  • Great condo on the water

"The condo was great and the staff were all very nice. Lovely setup for sitting on the beach in front of the restaurant. A short walk to 5th Ave shops, the Cozumel Ferry and Hertz car rental. We rented a car and drove to the Coba ruins one day, and explored Dos Ojos cenote another."

  • Spacious Condo, Convenient Location for a Big Family

"I took our 8 year old and 4 “twenty somethings” to Cozumel over Holy Week. I picked this condo from the description, pictures and helpful reviews of past guests. It is in a perfect location to quickly access downtown, the marina, and conveniences like the grocery store and the airport. The condo is spacious, modern and spotless and had everything we needed for the week including a washer/dryer, filtered water, and a well stocked kitchen. We walked most of the time, but taxis are inexpensive and easy to catch in front of the condo. We also rented a vehicle one day in order to visit the other side of the island. The undeveloped beaches, rocks, and surf are beautiful and provided the backdrop for amazing photos. We enjoyed climbing up the trail to Coconut’s for lunch. The cliffside view is spectacular and the food/drinks are delicious. The older kids also went deep sea fishing with Albatross Charters, Eddie’s recommendation. They pulled in fish all day. The crew prepared fresh Mahi -mahi ceviche on board with their catch and then cleaned the rest for a meal we enjoyed later in the week. One touristy excursion we did was the pirate dinner cruise…”a good time was had by all”! Most of our days were spent lounging by the quiet pool and snorkeling right in front of the condo. Just be aware there is a current, but proficient swimmers will be fine. We all enjoyed hours of spotting starfish, eels, rays, conch, barracuda, and numerous reef fish. Eddie is timely with his communication and was available during our vacation to answer questions and to provide recommendations for restaurants and services. We followed his advice and were never disappointed. Plus, everyone in Cozumel knows him and his name often comes with a nice discount! The one thing I wish I had known prior to coming to Cozumel is that “cash is king”. Next time I would bring at least $300 USD in 5’s and 1’s for tips, taxis and small purchases. The residents prefer cash. I expected to use credit cards every time we went to a restaurant. However, many only take cash. We all agreed we want to come back to Cozumel. After getting acquainted with the whole island, this condo is in a great location. For those who need it, there is a/c, but if I want cold, dry air, I’ll stay at home. We kept the windows open all week and enjoyed the ocean breeze and sounds of the waves from every bedroom...luxurious! Thanks for your hospitality, Eddie!"

  • Semana Santa (Easter 2015)

"I arrived for Semana Santa and was greeted by Kim the caretaker. He took care to make sure everyone in my party (including my two cats) were comfortable, and went above and beyond in these duties. He made the snorkeling and kayaking experiences easy and very enjoyable. We appreciate his generosity for the entire two week vacation afforded us at Casa del Sol, and Mio Maya. I was also available to assist Kim in greeting and caring for other vacationers during Semana Santa. By translating the occasional comment or advice in Spanish for two such parties, I was able to ascertain their complete satisfaction and was happy to pass on their excellent reviews as well. Thank you for a lovely vacation, with pristine snorkelling, and an adventure in the wild National Park of Mexico's south."

  • Perfect group vacation in paradise

"Rating Details: I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were a group of 9 including 4 children ranging from 18 months to 13 years. Everyone had a wonderful time. Edgar and Nini were wonderful hosts and truly made us feel at home. (Ask Edgar to show you his paintings) I would highly recommend the meal option-- we had fresh squeezed orange juice daily, gourmet quality meals, fresh papaya, mango, pineapple. My wife even picked up some cooking tips from Edgar. We used Dive House for those who went diving and Dive Palancar for a snorkel glass bottom boat trip for the kids (which they loved-- saw nurse shark, turtle, sting ray, star fish, and lionfish). Both dive shops are right next to the house. The little kids loved the wading pool and were entertained by the resident iguanas. The wooden pier down to the water was great for a quick snorkel during the day and beautiful sunsets every night. The rooftop deck was also great for lounging (though the hammock was not working). We rented one car which was enough for supply runs into town, a trip to San Gervasio ruins, a drive along the east coast, and a visit to La Casa del Mojito in town for mojitos and cuban cigars. Everyone was sad to leave and already thinking of a return trip to Las Ventanas!"

Yucatan, Mayan Riviera Travel Tips

Mayan Resorts Along the Yucatan Peninsula

On your next trip to the Yucatan Peninsula, consider traveling to Mayan resorts. The Mayan Riviera in Mexico is one of the more fascinating destination spots in the world. You have tropical beaches, ancient ruins, and a myriad of marine and wildlife, all steps away from Yucatan vacation rentals. The Mayan Riviera is more than one city; in fact, it is about 11 cities. Popular destinations for Yucatan villas include but are not limited to Playa del Carmen, Playacar, Akumal, Tulum, Puerto Aventuras, Puerto Morelos, and Xpu-Ha.

Forested Scenery near Yucatan Vacation Rentals

As you drive along route 307 to reach Yucatan vacation rentals, you will discover the land is flat and the scenery is akin to a flat forested region much like Canada or Europe. Interspersed along the highway are boulder-laden cliffs that will lead you down to clean, white sandy beaches. Once you arrive at Yucatan villas, you are able to sit on a private beach all day watching the waves roll in or playing in the surf. Playa del Carmen is the most popular Mayan Riviera destination where plenty of Mayan resorts await.

Yucatan Villas by Fifth Avenue

If you elect to stay in Playa del Carmen rather than other Mayan Riviera destinations, you can walk down Fifth Avenue on the local strip and pet wild lions, play with boa constrictors, or watch Maruichi bands. Many of the Yucatan villas are situated on the strip to provide you the most active nightlife and access to the beautiful beach. Cruises dock close to the strip, filling up the town with new faces each Tuesday and Thursday. Because so many cruise ships dock there, you'll find many jewelry stores, arts and crafts stores, and other retail shops that offer wonderful deals.

Mayan Resorts Provide Whale Shark Sightings

Water sports are the most attractive attractions in the Mayan Riviera. From Mayan resorts, you can head out to sea on a deep sea fishing tour or scuba dive boat. If you truly want a diving experience you will never forget, make sure the dive boat is heading to the known locations where the whale sharks hang out. Whale sharks can be very elusive creatures but dive boats in the Mayan Riviera have managed to find areas where they tend to hang out. At the end of your day with water sports, it may be time to head back to your Yucatan vacation rentals for a home-cooked Mexican meal.
