  • Wonderful vacation in Paradise

"We stayed at Casa Catarina for a week in February and we had a fabulous vacation. My sister and her family and our friends and their family stayed in Villa Martini just down the path from us. In total our group was 13 people (6 adults and 7 young children, all under age 6). The home was huge and very comfortable for our family (we did not even use the upper level for sleeping). We loved having the kids pool as well as the regular pool for our kids to spend hours playing in, and the beach right adjacent to the pool was great for the kids as well as for us to watch them. We took everyone to Chankanaab park to swim with the dolphins and manatees, which the kids thought was fantastic. We spent a day at Chen Rio beach on the other side of the island and it was absolutely beautiful. Amber, Vanessa and Rodrigo also arranged a for a boat to take us out on the water one day where we were able to walk around on sand dunes and do some snorkeling in absolutely beautiful water. Watching the breath-taking sunsets over the water every evening was definitely a highlight and something that we looked forward to every evening. We rented the SUV from the homeowner and found that it was a great decision as it was reasonably priced and we liked the convenience of having Vanessa pick us up in it at the airport. Vanessa, Amber and Rodrigo were always available to assist us with anything we needed. They were very knowledgeable about everything on the island; anything you want to do they will arrange for you. Advice for future visitors would be to be aware of the fact that credit cards are not widely accepted, basically anywhere on the island (including Your Cozumel), so it is important to come with cash. We found that even the bank machines were often unreliable. It was a bit of a hassle to have to drive in every day or two to withdraw more money, and we did not love having to carry large quantities of cash on us every day (although it is important to say that we always felt safe on the island and in our gated community). Additionally, it is good to stock up on food and any other amenities you may need when you get there (or get Vanessa to get them for you prior to arriving), as it was a bit of a drive into the supermarket (and more of a hassle because we did have young children in our group). Overall we loved our vacation and found that for us, it was a great place to visit as a family. We are already planning to come back."

  • Wow again

Encore merci"

  • Magic in Mexico!

"Casa Almaviva, from the first moment you arrive provides a haven to relax, renew and enjoy your natural environment. It was a perfect place for a birthday trip with friends -- weather it was a morning relaxing on our private beach (feels like you have your own private island!) or an afternoon using the bikes, kayaks, snorkels and fins to work up an appetite we were happy to do nothing or have any activity at your disposal. David and Miriam, the staff at the house are welcoming and wonderful. The food was lovely and fresh. My personal favorites: time in the hammocks by the ocean and sunrise and sunset on the roof deck with a wonderful cup or coffee in the AM and wine at night. AND the weather was perfect -- warm days and cools nights! No A/C needed (even if it is provided). An adventurous day trip down to Punta Allen to go on a boat tour to see amazing wild life and snorkel in the gorgeous water was also a highlight! We will definitely make Casa Almaviva a yearly tradition!"

Yucatan, Mayan Riviera Travel Tips

Mayan Resorts Along the Yucatan Peninsula

On your next trip to the Yucatan Peninsula, consider traveling to Mayan resorts. The Mayan Riviera in Mexico is one of the more fascinating destination spots in the world. You have tropical beaches, ancient ruins, and a myriad of marine and wildlife, all steps away from Yucatan vacation rentals. The Mayan Riviera is more than one city; in fact, it is about 11 cities. Popular destinations for Yucatan villas include but are not limited to Playa del Carmen, Playacar, Akumal, Tulum, Puerto Aventuras, Puerto Morelos, and Xpu-Ha.

Forested Scenery near Yucatan Vacation Rentals

As you drive along route 307 to reach Yucatan vacation rentals, you will discover the land is flat and the scenery is akin to a flat forested region much like Canada or Europe. Interspersed along the highway are boulder-laden cliffs that will lead you down to clean, white sandy beaches. Once you arrive at Yucatan villas, you are able to sit on a private beach all day watching the waves roll in or playing in the surf. Playa del Carmen is the most popular Mayan Riviera destination where plenty of Mayan resorts await.

Yucatan Villas by Fifth Avenue

If you elect to stay in Playa del Carmen rather than other Mayan Riviera destinations, you can walk down Fifth Avenue on the local strip and pet wild lions, play with boa constrictors, or watch Maruichi bands. Many of the Yucatan villas are situated on the strip to provide you the most active nightlife and access to the beautiful beach. Cruises dock close to the strip, filling up the town with new faces each Tuesday and Thursday. Because so many cruise ships dock there, you'll find many jewelry stores, arts and crafts stores, and other retail shops that offer wonderful deals.

Mayan Resorts Provide Whale Shark Sightings

Water sports are the most attractive attractions in the Mayan Riviera. From Mayan resorts, you can head out to sea on a deep sea fishing tour or scuba dive boat. If you truly want a diving experience you will never forget, make sure the dive boat is heading to the known locations where the whale sharks hang out. Whale sharks can be very elusive creatures but dive boats in the Mayan Riviera have managed to find areas where they tend to hang out. At the end of your day with water sports, it may be time to head back to your Yucatan vacation rentals for a home-cooked Mexican meal.
