  • Great Villa in Great Location

"The villa was just like pictured on VRBO no surprises. The Wi-Fi was excellent. There is no central air but we didn't need it. The house was designed with air flow in mind and it was great. The Gonzalo and Olivia the caretakers were always on hand to help with whatever was needed. The owner Ana Patricia was amazing!! She went above and beyond for us, a little mishap with arrival times. She picked us up and took us shopping before going to the villa what a plus. she speaks excellent English and was so informative. The bottle of wine was such a nice added touch when we arrived. About Chicxulub. It is a small fishing village and when you read on trip advisor and else where that little English is spoken in the area they are not kidding. But we knew just enough to get by. The locals were so nice and always tried their best to help us. There was not a lot going on in the evenings. No bars or restaurant were open in the evenings and very few during the day. But it was a short ride to Progresso for those evening outings. If you are just wanting a very quiet, relaxing vacation this place is for you. We had a great time and would recommend to friends. Thanks Ana Patricia for sharing your home with us."

  • Great View

"Stayed here for a week in February and had a good time. With just two adults who have been here done that and were looking to get away from the city this was a nice place to go. The view here is great when you come from a prairie city waking up in the morning looking at the ocean in the morning. So the good, the bad and the ugly. The Good: The house is nice, clean around the house and inside. Having the SUV for a day was all that we needed, we went in on Sunday to Progreso and did our shopping for the week other then that we didn't really have a need for it. We use the collectivo which cost 11 pesos per person for the $4 it was worth it. Beds were great, water flows were good, tons of towels, the washing machine was nice also. The pool was nice, I thought it was a big pool and didn't heat up very well. Tons of little stores... so strange it was like everyone owned a store selling some sort of coke product. Places to eat, we only went out twice there but it was enough. TV was nice though we only watched movies at night when the day was done. Internet was nice to check out the world. Veronica was always there for a hand with concerns and extremely helpful. The Bad: The cook ware, frying pans were beat up, cutting boards are really dirty and worn out, a can opener that would have any restaurant closed down, and rusty squires. In the world we live in now they are not expensive and should be changed. No cell phone was given to us and we never asked as we thought this was stopped. The beaches are not like they are in the pictures, yes times change but walking on the beach was not like you would do anywhere else, sticks out of the water made you worried about getting something in the foot. As with the last review the bars and locks on the windows and doors were a pain and we didn't know other wise but to make sure we always locked up day and night. We didn't ask the owner though if it was needed at night. No window on the master bedroom door, this would have been nice to have left it open for a breeze to come through the room at night. The Ugly: Beaten down places everywhere, we would go for a walk and to see the area made you a bit depressed at times. Gang tags on the walls around town and in the pool (SUB13 or SUD13) this is the main reason we didn't like the place unlocked. Progreso, not impressed at all, over priced food and drinks, the bus tour told us more about the places to eat and drink then history of the area."

  • Fabulous home and experience!

"My husband and I just returned from a wonderful week in this lovely home. The size and layout were perfect, the kitchen complete, the lanai amazing and the pool SO refreshing. Everything was spotless. The neighborhood was quiet with a cute little grocery store a couple of blocks away (turn left leaving the house, first left, then first right and down a half block) where we got toasted sandwiches for breakfast. Restaurants Chaya Maya (Yucatecan) and Dadaumpa (Italian) were great. Highly recommend, would stay here again in a heartbeat."

  • Sincere Thanks for a Perfect Stay!

"Just a quick note to offer my most sincere thanks to Mary and Neil! Mary, your home is impeccable in every capacity! From location (on a lovely quiet street just 2 ½ blocks from the gorgeous Paseo, near restaurants, cafes, shopping and a number of plazas with their music and dancing and churches and museums) to décor (elegant and clean, with enviable fixtures, comfortable amenities and a clean flow from front to back) to the easy livability of the property (a fabulous home that feels like home), we were enchanted with every detail! The back patio was a lovely relaxing retreat where wine flowed and al fresco dining was in order after a long day, walking gorgeous Merida and discovering the many fabulous attractions. The well appointed kitchen is the hub of this lovely house, where meals were prepared using market goods from the many markets within walking distance. Thank you for offering this wonderful home! And Neil, thank you for your time and service! We appreciated the many tips and the offers of assistance. Thankfully, no assistance was necessary due to the perfection of the house, neighborhood and city. But it was nice to know you were there in the case that we needed you. And indeed, opening up the house and allowing that gorgeous cross-breeze to ventilate meant we didn’t even need to use the fans very often, let alone the AC. Thank you both! Our stay in Merida was simply perfect!"
