  • Wonderful house and area. Hated to leave!

"Stayed in this house fro 2 months and loved every minute. Great location! Terrific sandy beach for swimming. Pool on the beachside is a plus. Very open and spacious feel to the house. Always felt safe. Bugs were minimal, and we had the doors open to hear and see the surf all the time. Joan, the property manager, was extremely responsive and helpful. Would rent again and for longer next time!"

  • Great little casita

"This pretty casita is located around 20 minutes walk from Chuburna Puerto, the nearest village. There you can buy groceries, beer, fish and some meat, but there is no big supermarket. The house has an excellent layout, with two bedrooms and a nice open living area where you can cook while chatting to others in the seating area. A large window has a great view of the Gulf of Mexico and the sea comes up to a few meters from the house. There are plenty of plastic chairs outside, two good sun loungers and a big outside picnic table, so we spent lots of time every day on the beach. The owner, Leticia, responded immediately to our request to the Property Manager (Carlos) to repair the corroded stove by buying and installing a new one, so we were impressed by the quality of service from her. There is a regular Combi - Collectivo - service from Chuburna Puerto into Chelem and Progreso, which are the next bigger villages to the East of Chuburna Puerto. Chelem has more restaurants and shops then Chuburna. Progreso is much bigger with two large supermarkets and is a tourist destination for large cruise boats from Galvaston and Alabama twice a week. We really enjoyed the peaceful, quiet nature of Chuburna Puerto. It is right at the end of the development line along this part of the coast. It easy to make friends here as the 'Gringos' are very friendly -- some rent and some live here permanently, and there are no big hotels for tourist types. We stayed in February and most of the houses are unoccupied, except for Mexican holidays when parties arrive from Merida and enjoy lots of music and swimming all around, usually for a couple of days."

  • Fantastic location on beach.

"We had a fantastic week long vacation staying in this beautiful and private property. We are an adult couple with 3 grown children. Every morning started with coffee on the terrace, mesmerized by the gorgeous views of the pool and the ocean beyond. When we could pull ourselves away from this "activity", we had daily swims in the ocean & pool and walks along the beach. There is no tourist activity in this part of the world and the locals are very helpful & friendly, you really are immersed in the culture. We had day trips to Chelem, Progreso, Merida & Uxmal. In addition we swam in the Noc Ac and San Ignacio ceynotes. We had a fantastic trip and will return. Thanks for sharing!!"

  • Sincere Thanks for a Perfect Stay!

"Just a quick note to offer my most sincere thanks to Mary and Neil! Mary, your home is impeccable in every capacity! From location (on a lovely quiet street just 2 ½ blocks from the gorgeous Paseo, near restaurants, cafes, shopping and a number of plazas with their music and dancing and churches and museums) to décor (elegant and clean, with enviable fixtures, comfortable amenities and a clean flow from front to back) to the easy livability of the property (a fabulous home that feels like home), we were enchanted with every detail! The back patio was a lovely relaxing retreat where wine flowed and al fresco dining was in order after a long day, walking gorgeous Merida and discovering the many fabulous attractions. The well appointed kitchen is the hub of this lovely house, where meals were prepared using market goods from the many markets within walking distance. Thank you for offering this wonderful home! And Neil, thank you for your time and service! We appreciated the many tips and the offers of assistance. Thankfully, no assistance was necessary due to the perfection of the house, neighborhood and city. But it was nice to know you were there in the case that we needed you. And indeed, opening up the house and allowing that gorgeous cross-breeze to ventilate meant we didn’t even need to use the fans very often, let alone the AC. Thank you both! Our stay in Merida was simply perfect!"
