"Very comfortable house; pool and AC in bedrooms are key; great location in walking distance to main plaza and Montejo. Easy to find street parking for rental car. Helpful and responsive owner/assistant."

  • Casa La Barenda was our perfect Merida home away from home!

"My husband and I rented Casa La Barenda for two months and loved it! It is beautifully restored with many nice, artistic details that make it very comfortable for a short or long stay. We were so grateful to have the plunge pool and used it every day! The outdoor and indoor fountains were an extra-nice touch. The kitchen had everything we needed, but there are so many nice restaurants within walking distance that we did not need to do any major cooking. You can't beat the location. Situated in Colonia Santiago -only a few blocks from Merida's zocalo (square) - it only took us a few minutes to walk to many of the fine museums, theaters and restaurants in the Centro. If you need to catch a bus or taxi, both are very easy to find from the house. For a bottle of wine or some cold cerveza, there's a nice little store right across the street. For your daily produce needs, the neighborhood market is only two blocks away where you can pick-up fresh mango, papaya, plantains and other tropical goodies. A good grocery store for basic necessities is right across the street from Parque Santiago. If you're lucky, a local baker will be selling his pan dulces in front of the Super Aki grocery store. "Canela, Maiz and Cilantro" was my favorite place to go for lunch and it's only 2 1/2 blocks from the house. We were so busy exploring, that we weren't around much to watch television, but a nice T.V. with cable and DVD player are set-up in the beautiful, spacious living room. Wi-fi made it easy to work and stay in touch with friends and family back home. The owner and his property manager were wonderful to work with. They were attentive to our questions and needs. We can't say enough nice things about Casa La Barenda and the beautiful city of Merida, Yucatan! Enjoy your stay!"

  • Fantastic Casa

"We have just returned from two months spent at the casa and can't say enough about it! Everything you could possibly need is provided and the beach location is perfect - peaceful and quiet yet close to town. Chuburna, Chelem and Progreso are minutes away by car or you can take the combi (small vans that run between towns). Merida is about 30 minutes from Progreso by bus. We tried several of the local restaurants and enjoyed the local festivals. Joan, the concierge, was extremely helpful - she even kept us updated on local events. We highly recommend this spot for anyone seeking a peaceful beachfront location in close proximity to local towns and attractions. We wouldn't hestitate to return again."
