  • Amazing Place

"My family stayed for 3 nights at Sac Chich in March, and had a wonderful time. My wife and 4 kids (13,11,9,6) spent a lot of time at the pool, and the owners' dog Eva came over and played one afternoon (which was a huge hit with the kids). The grounds were beautiful, the building was unlike anywhere we stayed before, and it was almost more beautiful at night than during the day. The owners were staying at Casa Sisal next door, and we walked up one morning to check that out as well (very modern, very sleek, a great vacation rental as well). We'd stayed in Merida for a few days before this, so to have all of this open space was a real treat for the kids. We had the staff make breakfasts and dinners for us, and the food was REALLY good, and the "girls" (as Cyndy called them) were very friendly and helpful (it was fun testing our Spanish with them). All in all, we had a great stay, and were very sad leaving our hacienda."

  • KATHLEEN WHITE'S GUEST HOUSE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR THE SINGLE TRAVELER AS WELL AS COUPLES

"I stayed at the El Avenue Blanca for one month. April 14 to May 14, 2015. I was there for extensive dental work and was traveling alone. Being a 65 year old woman, it was difficult to stay in a hotel by myself. I would highly recommend this guest house, especially, for people traveling alone. Those who do not speak Spanish and do not know the city. Kathleen and her family are very nice people. She was informative on places to visit and ways to spend the time I was not seeing the dentist. Also, she was able to call taxis for me - something I could not do myself since I do not speak Spanish. Her inn is a reasonable place to spend time, and within reasonable walking distance to certain locations. If you stay with her for 1 month, you have your own bedroom and bathroom. You also have use of the kitchen, pool, CD library, garden areas and patios. It was nice to have other people around me to talk to and share my adventures. Again, I recommend her guest house for anyone traveling to Merida, Mexico for the first time."

  • Wonderful place!

"We stayed two weeks in this wonderful house. The owners were so easy to work with, helpful and accommodating. I have rented often through VRBO and have never been so fully prepared before an arrival, an info booklet even came by email! We had several locals who visited our house and they were amazed with it's appearance. The location is great, within walking distance of several squares and main plaza. A grocery store and Mercado very close. Thank god for the A/C as we gringos really needed it! Nicely stocked kitchen and even an "essentials kit" if you forgot something. Another couple was traveling with us and they stayed upstairs in what we called the "love nest". Great communication with Lucia, once we arrived in Merida. Some minor A/C problems which were taken care of within hours. Yes, I would stay there again."

  • A lovely colonial casa

"We loved our stay at Casa La Barenda; a beautiful home in a fascinating city. Although it was unseasonably warm while we were there (95deg.+) the casa was a cool and quiet retreat from our very active days. There is much to do in the area, from museums and art galleries to visiting Mayan ruins, henneken haciendas and a variety of beaches. One of the best features is a very competent and responsive local management team that will help you through any questions that may arise. When our mini-split conked out the first night, they arranged repair the following day, and even threw in a gift certificate to the best restaurant in town! When we absolutely had to make an early bus, they arranged a reliable cab for us. The house is perfectly comfortable and charming. We enjoyed the dipping pool during late afternoons and catching the cool evening breezes and watching the sun set on the roof deck. The information packet provided is the best we have encountered, and we've rented quite a few houses! We highly recommend Casa La Barenda for its comfort, great location and interesting neighborhood. Plus the fine quality of local restaurants!"
