  • Amazing Vacation!

"We just returned from an amazing week at this beautiful home! My husband and I traveled with another couple we're all in our 30s for reference and traveled March 2015. The communication prior to travel with the owner and Monica was fantastic prior to travel. The home is absolutely beautiful, very clean with the most amazing outdoor space and view! I really want to take the time to include some tips which I didn't find in most reviews. Make sure to have Monica book golf cart, and travel from airport as she get's you a great deal and does a great job. Once you get there you will pay the golf cart and the travel company directly. Also, when speaking with golf cart company let them know day and time you want them to pick up the cart, we made that mistake and they came a day early so be very specific with them. Bring a lot of Cash-many places do not take credit cards and if they do most only take Visa or MC NOT AMEX so if you plan on using your amex don't! You can use mostly US dollars but bring some pesos as well. The internet is spotty at best and pretty much non existent for our trip, all of us have little children so we were hoping to face time which was impossible this trip. They do have a landline you can use for free calls to the US which was nice but do not plan on using internet. I noticed it worked at other resorts so it may have not been working and we did not call to get it fixed which we could've done just don't really plan on the internet. We preordered groceries which was not necessary there is a large grocery store in the middle of the island which is easy to shop and cheap so there really isn't a need to pre order groceries, but was a nice service if you want it. They came to clean everyday which is a nice touch for a home rental! The pool is small but we felt it was adequate and used it quite a bit. There are 3 bedrooms the master is HUGE with a large king bed, the other two were adequate with full/queens so if going with couples know that going in. There are a lot of beaches on the south side which are free or cheap, one for 60 pescos which is great for snorkeling and swimming, and two beach clubs (can't remember the name, are in welcome pack) which are free (just order a drink) and gorgeous. The outdoor space is plentiful and amazing!!! The kitchen was nice and adequate but stove could be intermittent but overall nice. Over all this is a fabulous home with a view that is impossible to beat, I would go again and again!"

  • Villa Solymar is a gem!

"We just returned from an amazing trip to Akumal and our stay at Villa Solymar. I can not say enough great things about this home. The setting and pool are just pristine. The house itself-furnishings, interiors and kitchen-are so comfortable and very well stocked. The people who are working at the home during your stay are so warm and helpful. In particular the meal that Maria cooked us one night was one of the best we enjoyed the entire trip. Akumal is a fabulous destination. Much to do and see there and close by. One thing that makes it so accessible is the golf cart that comes with the rental. That was just so nice and convenient. We loved being able to drive down to dinner, ice cream etc. Everyone-from Kelly who helped with the reservation to Mara and Luis at the house to Monica who answered questions for us-all were top notch and staying at Solymar was really the highlight of the entire experience. Loved this house!!!"

  • Perfect!

"Our family of 8 stayed at Casa Palmeras for 9 wonderful nights recently, and I'd most definitely head there again the first chance I get. Other places might also be on the beach….or have several bedrooms…but whoever built Casa Palmeras got all the details just right. The bedrooms (all up some stairs) are very spacious and sufficiently separated that none of us heard the others. The furnishings are solidly built, large and comfy, which isn't always true in beach houses in my experience. One of the best things was that our family could all comfortably sit around in the evenings in the large living area and play charades or whatever. Very inviting and lovely space. Also there's a beachside patio getaway for everyone seeking a hammock or a private space, the garden is so spacious and the palms so plentiful. The kitchen is perfectly equipped and we enjoyed being able to have two meals a day at home. As for the beach, the sand beach is well equipped with comfy lounges for all plus two palapas for shade. The first few days we were there the sea weed (or whatever it's called) was plentiful where the beach meets the water, but by the third day it washed away again I guess, and we didn't see it again. Reef shoes are a necessity, however, as walking out into the deeper water or out to the reef for snorkeling will take you thru some weeds and over a few rocks. It didn't bother us. We just wore the shoes, walked out carefully, and then started swimming or snorkeling. The kayaks were a fun bonus and we made good use of them every day. Thank you, Homeowner, for sharing your beautiful home with us---obviously a well-loved home. We had a great time and we'll be back!"

Quintana Roo Travel Tips

Quintana Roo has Perfect Beaches and Much More

The Mexican state of Quintana Roo is on the eastern part of Yucatán Peninsula. It is home to some of the best vacation areas in the country. Some visitors come seeking activity all day and dancing all night; others come for the tranquility of large beaches and warm seas. While the capital city of Quintana Roo is Chetumal, the state also includes Cancún, the islands of Cozumel, Isla Mujheres, and towns such as Bacalar, Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Playa del Carmen. Other places to visit are Puerto Juárez, Akumal, and Puerto Morelos. Remnants of the ancient Mayan civilization abound here, such as at Chaccbhoben, Coba, Kohunlich, Muyil, Tulum, Xel-Há, and Xcaret. And that is just a few! This is a large area, great for mixing relaxing on the beach with some water sports thrown in and day trips in an array of beautiful towns and ancient ruins.

Being geared to tourism, Quintana Roo is easy to explore and most people coming here take advantage of the many options to get around the area. Most choose to arrive via Cancún International Airport and many take a rental car option for maximum freedom to explore. Many choose Quintana Roo Mexico vacation rentals for the same reasons.

Beaches, Water Sports and Theme Parks Galore

Cancún, known as the Mexican Caribbean, sits on the Yucatán Channel and is a world-famous tourist location. Visitors here will enjoy some of the best beaches in the world with an exceptional amount of water sports, such as diving, swimming with dolphins and deep sea fishing. A short ferry ride takes visitors to the beautiful Isla Mujeres and one of the many attractions here is the incredible seafood! The island is a favorite for those who enjoy snorkeling and scuba diving on the many coral reefs. Another major attraction here is the facility for the rescue and breeding of sea turtles. Cancún has great shopping and a variety of theme parks, such as Xplor, Xcaret Eco Park and Xel-Ha.

For those who find the lure of exploration, the Riviera Maya will be a great experience. People come here for the archaeological sites, such as Coba and Tulum.

The town of Bacalar sits on a lagoon of the same name. This beautiful town dates from the 16th century and has a fascinating history of piracy. The 17th-century Fortress de San Felipe Bacalar is now a wonderful tourist attraction.

Those seeking quieter Quintana Roo Mexico resorts have many options to choose from. Puerto Morelos, with its mangrove swamp, or Akumal, meaning "place of the turtles" would make great options. There are many smaller resorts that are less crowded but with equally wonderful beaches and shopping. They are also within close proximity to larger towns for more lively activities.

Archaeological Sites to See

No visit to Quintana Roo Mexico condos is complete without exploring some of the incredible ancient sites in this region. Visitors will enjoy heading into the jungle to visit these sites. Bonampak is famous for its graphic murals of human sacrifice! Kohunlich, Dzibanche and Oxtankah are famous for the lush jungle, exotic birds and wildlife. Bring your bathing suit to Tulum, the "Walled City" where the beach is next to the site. Visitors can view the Fresco remnants before heading for a swim. Accessible by river via long boats is Yaxchilan. Deep in the Chiapas jungle, this site includes several Mayan ruins and is well worth a visit.

Make Your Vacation Perfect with the Perfect Accommodation

Visitors to Quintana Roo Mexico vacation rentals will find a huge variety of accommodation options available. Whether it is a spacious home in the heart of the city or a condo close to a quiet beach, you will find the perfect option. Rather than being bound to a room, these homes offer the space to relax and enjoy a welcoming environment. Homes are equipped with everything required to make a perfect vacation even better.
