  • Wonderful Place!

"What a gem this condo was for our latest vacation. We stayed 8 nights in this comfortable and clean 2 bd/2bath condo. Everything you need to stay a few days or several weeks is there for your use from water sports equipment, kayaks, BBQ and of course the incredible ocean views-right outside your door. Close to everything there is to do in the Yucatan and Quintana Roo areas from snorkeling, swimming cents, fishing, archeological sites to all the attractions (5 min away). Memo and Marcy were wonderful and friendly hosts and concerned that everything was "just perfect" for us. The condo comes with a daily cleaning service of Suemi and Ismael that extends beyond a "regular service". Whatever you need they were there to help. Renting a car to get around is so much easier and economical than taxi's. Highly recommend the condo for your next stay. We had a wonderful and enjoyable stay…."

  • Perfect Location and Immaculate Condo

"We just returned from our stay at Susan and Dougs Condo. It was a perfect location for us located just off of 5th Ave and one block to beach. The condo will sleep 4-6 very comfortably. Since it was just my wife and I, we had plenty of room and each had our own bathroom. The outdoor patio was giant equipped with a grill. We didn't get a chance to utilize it but you can have a really nice time with a bbq out there. Each room had a AC unit in it and it was very comfortable. We took the ferry to Cozumel one day. It was about a 20 minute walk down 5th ave to get to ferry. We rented a Jeep and explored the island. Lots of beaches and a few little bars to visit. We also did the Eco Park where we saw crocodiles and tasted Tequila. At the end of the park there is a great beach with bar and snorkel rentals. Great spot to snorkel. Would recommend a Jeep if you do decide to go there. We also rented a car one day and took the 45 minute drive south to Tolume. Thanks again Susan and Doug!!!"

  • Home Away From Home

"I will begin my review by saying that our stay was perfect and we will be returning to the condo in the future! The unit is spacious, comfortable and well stocked – just as advertised. The beds and linens are very comfortable and the kitchen has plenty of supplies including extra spices, plastic containers, and foil. The staff (Veronica, Luis and security) is kind, helpful and responsive, and Patsy is very easy to work with. She patiently answered all my questions, provided extra help and service, and genuinely wants her guests to have a memorable stay. To this end, she also provides other “goodies” to make the stay more comfortable – beach towels, beach/pool toys, games, umbrellas, hats, and extra toiletries. The condo is located south of town next to San Francisco Beach. At first, I was concerned about being “far from town,” but it is an easy, 10 minute drive up the “highway.” The hotel restaurants north of the condo complex will not serve non-hotel guests and the restaurants on the beach south of town close at sunset. So, I would definitely rent a car for ease of access to restaurants in town and the grocery store. If you don’t want to rent a car, you can also take a taxi if you won’t be taking many trips, and the taxis will usually return to pick you up for the trip home. The unit, itself, is right on the beach with easy access to the pier for scuba diving and other boating activities. It is also next to the pool and, of course, the beach. The beach has chaise lounges and Palapas for shade. The beach is protected by buoys so it is great for swimming and snorkeling. All the beaches in Cozumel can be a little rocky, so I would recommend swim shoes or scuba booties for swimming. We have been diving with Dive Paradise for over 15 years. They are a large operation, but will cater to individual needs. We always book the “express” boats (either AM or PM) which carry a maximum of 6 divers and always request Julio as our Dive Master. The dive boats pick divers up at the pier just north of the condo. The condo complex has a scuba rinse tank located behind the bathrooms at the pool. We would stop at the rinse tank on our way back from the pier to rinse our gear. We then brought the gear to the condo to dry on the patio (but not on the wood railing!). It was an easy routine to get used to. As I said in the beginning, we would definitely return to unit 5120. It was a great experience and felt like home away from home."

  • snorkel every day

"Our family of 5 enjoyed a week at Solymar and we will return. The house is a perfect design, every room has an ocean view. The pool is a beauty. The terrace is a delight. The level of comfort is high. You will find a well equipped kitchen, handsome decor, excellent bedding, thick towels, daily housekeeping and the use of a golf cart! We explored the bays to each side and snorkeled all over. There are several really good restaurants and shops in Akumal. We went sailing one day and fishing on another. We visited Tulum and Playa. We also went to Dos Ojos cenote. On our last day we saw the Centro Ecological group doing their work on the beach and they were very kind. They let us watch a turtle hatch. They showed us what they were doing to make sure every baby was able to dig out of the deep sand nests. They had 30 or more ready for release that night and we got to see them. It was awesome! We had been swimming with huge turtles all week and now we knew more about them. This was our 6th vacation on the Mexican rivera and by far the best."

Yucatan, Mayan Riviera Travel Tips

Mayan Resorts Along the Yucatan Peninsula

On your next trip to the Yucatan Peninsula, consider traveling to Mayan resorts. The Mayan Riviera in Mexico is one of the more fascinating destination spots in the world. You have tropical beaches, ancient ruins, and a myriad of marine and wildlife, all steps away from Yucatan vacation rentals. The Mayan Riviera is more than one city; in fact, it is about 11 cities. Popular destinations for Yucatan villas include but are not limited to Playa del Carmen, Playacar, Akumal, Tulum, Puerto Aventuras, Puerto Morelos, and Xpu-Ha.

Forested Scenery near Yucatan Vacation Rentals

As you drive along route 307 to reach Yucatan vacation rentals, you will discover the land is flat and the scenery is akin to a flat forested region much like Canada or Europe. Interspersed along the highway are boulder-laden cliffs that will lead you down to clean, white sandy beaches. Once you arrive at Yucatan villas, you are able to sit on a private beach all day watching the waves roll in or playing in the surf. Playa del Carmen is the most popular Mayan Riviera destination where plenty of Mayan resorts await.

Yucatan Villas by Fifth Avenue

If you elect to stay in Playa del Carmen rather than other Mayan Riviera destinations, you can walk down Fifth Avenue on the local strip and pet wild lions, play with boa constrictors, or watch Maruichi bands. Many of the Yucatan villas are situated on the strip to provide you the most active nightlife and access to the beautiful beach. Cruises dock close to the strip, filling up the town with new faces each Tuesday and Thursday. Because so many cruise ships dock there, you'll find many jewelry stores, arts and crafts stores, and other retail shops that offer wonderful deals.

Mayan Resorts Provide Whale Shark Sightings

Water sports are the most attractive attractions in the Mayan Riviera. From Mayan resorts, you can head out to sea on a deep sea fishing tour or scuba dive boat. If you truly want a diving experience you will never forget, make sure the dive boat is heading to the known locations where the whale sharks hang out. Whale sharks can be very elusive creatures but dive boats in the Mayan Riviera have managed to find areas where they tend to hang out. At the end of your day with water sports, it may be time to head back to your Yucatan vacation rentals for a home-cooked Mexican meal.
