  • Spectacular getaway at an affordable price

"We were blown away by the beauty and comfort of this place. The house is lovely, has every comfort and convenience and is RIGHT ON THE BEACH. This is the perfect place to leave it all behind and just relax. The beach is very nice, we felt completely safe our entire time in the Yucatan and the people are super friendly. You can't go wrong here. I agree with a previous review that this place is even better than pictures will have you think. Amazing value!"

  • Nice getaway! Allergy Free!! AND SEA TURTLES!!!!

"My husband and I spent a week here in July and found this condo at Cancun Plaza exactly as advertised. It is a studio, but they have maximized the space. The pool was comfortable, the ocean a few steps away and we never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a bus to go to town. Once we went to the store, using the microwave and hot plate, we were able to prepare breakfast and lunch in the condo every day to save money. The restaurant is OK (not great) in a pinch and there is a burger place across the street that is pretty good (shrimp fajitas were great). Late at night we were able to watch (quietly, in the dark, SEVERAL YARDS away, no flash photography AT ALL) Sea Turtles come up on land, drag themselves inland, bury themselves, lay eggs, dig out and crawl back into the sea (about a three hour process). It was amazing. There are two convenience stores for water and sodas and snacks. Carmen (the on site manager) was amazing and super responsive and helpful and the homeowners answered all of our questions right away. There is no smoking, feather pillows or pets allowed here so I did not have any allergy problems. I would just recommend bringing your own detergent if you are hyper-sensitive and will need to do laundry. All in all, great experience. Would recommend to anyone who does not mind being the only Americans on site (it was actually quite nice)."

  • 6-night stay by active senior couple

"We loved our stay at Casa Lux! 10 blocks from the lively central street with easy access to public transportation/small market/produce market, accurately represented on vrbo (photos and description), clean and well-maintained, owner particularly attentive (e.g. response to emails in advance, helpful information folio on-site, responded cheerfully to all our inquiries while we were there. Highly recommend this upstairs property to one or two people who want to be near Merida center, yet in a quiet neighborhood."

"We stayed 10 days in Villa Geminis and would definitely go back. The owner and the staff were great and the location was perfect . We have 3 small children and it was perfect for our family. Also a great yoga studio 1 block away which was a great bonus."

Yucatan, Mayan Riviera Travel Tips

Mayan Resorts Along the Yucatan Peninsula

On your next trip to the Yucatan Peninsula, consider traveling to Mayan resorts. The Mayan Riviera in Mexico is one of the more fascinating destination spots in the world. You have tropical beaches, ancient ruins, and a myriad of marine and wildlife, all steps away from Yucatan vacation rentals. The Mayan Riviera is more than one city; in fact, it is about 11 cities. Popular destinations for Yucatan villas include but are not limited to Playa del Carmen, Playacar, Akumal, Tulum, Puerto Aventuras, Puerto Morelos, and Xpu-Ha.

Forested Scenery near Yucatan Vacation Rentals

As you drive along route 307 to reach Yucatan vacation rentals, you will discover the land is flat and the scenery is akin to a flat forested region much like Canada or Europe. Interspersed along the highway are boulder-laden cliffs that will lead you down to clean, white sandy beaches. Once you arrive at Yucatan villas, you are able to sit on a private beach all day watching the waves roll in or playing in the surf. Playa del Carmen is the most popular Mayan Riviera destination where plenty of Mayan resorts await.

Yucatan Villas by Fifth Avenue

If you elect to stay in Playa del Carmen rather than other Mayan Riviera destinations, you can walk down Fifth Avenue on the local strip and pet wild lions, play with boa constrictors, or watch Maruichi bands. Many of the Yucatan villas are situated on the strip to provide you the most active nightlife and access to the beautiful beach. Cruises dock close to the strip, filling up the town with new faces each Tuesday and Thursday. Because so many cruise ships dock there, you'll find many jewelry stores, arts and crafts stores, and other retail shops that offer wonderful deals.

Mayan Resorts Provide Whale Shark Sightings

Water sports are the most attractive attractions in the Mayan Riviera. From Mayan resorts, you can head out to sea on a deep sea fishing tour or scuba dive boat. If you truly want a diving experience you will never forget, make sure the dive boat is heading to the known locations where the whale sharks hang out. Whale sharks can be very elusive creatures but dive boats in the Mayan Riviera have managed to find areas where they tend to hang out. At the end of your day with water sports, it may be time to head back to your Yucatan vacation rentals for a home-cooked Mexican meal.
