"An unpretentious facade opens into the most beautiful house. Every bit as lovely as the photos, the kitchen is a cooks delight, the bedrooms lovely with comfortable beds and great sheets. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Merida is wonderful as are the people and restaurants. We had no trouble parking in front, so we could drive to wonderful Hacienda Yaxcopoil and to the spectacular ruin Uxmal."

"We enjoyed our stay at Casa la Barenda, good location, air conditioning that worked and everything thing we needed to relax and enjoy. We visited in late July early August and it was hot outside, but we kept it nice and comfortable inside. There were some good maps at the Casa that made it easy for us to get to what we wanted to see. Uxmal and the ruins of the Ruta Puuc are amazing. We visited several nearby museums that were free and air conditioned as well as a day to to the beaches near Progreso . There are good restaurants nearby that can be easily walked to. Only negative was no hot water for the shower and several lights needed to be replace so it was a little dark. Would definitely recommend to friends and would look to return if we get the chance to visit Merida again, we would plan for November to April. The plunge pool was a refreshing relief after walking around town in the heat. The roof deck was another added bonus. The private outdoor space with grill table and ceiling fan was another added plus"

A Tranquil Beach House,,,Una Casa de Playa Tranquilo
"If you are wanting relaxation, calm, and losing yourself on a quiet beach, this is the place to go. San Benito is off the grid, no clubs, mega resorts, or overcrowded clubs.I walked two hours in the morning and saw 5 people, it was wonderful. The house is designed to feel open and the ambience is what you want at the beach .The house is perfect for reading, laying in a hammock, and just listening to sounds of the beach. I really loved the floating bed it was the perfect place for an afternoon siesta. Barbara was very helpful in arranging for people to clean, cook, and they are close by. This is a comfortable house for a small group, and it provides the basic things for a restful vacation. Progresso is close by if you want to venture into town for dinner, or shopping.Local find: Margarita's 11km from the house, good food and wonderful beach restaurant. Ask Wilma, the next door neighbor when they come by for fresh fish to buy, right outside your door! I have been traveling to Mexico for over 35 years and this place is one of my favorites, Thanks again Barbara for sharing your home, espero contar con su presencia un dia, hasta entonces bien,, Esteban"

"The villa was just like pictured on VRBO no surprises. The Wi-Fi was excellent. There is no central air but we didn't need it. The house was designed with air flow in mind and it was great. The Gonzalo and Olivia the caretakers were always on hand to help with whatever was needed.
The owner Ana Patricia was amazing!! She went above and beyond for us, a little mishap with arrival times. She picked us up and took us shopping before going to the villa what a plus. she speaks excellent English and was so informative. The bottle of wine was such a nice added touch when we arrived.
About Chicxulub. It is a small fishing village and when you read on trip advisor and else where that little English is spoken in the area they are not kidding. But we knew just enough to get by. The locals were so nice and always tried their best to help us. There was not a lot going on in the evenings. No bars or restaurant were open in the evenings and very few during the day. But it was a short ride to Progresso for those evening outings. If you are just wanting a very quiet, relaxing vacation this place is for you. We had a great time and would recommend to friends.
Thanks Ana Patricia for sharing your home with us."
