  • Absolutely fantastic! A jewel!

"I spent a lot of time searching for the perfect house on Vrbo before I came here, it is so worth it! The moment I step into the house, it turn back the clock. It is an old colonial house with all the charms of old world Mexico, but all the amenities of the modern world. Hot water on demand, air conditioning in every room! Not to be fooled by the one bedroom house, it is extremely large. With an atrium in the middle of the house, and a fountain, it cools the house by a few degrees. I almost never use the a/c during the day, but the luxury when I want it. No stairs to climb either, everything is on one floor! The location is fantastic, just one block away parallel to the famous tree lined Paseo Montejo, there is no call for cab ride. A few blocks I am at Walmart and a few blocks south I am in the historical centro, with many fresh fruits and local foods, extremely inexpensive. The night scene in the centro is bustling with food stalls and free music, I spent a lot of time hopping from one plaza to another!! An easy bus ride, I am in Progresso and on the beach!! It was a dream vacation. Thanks to Mary the owner of the house and Neil, the property manager for assisting me and showed me all the ropes of getting to the best places. Maria"

  • Yucatan retreat

"This is a spot I would recommend for different reasons: 1st the location makes it easy to visit Yucatan with a quick access to the highway - 2nd the house is simply gorgeous and fully equipped 3rd last but not least ... there is a nice care of the guests from the owners with special attentions such as banana bred which I enjoyed particularly. ( frenchies leaving in Mexico)"

  • Casa La Barenda was our perfect Merida home away from home!

"My husband and I rented Casa La Barenda for two months and loved it! It is beautifully restored with many nice, artistic details that make it very comfortable for a short or long stay. We were so grateful to have the plunge pool and used it every day! The outdoor and indoor fountains were an extra-nice touch. The kitchen had everything we needed, but there are so many nice restaurants within walking distance that we did not need to do any major cooking. You can't beat the location. Situated in Colonia Santiago -only a few blocks from Merida's zocalo (square) - it only took us a few minutes to walk to many of the fine museums, theaters and restaurants in the Centro. If you need to catch a bus or taxi, both are very easy to find from the house. For a bottle of wine or some cold cerveza, there's a nice little store right across the street. For your daily produce needs, the neighborhood market is only two blocks away where you can pick-up fresh mango, papaya, plantains and other tropical goodies. A good grocery store for basic necessities is right across the street from Parque Santiago. If you're lucky, a local baker will be selling his pan dulces in front of the Super Aki grocery store. "Canela, Maiz and Cilantro" was my favorite place to go for lunch and it's only 2 1/2 blocks from the house. We were so busy exploring, that we weren't around much to watch television, but a nice T.V. with cable and DVD player are set-up in the beautiful, spacious living room. Wi-fi made it easy to work and stay in touch with friends and family back home. The owner and his property manager were wonderful to work with. They were attentive to our questions and needs. We can't say enough nice things about Casa La Barenda and the beautiful city of Merida, Yucatan! Enjoy your stay!"

Progreso Travel Tips

Fair Weather and Fairer Days: Progreso Vacation Rentals

Just beyond the capital of Merida, cradled between emerald waters and golden sands, is the city of Progreso. It is a haven for the weary, offering quiet streets and local charm. Its centralized location makes it perfect for those seeking diversity (with many offerings of popular beaches and shops). Its innate atmosphere makes it perfect for those who simply need to relax. It stands as the answer for any who want peace. And with Progreso vacation rentals that peace is sure to last.

Surround Yourself With the sea With Progreso Resorts

It's the cliché you've always wanted: a hammock swung between two palms, the waves lazily stirring, a secluded day with only the sun for company. You think that exists only in a fantasy. Well think again. Progreso is the definition of easy breezes. Your time will be spent admiring the spectacular scenery, the picturesque town. Stroll through the shops and revel in the lack of hustling crowds. And then, if you hunger for a faster pace, you can simply drive to the neighboring areas, like Merida and its many attractions, or Chelem with its wild coast. You can have it all.

Find True Luxury With Yucatan Condos

Progreso allows you the freedom to be truly lazy, to tempt yourself away from the perils of work. But laziness doesn't have to be kept to a hotel, where all that lounging will seem monotonous in one room. Treat yourself to a more efficient, more stylish, alternative: rental homes. Think of them as investments toward your good intentions. You want the best vacation, after all. That's not going to happen if you're stuck in a hotel. Progreso is for the family who needs a break from their obligations. Why leave one hectic schedule for another? Why not instead just relax?
