  • Ideal Location

"Casa de los Mosaicos is as lovely as the photos illustrate. We were comfortable in the house as soon as we entered the door. The local house manager was waiting for us after our late night arrival from Houston. She showed us around and explained the features of the home, provided a cell phone to use locally and provided general information about the area. She had previously asked if we wanted her to pick up something for the fridge for our breakfast the next day … very thoughtful. The lovely kitchen is well equipped with dishes, utensils, pots/pans, etc. The living room was cozy with a flat screen TV & DVD … the master bedroom was roomy, the bed comfortable … the Wi-Fi worked very well … and a nice selection of books was available. Every room had an A/C unit. The plunge pool was definitely a plus as we needed to cool down a few times a day. An attached garage is available if you rent a car. The property was very well maintained and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The house is in an ideal location … almost equidistant from Santiago Park, Santa Lucia Park and the Central Plaza! Conveniently located in Santiago Park is a Mercado with wonderful fresh vegetables and fruits, a small Aki supermarket for other essentials, and dancing on Thursday nights. We walked everywhere and could easily take buses to the beach or slightly more out of the way sites. We felt very safe all the time we were there. It's a quick walk to the Plaza and to shops and restaurants. One-half block down the street is a terrific Italian restaurant Dadaumpa Ristobar and across the street is a vegetarian restaurant Lo Que Hay Café. Everything went smoothly from the day we booked the Casa. Jane is an absolute delight with whom to correspond with fast replies to our emails and very quick return of our deposit. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously during our 10 days at the Casa. If you stay here, you will not be disappointed. We highly recommend it."

  • Outstanding.....

"First off this is the first time I have bothered to review a holiday accomodation and secondly I am not entirely sure I want to share this gem with anyone else. But in the spirit in which we were received by the most gracious hosts of Casa Sisal I feel duty bound to take the time to give credit where it is due. The property itself is of course stunning. Look at the pictures. It does not disappoint in the flesh and nor is it photographed omitting noisy neighbours or ugly views. Secluded, subtle and an oasis of peaceful calm. Most previous reviews mention the fireflies on the lawn of an evening. I now understand why. Impossible to put into words or indeed film or photograph. What most don't mention is the incredible calm of early morning there. Very special. Good architectural fore thought meant my family of five 'lived' easily in this space. The space works very well. Location wise very convenient for Merida and the week barely gave us time to scratch the surface of all the sites within day trip distance. The Hacienda itself is of course stunning and a great contrast to the clean lines of Casa Sisal. Utterly genuine honest hosts who are as enthused by the houses as we were. A rare find and a true 'keeper'."

  • Palatial!

"Expansive, gorgeous updated casa located within walking distance to just about everything the city has to offer. Restaurants, museums, tours, you name it, it can be accomplished steps away from the door. This four bedroom casa actually has four master suites, two in the main house and two in the casita. Perfect for privacy and/or just getting away for a while from your family/travel mates. The plunge pool was the perfect size for cooling off throughout the day, and the depth was perfect for everyone (not too shallow/not too deep). Used the AC two nights out of seven, and only when there was no breeze. Perfectly equipped kitchen and plenty of linens and towels for everyone. The washer/dryer was a nice touch as well.... Do not count on GPS to get there initially, as the city has many similarly marked streets (we found 4 calle 66's!!) Get directions directly from the owners, and use them.....! Assertive driving is a must in this city, but once you get the hang of it, it is easy AND fun! The carriage rides are wonderful, but not every carriage driver treats his horse well. Find one who will introduce you to their horse, and bring a carrot for them too!! A little Spanish goes a long way, but we found that waiters would bring us English menus without asking. Prices are VERY inexpensive in Merida, make sure to tip waiters, baggers, drivers, etc. The owners and management were prompt with information and e-mails, and we lacked for nothing while we were there."

  • Paradise in the City!

"We went to Merida to see the sights of the Yucatan- the cenotes, pyramids, haciendas... However, we loved the peace and tranquility of Villa Caribe so much we left only to buy groceries and cerveza. It was perfect! Anna is very prompt with communications as well as her property manager, Rosalinda. Villa Caribe exceeded our expectations. Stay at Villa Caribe when you visit Merida!"

Merida Travel Tips

Travel to the Familiar With Merida Vacation Rentals""

You don't always need the exotic. You don't always wish for the strange. Sometimes such things can be more exhausting than amusing, forcing you to trek into the wild, the unknown. And that's not the kind of holiday you want this year. You're longing to relax, to have all the attractions centered right where you are; allowing you the chance to worry less over distance and more over where you're actually going. And that's why Merida vacation rentals become the ultimate retreats.

""Discover the Beauty of Proximity With Merida Resorts'

You don't like the notion of having to drive everywhere. It's an expense, and a frustration, you just don't need. But it's an unfortunate truth that most destinations require you to travel mile after mile to find your goals. You won't find that in Merida. The White City (the name derives from the excess of limestone and paint, making it a sparkling escape) offers a multitude of shops, museums, galleries, and more, all within walking distance. You can find what you need without having to waste time in your car. Take a carriage ride through the Plaza Principal. Visit the unexpected French flavors of the Paseo de Montejo Boulevard, complete with elegant homes and old world charm. Or even wander through the local park festivals, enjoying artisans and their wares. It's a not to miss experience.

Yucatan Condos Offer Relief"

Of course, the luxury of walking is a mass appeal. Merida is visited by many each year, forcing you to share the streets. You can ease the burden, though, by renting a home for your trip. It's a practical way to complete your practical vacation. You already have everything in reach. Why ruin it by spending your evenings in a hotel? Who says holidays have to be difficult?
