  • Everything You Need

"Casa Kaana has everything one needs for a relaxing, carefree holiday in Mexico. Large rooms and nice and airy. The focus of our stay was the outdoor area by the pool. As mentioned by others the pool area is private, easily accessible, clean and relaxing to loll around. BBQ was great. The location of the house, one row from the beach, is a very short distance to walk. The property manager, Joan, was excellent. Extremely helpful in not only the workings of the house but in informing us to happenings in the area. Wifi and use of the house cellphone were a bonus. This was our fourth stay in this area of Mexico and Casa Kaana was easily the best home we have stayed in.......everything was as advertised and all appliances worked."

  • Great little casita

"This pretty casita is located around 20 minutes walk from Chuburna Puerto, the nearest village. There you can buy groceries, beer, fish and some meat, but there is no big supermarket. The house has an excellent layout, with two bedrooms and a nice open living area where you can cook while chatting to others in the seating area. A large window has a great view of the Gulf of Mexico and the sea comes up to a few meters from the house. There are plenty of plastic chairs outside, two good sun loungers and a big outside picnic table, so we spent lots of time every day on the beach. The owner, Leticia, responded immediately to our request to the Property Manager (Carlos) to repair the corroded stove by buying and installing a new one, so we were impressed by the quality of service from her. There is a regular Combi - Collectivo - service from Chuburna Puerto into Chelem and Progreso, which are the next bigger villages to the East of Chuburna Puerto. Chelem has more restaurants and shops then Chuburna. Progreso is much bigger with two large supermarkets and is a tourist destination for large cruise boats from Galvaston and Alabama twice a week. We really enjoyed the peaceful, quiet nature of Chuburna Puerto. It is right at the end of the development line along this part of the coast. It easy to make friends here as the 'Gringos' are very friendly -- some rent and some live here permanently, and there are no big hotels for tourist types. We stayed in February and most of the houses are unoccupied, except for Mexican holidays when parties arrive from Merida and enjoy lots of music and swimming all around, usually for a couple of days."

  • Idyllic colonial house, in a fabulous central location in Old Merida!

"I expected Casa Las Mosaicos to be beautiful and I was not disappointed. The interior floors are covered with local pasta tiles and this, coupled with the very high traditional beamed ceilings, created a cool, airy and authentic Mexican feel. As we were staying for almost 3 weeks, I was delighted to find that all the appliances were spotlessly clean and new, the kitchen was well- stocked with attractive tableware, cooking pans and every utensil you would need to take advantage of the delicious local produce. The enormous American style fridge was much appreciated, not least for the ice cubes which cooled my ‘Margarita en las rocas’ cocktails, sipped on balmy evenings in the colourful patio courtyard. After long days sightseeing it was fabulous to be able to sit in the courtyard and take a cooling plunge in the pool before making it onto a sun lounger for a rest! The bathrooms were both finished to a high standard and hot water was always available. The rooms were cool at night using a fan, but there were efficient air conditioners if needed. I loved the location as you could easily walk to a range of local Mexican restaurants, cafes , ice cream parlours and many traditional colonial squares where the locals dance and gather with their families to enjoy the cool evenings. On a more practical note, the garage and off- street parking was a real advantage as we were able to make many daytrips to the surrounding attractions; cenotes, Mayan ruins, beaches and the bird reserves at Celestun. The comprehensive visitors’ file gave all the necessary information for a successful and stress-free time based at the house. The maid service was excellent (weekly) and the pool was also checked regularly. The owners were very helpful when we booked and I found the whole new experience of renting in Merida just perfect. I’m definitely returning next year as there is so much more to see! Terri and Paul (London, UK)"

  • A great stay, a wonderful location

"We spent 2 months at Montejo Beauty and loved it. Contrary to some previous reviews,we found the house well decorated, kitchen well equiped, plenty of good sheets, towels, funiture in good shape. The house is very nice with its original tiles floors, the stained glass panels. Most of all LOCATION: 1 block to Paseo Montejo, quiet street, no bus, walking distance to Centro, supermarkets. We are going back next year."
