  • Beautifully restored home in the heart of Merida

"We loved this house (especially the hammocks) and would definitely stay here again. Unless the owners make changes, there are no English speaking tv channels, nor DVD'S in ENGLISH. Also, there is no system for playing those wonderful Latin cd's you might want to play. Be forwarned: you will be charged for electricity usage. The house was in a safe neighborhood, close to several plazas, although a bit farther from the main plaza, and we never did take advantage of the horse drawn carriages that came by the house regularly. The clopping of the horses' hooves was a constant reminder that we were in a special location. A great option for staying in Merida!!!!"

  • Outstanding.....

"First off this is the first time I have bothered to review a holiday accomodation and secondly I am not entirely sure I want to share this gem with anyone else. But in the spirit in which we were received by the most gracious hosts of Casa Sisal I feel duty bound to take the time to give credit where it is due. The property itself is of course stunning. Look at the pictures. It does not disappoint in the flesh and nor is it photographed omitting noisy neighbours or ugly views. Secluded, subtle and an oasis of peaceful calm. Most previous reviews mention the fireflies on the lawn of an evening. I now understand why. Impossible to put into words or indeed film or photograph. What most don't mention is the incredible calm of early morning there. Very special. Good architectural fore thought meant my family of five 'lived' easily in this space. The space works very well. Location wise very convenient for Merida and the week barely gave us time to scratch the surface of all the sites within day trip distance. The Hacienda itself is of course stunning and a great contrast to the clean lines of Casa Sisal. Utterly genuine honest hosts who are as enthused by the houses as we were. A rare find and a true 'keeper'."

  • It's all good!!

"This is my second stay in the Casa and I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Merida ever again. The location of the house is perfect - a few blocks away and you're in the heart of the historic district, yet when it's time to wind down, the house is so quiet. The house itself was designed so well - the kitchen has everything you could need, everything in the house works! The lighting and sound system is very cool, and there's a waterfall into the pool which is as soothing as life gets as you're sitting outside sipping a cocktail...I miss it already. As this house is connected with Luz en Yucatan, you have access to everything that the hotel guests have. Seeking advice about what to do, where to go, setting up a taxi pick-up or airport transportation, etc. The house is one block from the hotel - it's really a perfect situation with it's relationship to the hotel. Tom and Donard are the friendliest and most authentic hosts you could possibly imagine and they and their staff have created a culture that is very warm and "can do". If I could give 6 stars I would!!"

  • Casa Santa Ana

"This house was one of the best things about my trip to Merida.I came to have dental work done by one of the very competent dentists in the area (MUCH cheaper than in NY) as well as sightsee (I don't drive) and Casa Santa Ana was the perfect base, close to everything I wanted to do.For trips to the amazing ruins, I was able to join small guided tours, and the rest of the time I walked , took buses or taxis... The house itself is a dream..The front door opens to a really high-ceilinged room with beautiful tiled floors and a Nakashima dining table, and manages to retain a sophisticated Mexican feel while featuring the owner's eclectic, slightly bohemian furniture and art.Everything is done with taste and carefully curated, one has the impression of being a guest in a lovely home, not a "renter". I loved the coolness and quiet of the interior when coming in off the street, and of course, those dips in the pool under the blooming bouganvillea.I'll come back when I can."
