  • Nice combination of all that's good on Isla

"We stayed at Casa de La Cupulas with another family for one week. The house is very unique and has a lovely pool that is heated to the perfect temperature. We had 5 kids staying with us, and the heated pool turned out to be very important, as the local beach club has only unheated pools. (BTW, the beachclub is worth the trip!) The house is located in the quiet section of the island. This meant a longer drive to town, but we enjoyed driving our rented golf carts, and it gave us the freedom to go running each morning. It also helped us avoid the noise of the city. The cook, Amira, was amazing. All she wants is for you to pick what you would like to eat, and she can make it. It's all authentic and amazing. It is important to note that there are three bedrooms in the main house, and two bedrooms in the nearby guesthouse. This was a little bit of a problem for us, as the children did not want to sleep out their alone, so we had to join them. The entire place is very clean. The tennis court is nice. Manuel, the caretaker, is quiet but kind and very dedicated to his work. Both Amira and Manuel pretty much only speak Spanish, but guests can use the owner (who is available by phone) to help with any translations for groceries etc. This was not an issue for us as we enjoyed trying out our Spanish and they welcomed our efforts. David, the owner, was always very responsive to any questions or requests we had, and genuinely wanted us to be happy. The home is very important to him as he designed it himself. They did have a dog who lived at the house in the past, but unfortunately, he recently passed away. The cat lives outside and is friendly. The shoreline right across the street is rocky, windy, and beautiful. You can't swim here, but it is a great place to walk. Just a short walk around the tip of the island by road brings you to the sandy side. We were not able to really snorkel due to recent rain and wind churning up the sea, but we hear it is good otherwise. Just hanging out by the beach with a cool drink was fantastic in itself. Overall, we had a great week on Isla de Mujares and have many happy memories of Casa de La Cupulas."

  • Yucatan retreat

"This is a spot I would recommend for different reasons: 1st the location makes it easy to visit Yucatan with a quick access to the highway - 2nd the house is simply gorgeous and fully equipped 3rd last but not least ... there is a nice care of the guests from the owners with special attentions such as banana bred which I enjoyed particularly. ( frenchies leaving in Mexico)"

  • Spacious with Beautiful Views

"The views from this two floor, spacious condo are amazing! Standing on any blacony (and there are many of them) you only see the beautiful ocean, palm trees and perfectly maintained pool/grounds. I loved not having any other buildings in my sight line. And the rooms were huge! Our family of six had an amazing time in Mexico and coming home to the Pura Vida condo at the end of our tours was a real treat. I'll also say this particular beach is very family friendly (which many of the beaches in the Cancun area are not). As a mom with young teen-aged children, I appreciated that. Great space, great service - we were very pleased."

  • Amazing Vacation

"Our stay at the Villa Stella Del Mar was fantastic. The owner, Francesca, was easy to communicate with and she answered all our questions before we arrived in Playa. Sergio, the guest services representative attended to our every need including locating and arranging tours and pick up from the airport. Cindy, the housekeeper, did a fabulous job as well. The house was clean, well equipped, and ideally located on a quiet and peaceful street that was a mere 15 minute walk to 5th Ave restaurants, bars, etc. and a 5 minute walk to the Reef Playacar Resort and the beach. Having access to the Reef was an excellent bonus. There was plenty of room for the 6 of us and the washer and dryer came in handy. Would definitely recommend this rental."

Yucatan, Mayan Riviera Travel Tips

Mayan Resorts Along the Yucatan Peninsula

On your next trip to the Yucatan Peninsula, consider traveling to Mayan resorts. The Mayan Riviera in Mexico is one of the more fascinating destination spots in the world. You have tropical beaches, ancient ruins, and a myriad of marine and wildlife, all steps away from Yucatan vacation rentals. The Mayan Riviera is more than one city; in fact, it is about 11 cities. Popular destinations for Yucatan villas include but are not limited to Playa del Carmen, Playacar, Akumal, Tulum, Puerto Aventuras, Puerto Morelos, and Xpu-Ha.

Forested Scenery near Yucatan Vacation Rentals

As you drive along route 307 to reach Yucatan vacation rentals, you will discover the land is flat and the scenery is akin to a flat forested region much like Canada or Europe. Interspersed along the highway are boulder-laden cliffs that will lead you down to clean, white sandy beaches. Once you arrive at Yucatan villas, you are able to sit on a private beach all day watching the waves roll in or playing in the surf. Playa del Carmen is the most popular Mayan Riviera destination where plenty of Mayan resorts await.

Yucatan Villas by Fifth Avenue

If you elect to stay in Playa del Carmen rather than other Mayan Riviera destinations, you can walk down Fifth Avenue on the local strip and pet wild lions, play with boa constrictors, or watch Maruichi bands. Many of the Yucatan villas are situated on the strip to provide you the most active nightlife and access to the beautiful beach. Cruises dock close to the strip, filling up the town with new faces each Tuesday and Thursday. Because so many cruise ships dock there, you'll find many jewelry stores, arts and crafts stores, and other retail shops that offer wonderful deals.

Mayan Resorts Provide Whale Shark Sightings

Water sports are the most attractive attractions in the Mayan Riviera. From Mayan resorts, you can head out to sea on a deep sea fishing tour or scuba dive boat. If you truly want a diving experience you will never forget, make sure the dive boat is heading to the known locations where the whale sharks hang out. Whale sharks can be very elusive creatures but dive boats in the Mayan Riviera have managed to find areas where they tend to hang out. At the end of your day with water sports, it may be time to head back to your Yucatan vacation rentals for a home-cooked Mexican meal.
