  • A true vacation

"I wanted to take a moment to thank Greg, Fannie , Jorge and Billie for our wonderful trip to their home in Cartagena. My family has been traveling to Cartagena annually for the last 15 years. We have had the opportunity to stay at several on the homes listed on VRBO. Of all the places we have stayed this is the first review I have written. I felt compelled to pass on to others the fantastic location, luxurious home and (7 star) rated staff. The home is located directly in the heart of Cartagena on the side street next to San Pedro Claver. The entrance is very un becoming and affords the property a sense on anonymity giving you a since of security un parallel in most hotels. The home itself in immaculate in appearance and impeccable in the taste of the decorator. The views are very understated as the best I've seen in all of Cartagena. The bed rooms are very comfortable and absolutely sound proof. We were met at the airport by Jorge and taken to the home. At the home we were greeted by a most gracious host, Fannie, her ease and grace made us feel instantly welcomed. Greg called to check up on us a few times during our stay and was genuinely concerned with our well being. I've read some of the other reviews and really want to re iterate the best feature of the home and our stay. Jorge and Billie are hands down some of the kindest and most sincere people I have met in all my travels. What a true gentleman and genuine lady. They were there to see that anything we needed/wanted was taken care of and found. Jorge have a very calming (almost Morgan Freeman) tone to his voice and his gentle and caring nature makes him a rare find in today's world. Billie prepared all our meals and they were fabulous. Her smile will brighten any room and her meals will erase any bumps you've come across during the day. Both the home and the service are true treasures in the heart on Cartagena. We cannot wait to return. If your on the fence as to where to stay in Cartagena I hope this review will ease you're decision. Take care God Bless"

  • Magnificent!!!!

"My wife and I are nearing the end of a 2 1/2 month stay in this fabulous apartment. This was our third summer stay in BA, and was by far the best. The location is great; never a problem getting a cab. Several bus stops right outside the front door, although we didn't use the buses because cabs are so cheap. The apartment itself is large, very comfortable, and beautifully furnished and equipt; dozens of books on architecture and art. Plenty of hot water. Only 5 apartments in the building; in 2+ months only saw two people in the lobby. Only negative is the noise in both bedrooms; the buses stop just feet from the bedroom windows and the sound of their brakes penetrates the double glazed windows and the silent motorized shutters. A white noise machine handles the traffic noise, but not the buses braking. We tend to be heavy sleepers, so the noise wasn't a major problem. Marcella is super; we had no serious problems during our visit, but she was most responsive in giving us advice and resolving a couple of minor issues. The official conversion rate is currently 8.4 pesos to the dollar, but the "blue" rate is 15.1 peso to the dollar, so we recommend that you carry high denomination dollar bills. Brits and Europeans might well consider carrying US Dollars to convert at the blue rate; The current official rate for euros is 11 pesos; sterling is 13.7 (NO BLUE RATE>>!). We highly recommend this beautiful apartment and we hope to return next summer."

Brazil Travel Tips

Best Seasons to Visit Brazil Vacation Rentals

Brazil is the largest country in South America. A large portion of it sits within the tropics and enjoys a warm year-round tropical climate. The southern parts are more temperate and can get quite cold in the wintertime. The summer months are from October through May, and winter runs from June through September, although Rio de Janeiro and the Amazon regions rarely get cold. If you are planning a visit to either of these areas, you can choose your own travel season. If you don’t like crowds, you will want to avoid Rio de Janeiro during carnival time which occurs in February each year. Millions of people from around the world flock during this time to see the colorful parades and experience the festive vibe. If you want to explore the southern regions, the best season to travel is during the warmer summer months. You can hire a car to get around and enjoy exploring this lesser-known side of Brazil at leisure.

Getting to Brazil Lodging

The primary airport in Brazil is Garoulos International Airport in Sao Paolo. Most international airlines use this as their point of entry into Brazil and for this reason, it is the busiest airport in South America. From here, you can get connecting flights on to Rio de Janeiro, Brazilia, Manaus and various other destinations in Brazil and South America. There are daily scheduled flights that bring visitors from Europe, North America, South Africa and other South American countries. Be prepared to walk quite a distance from the aircraft through passport control and baggage claim. If you plan to stay in Sao Paolo then arrange for a private transfer from the airport or negotiate a set fare with the taxi driver. Sao Paolo is a city that never sleeps and traffic on the highway getting into the city is congested 24 hours a day. If you take a metered taxi, you may find that you have paid more than you bargained for unless you negotiate ahead of time.

Comfortable Accommodation at Brazil Villas

One of the things that may strike you as you arrive in cities such as Rio de Janeiro and Sao Poalo is the vast number of high-rise buildings. These two cities are among the most populous in the world with the vast number of people living in high-rise buildings. Many of the vacation homes are conveniently located in major tourist areas so visitors have easy access to the attractions. Unless you rent a penthouse suite, the apartments are generally quite compact. They are still functional and comfortably furnished. In general, they can accommodate between two and four adults. For those that have larger budgets, you can consider renting a villa which offers a far more spacious accommodation. Villas are generally available in the smaller towns and seaside resorts.

Rio De Janeiro Vacation Rentals

Rio de Janeiro is one of Brazil’s most popular travel destinations. The world-famous Copacabana Beach, Sugarloaf Mountain and the impressive statue of Christ the Redeemer are all well-known landmarks of the city. Located on the Tropic of Capricorn, Rio enjoys a warm tropical climate. This is one of the reasons it is such a popular vacation destination. Visitors can enjoy the beaches and city sights throughout the entire year. The most popular time to visit Rio is in February when the world-famous Carnival and street parade take place. As with most major cities, accommodations can be expensive. Vacation rentals make sense for people who plan to visit for more than just a few days. They offer more affordable accommodation options.
