  • A lovely colonial casa

"We loved our stay at Casa La Barenda; a beautiful home in a fascinating city. Although it was unseasonably warm while we were there (95deg.+) the casa was a cool and quiet retreat from our very active days. There is much to do in the area, from museums and art galleries to visiting Mayan ruins, henneken haciendas and a variety of beaches. One of the best features is a very competent and responsive local management team that will help you through any questions that may arise. When our mini-split conked out the first night, they arranged repair the following day, and even threw in a gift certificate to the best restaurant in town! When we absolutely had to make an early bus, they arranged a reliable cab for us. The house is perfectly comfortable and charming. We enjoyed the dipping pool during late afternoons and catching the cool evening breezes and watching the sun set on the roof deck. The information packet provided is the best we have encountered, and we've rented quite a few houses! We highly recommend Casa La Barenda for its comfort, great location and interesting neighborhood. Plus the fine quality of local restaurants!"

  • Wonderful house and area. Hated to leave!

"Stayed in this house fro 2 months and loved every minute. Great location! Terrific sandy beach for swimming. Pool on the beachside is a plus. Very open and spacious feel to the house. Always felt safe. Bugs were minimal, and we had the doors open to hear and see the surf all the time. Joan, the property manager, was extremely responsive and helpful. Would rent again and for longer next time!"

  • FABULOUS !

"An unpretentious facade opens into the most beautiful house. Every bit as lovely as the photos, the kitchen is a cooks delight, the bedrooms lovely with comfortable beds and great sheets. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Merida is wonderful as are the people and restaurants. We had no trouble parking in front, so we could drive to wonderful Hacienda Yaxcopoil and to the spectacular ruin Uxmal."

  • Where time slows.....

"For years we have visited the Carribean through the eyes of the All Inclusive Resorts. Tana Pepem, nestled in the village of El Cuyo, has changed the way we travel forever. We spent a week of absolute relaxation, on a never ending white sand beach, in this beautiful ocean front villa. The villa was spotless and is so well designed that the absence of air conditioning was not missed. The ocean breeze flows freely through the screened patio doors and windows on the upper and lower floors, so it was never uncomfortable, even on the 32 degree days. The housekeepers Sara and Gabrielle were very attentive to our requests and the village tour that Sara took us on the day after we arrived introduced us to the grocery shopping options and restarants. We bought all our food in Cancun as we were not sure what was available there but you can purchase fresh fish and chicken in the village as well as some produce. Sara arranged a boat ride for us and we enjoyed seeing the shore and town from the ocean side. There was an excellent snorkelling reef, a tour through the fishing harbour and we stopped to visit a beach covered with many varieties of shells. Sara also assisted us in arranging to have a traditional Mexican meal prepared right in the Villa. We enjoyed learning how to prepare some wonderful Mexican dishes when Gabby and Betty arrived. If you are looking for a vacation that takes you back in time, away from the crowds, hustle and bustle of everyday life, but need to feel comfortable and safe, you will not be disappointed."
