  • Home Run

"Wow did we ever hit a home run with Casa Paraiso!!! My wife, two grown kids and I, really felt special staying here. The photo's are representative of the condo but don't really do it justice. It's a really wonderful place with a great layout. The balcony off the living room and master bedroom added a cool dimension. The roof top, oh the roof top...we spent so much time up there. We had our morning latte's there (we brought our own portable unit, but Starbuck's is 50 steps away). We had our afternoon cocktails there. We had our nightcap there. We thought the spiral staircase in the photo was sketchy, but it was fine and had no problem even when carrying dos cervezas. The location was perfect. Right off 5th to go for a stroll and people watch. But also far enough off 5th that it was quite inside the condo. We could hear music from the bar next door when we were on the roof top but it was to our liking. Coincidently, my daughter's friend and family were in Playa staying at a hotel, They came over and were blown away. They'll probably stay here next time they are in Playa. The four of us did our PADI Open Water Diver certification with Scuba Playa. They are fantastic and so was our instructor Ace. We did the theory portion online, because really, who wants to be inside when in PLaya. We then did a dive with Bull Sharks and a day in Cozumel. Awesome!!! We took Kris's suggestion and hired Marinoh as driver to/from the airport. He gave us a quick tour of places around the condo and suggested a few authentic Mexican restaurants. Los Aqua Chilies just off of 5th had really fresh seafood. Don Sirloin was a real hit too. We found restaurants off of 5th we typically 1/2 the price and same or better quality. We rented a car for the day and went to Coba, Grand Cenote and Akumal to snorkel with the turtles. Long day but we'd do it again. We would definitely come back here. Cheers, Rick, Sharon, Nolan & Margot"

  • Akumal - Casa Palapa Get-a-way

"Pio, Fernando, and Norma take excellent care of the Casa Palapa and provide terrific guidance on what to do and what not to do. Pio knows this area very well and is very personable and fun to talk with. Residents of Akumal know Pio and even called him for us when we made a visit to Akumal. Fernando and Norma are always smiling and making sure your stay is comfortable. We are able to find the great place to stay and enjoy the Mayan Riviera. Probably the best highlight for our family of 5, all the kids being teenagers, is that we got to enjoy the sea turtles coming to the beach to lay eggs and baby sea turtles hatch and run for the sea. Many critters to enjoy while here: Iguana’s, hermit crabs, sea turtles, and regular crabs. Within 20 minutes of this spot were the Tulum Ruins, Dos Ojos Cenote, Chedraui (store), Akumal, Gas stations, and a golf course. We told Pio our vacation was to just come relax and enjoy the sun and beach, and he let us do, but let me add that Pio offers deep sea fishing, snorkeling, and will help you with anything you want to do. As you follow the directions to Casa Palapa and you stop at Chedraui to stock up, just know that this store will take American money and have the best exchange rates (12.98 P : 1 USD). I am recommending this Casa Palapa to my family and friends. I would give this 4.5 stars but don’t have the option to, so I gave it a 4. I do this because of not being able to turn the lights off on the outside at night."

  • Perfect for a Family Vacation

"My family made its 2nd stay at Casa Cielo on Cozumel over Easter Break. The house has not changed since our last stay in 2008. The house is perfectly laid out for a family. It is so nice to have a full kitchen and a place to dine together (either inside or outside by the pool) rather than eating out nightly. There is a grocery store on the south side of San Miguel just a few miles away. Casa Cielo is bright and airy and has a wonderful for pool for stay-at-home days. We also used the beach for baseball practice and throwing other stuff. You can snorkel right off the beach and our neighbors said they saw an octopus, a moray eel, and more. The house is located south of town which makes for easy access to the best beaches and diving. The house was clean and well-attended and made for a great home on vacation."

Yucatan, Mayan Riviera Travel Tips

Mayan Resorts Along the Yucatan Peninsula

On your next trip to the Yucatan Peninsula, consider traveling to Mayan resorts. The Mayan Riviera in Mexico is one of the more fascinating destination spots in the world. You have tropical beaches, ancient ruins, and a myriad of marine and wildlife, all steps away from Yucatan vacation rentals. The Mayan Riviera is more than one city; in fact, it is about 11 cities. Popular destinations for Yucatan villas include but are not limited to Playa del Carmen, Playacar, Akumal, Tulum, Puerto Aventuras, Puerto Morelos, and Xpu-Ha.

Forested Scenery near Yucatan Vacation Rentals

As you drive along route 307 to reach Yucatan vacation rentals, you will discover the land is flat and the scenery is akin to a flat forested region much like Canada or Europe. Interspersed along the highway are boulder-laden cliffs that will lead you down to clean, white sandy beaches. Once you arrive at Yucatan villas, you are able to sit on a private beach all day watching the waves roll in or playing in the surf. Playa del Carmen is the most popular Mayan Riviera destination where plenty of Mayan resorts await.

Yucatan Villas by Fifth Avenue

If you elect to stay in Playa del Carmen rather than other Mayan Riviera destinations, you can walk down Fifth Avenue on the local strip and pet wild lions, play with boa constrictors, or watch Maruichi bands. Many of the Yucatan villas are situated on the strip to provide you the most active nightlife and access to the beautiful beach. Cruises dock close to the strip, filling up the town with new faces each Tuesday and Thursday. Because so many cruise ships dock there, you'll find many jewelry stores, arts and crafts stores, and other retail shops that offer wonderful deals.

Mayan Resorts Provide Whale Shark Sightings

Water sports are the most attractive attractions in the Mayan Riviera. From Mayan resorts, you can head out to sea on a deep sea fishing tour or scuba dive boat. If you truly want a diving experience you will never forget, make sure the dive boat is heading to the known locations where the whale sharks hang out. Whale sharks can be very elusive creatures but dive boats in the Mayan Riviera have managed to find areas where they tend to hang out. At the end of your day with water sports, it may be time to head back to your Yucatan vacation rentals for a home-cooked Mexican meal.
