"Great place, great views , great location. Only bad thing is the furniture on the terrace is made of plastic piping and is junk. The chairs came apart several times. Would still highly recommend the place"

  • Beautiful Vacation Home

"We have just returned from a week's vacation at Villa Arrecife. We were a family of 8 who stayed at the Villa. The Villa is absolutely beautiful and was spotless. There was plenty of space for the 8 of us to gather including a gourmet kitchen, dining area and large family room. The cleaning lady was there most of the day to clean the Villa which also included laundry service and dishes. We brought in a chef service to make our evening meals so we were totally pampered during our stay. The grounds and pool area are maintained very well. If you wanted some quiet time, you could retreat to one of the balconies on the second floor to read a book or just look out at the view. We felt so safe staying on the premises of the gated resort - each evening we would walk down to the beach. The villa is approximately a 5 minute drive from Akumal Beach. We used Cancun Shuttle Service which picked us at the airport and drove us to the Villa, and then returned us to the airport the following week. There is a taxi stand located on the resort so we were able to grab a cab whenever we needed. I would have no hesitation in recommending the villa to others and I would definitely stay there again. This is the first time we have used VRBO and was so impressed. Tamara was wonderful to deal with and answered all of my questions. T"

  • First Impressions

"We just checked in and I wanted to share our first impressions. The condo is lovely, exactly as pictured. It does sleep eight, three of the bedrooms have private baths - quite a luxury. The baths are lovely even by US standards. One of the beds is actually kind of in an opening down the hallway - no privacy and that person needs to be the first to wake up because it is right next to the kitchen. There is even a bath for that room. The views, the property are all beautiful. There is a grill by the beach so we look forward to doing some cooking and eating outside. We had a very friendly greeting upon arrival. The negatives so far are that the treadmills aren't working, a big disappointment to some in our group who got up early in the first day to exercise. If there is a hot tub, it doesn't work - also disappointing for our crew who went to find it in their suits on the first night. Only the master bedroom has curtains, which our college kids on break are not happy about because they were hoping to catch up on sleep. A lot of VRBOs have games for people to play while they stay there and we have only seen a deck of cards. These are the things we love to know ahead of time so we can pack/plan accordingly. We have already talked to Alex who seems very responsive and we trust will help us with any issues in our condo. This spot is lovely, our divers are excited to head out tomorrow and we are sure to enjoy a week in paradise."

  • Grand Mayan Family Getaway

"We just returned from our Grand Mayan trip. Ed was great with helping us with all of the details for a fantastic vacation. Everything about our trip was enjoyable from the time we checked in to the time we left. The rooms and property we very nice and the staff was top notch. The overall experience exceeded our expectations and there was not ONE time that the Grand Mayan staff did not solve any issue or answer question that we had. Again, thank you Ed for helping our family enjoy a most memorable vacation at a magnificent resort."

Yucatan, Mayan Riviera Travel Tips

Mayan Resorts Along the Yucatan Peninsula

On your next trip to the Yucatan Peninsula, consider traveling to Mayan resorts. The Mayan Riviera in Mexico is one of the more fascinating destination spots in the world. You have tropical beaches, ancient ruins, and a myriad of marine and wildlife, all steps away from Yucatan vacation rentals. The Mayan Riviera is more than one city; in fact, it is about 11 cities. Popular destinations for Yucatan villas include but are not limited to Playa del Carmen, Playacar, Akumal, Tulum, Puerto Aventuras, Puerto Morelos, and Xpu-Ha.

Forested Scenery near Yucatan Vacation Rentals

As you drive along route 307 to reach Yucatan vacation rentals, you will discover the land is flat and the scenery is akin to a flat forested region much like Canada or Europe. Interspersed along the highway are boulder-laden cliffs that will lead you down to clean, white sandy beaches. Once you arrive at Yucatan villas, you are able to sit on a private beach all day watching the waves roll in or playing in the surf. Playa del Carmen is the most popular Mayan Riviera destination where plenty of Mayan resorts await.

Yucatan Villas by Fifth Avenue

If you elect to stay in Playa del Carmen rather than other Mayan Riviera destinations, you can walk down Fifth Avenue on the local strip and pet wild lions, play with boa constrictors, or watch Maruichi bands. Many of the Yucatan villas are situated on the strip to provide you the most active nightlife and access to the beautiful beach. Cruises dock close to the strip, filling up the town with new faces each Tuesday and Thursday. Because so many cruise ships dock there, you'll find many jewelry stores, arts and crafts stores, and other retail shops that offer wonderful deals.

Mayan Resorts Provide Whale Shark Sightings

Water sports are the most attractive attractions in the Mayan Riviera. From Mayan resorts, you can head out to sea on a deep sea fishing tour or scuba dive boat. If you truly want a diving experience you will never forget, make sure the dive boat is heading to the known locations where the whale sharks hang out. Whale sharks can be very elusive creatures but dive boats in the Mayan Riviera have managed to find areas where they tend to hang out. At the end of your day with water sports, it may be time to head back to your Yucatan vacation rentals for a home-cooked Mexican meal.
