfect option. Rather than being bound to a room, these homes offer the space to relax and enjoy a welcoming environment. Homes are equipped with everything required to make a perfect vacation even better.
