Vina Del Mar Travel Attractions

Vina del Mar is located in the province of Valparaiso and Chile’s fourth-largest city. It was originally developed as a weekend and holiday destination for the elite families of Santiago. Today, it is known as one of Chile’s best beach resort areas. In the summer months each year, which run from November through March, visitors from all over the globe visit Vina del Mar to enjoy the warm sunshine, beautiful beaches and many available water sports. Spend the days lazing on the beachfront and watching people. With the wide range of international visitors, that is entertainment in itself.

The Vina del Mar casino is large art deco-style building that is surrounded by impressively landscaped gardens. The casino offers visitors a chance to try their luck at the tables and slot machines, and perhaps win some extra spending money for their vacation. The casino also has live entertainment, shows and a number of top-class restaurants for dining.

The city has a number of beautiful parks and water fountains, hence its name. The Jardin Botanica, otherwise known as the Parque de Salitre, is a large botanical garden located on the outskirts of the city. It was created and designed by a wealthy businessman who made his fortunes from exploiting the saltpeter reserves in northern Chile.

Like many of the cities in Chile, the historic buildings have been extensively damaged by repeated earthquakes over the years. There are still some magnificent architectural masterpieces from the early 1800s that can be seen in the central part of Vina del Mar. Make your way to the Avenida Libertad where most of these building s are located and you can take some stunning photographs in the late afternoon sun. The Presidential Summer Palace is another impressive building which is located on the Cerro Castilo.

There are a number of museums in Vina del Mar which showcase Chile’s history and culture. The environmental museum is housed in the Palacio Riolja which is located on Quilotta Street. There are also a number of impressive art exhibitions in the museums and galleries of Vina del Mar.

Traveling to Vina Del Mar Condos

To get to Vina del Mar in Chile, you first need to route via the capital city of Santiago. In all likelihood, you will travel on the national Chilean carrier as it is the primary airline that operates into Chile. From Santiago, you can drive to Vina del Mar which is approximately eight miles away. If you do not feel confident enough to drive, you can arrange for a private transfer to take you from the airport to Vina del Mar. From North America, Europe or other parts of the globe, it is quite likely that you will have to first route via one of the other main South American air hubs such as Sao Paolo, Lima or Buenos Aires. Quite often, you can link up with same-day connections to Santiago. If not, you can always make the most of your forced layover and get to enjoy another South American city.
