  • Matanzas Paradise

"Great location, great house set up for gringos (no Chileno BS, this house is fully equipped and very civilized), super comfortable beds with nice bedding, great view, open kitchen and plenty of lounging space indoor and out. Spectacular region with excellent food and wine, locally sourced, a gourmet's dream."

  • Maravilloso lugar

"Es la segunda vez que nos quedamos en este apartamento, y nuevamente nos la pasamos increíble. Esta vez olvidamos los juguetes de playa pero no fue problema pues el departamento tiene una buena provisión de los mismos. La vista del atardecer es increíble, cocina bien equipada, impecable en cuanto a limpieza, muy buena atención de parte de Scott y muy bien ubicado. Volveremos sin duda al apartamento en nuestra proxima escapada a la playa"

  • Perfect stay with our two year old

"Gloria and Hector hit it off with us from the moment we met at the airport. My son called them dada/dadi (grandpa/grandma in Hindi) and they reciprocated. They toured us around the wine country, Valparaiso and Vina del Mar like only locals can. They made healthy and delicious meals for us that were friendly for my vegetarian wife and moody toddler. My wife and Gloria had a great time shopping great deals together. My son and Hector had a great time at their orchard, plucking fruits, climbing trees, playing with toys - esp a battery charged car running on fit-it-yourself tracks. After we left, my son was already missing Hector dada. We had wonderful conversations with Gloria & Hector about Chile. The best pic I can think of uploading is Gloria's picture at the port of Valparaiso. We would certainly come back and would recommend it for any young family with small children. I think they can charge more for this gorgeous place! Oh, and did I mention that Hector gave us a tour of the fantastic southern sky that you would see on a clear day from the house."

  • The perfect choice in Pucon! Truly Unforgettable!!!!

"A year ago my husband and I put a picture of Gracia a la Vida on our fridge with a dream to go there and explore the highly recommended area of Pucon. Having looked at the house for many months we finally made it! As we drove from Temuco we joked (somewhat anxiously) that of all the houses we had booked for our holiday we thought this one might be too good to be true. We were totally wrong!!! The house is AMAZING, the views of the lake and volcano just phenomenal (Judyth and Bob have done an incredible job making every room special), the garden is truly special with flowers of every colour and variety, and the lawns perfect for our 3 young children to play and run around on. It really is idyllic and we have very special memories from our time there! Picking plums from the orchard, playing with the kitten, Orso the dog, Nelson the caretaker, the rooftop view, are but just a few of them - not to mention meeting Judyth and Bob who are incredibly kind and welcoming. Our children are currently 3 years, 1 1/2 years and 5 months old. We would love to come back again sometime!!"

Chile Travel Tips

Getting to Chile Vacation Rentals

The main travel hub in Chile is the capital city of Santiago. The national Chilean carrier is the primary airline that operates into Santiago and provides regional and domestic connections within South America. If you are traveling from further afield, such as North America or Europe, you will possibly need to route via Sao Paolo or Buenos Aires before getting a connection on to Santiago. If you are traveling domestically within Chile, you may consider looking into the air passes that are offered from time to time by the airlines. These passes provide you with a far more affordable way to get around rather than purchasing point-to-point flights.

Chile Travel Attractions and Activities

Chile runs almost the full length of the western coast of South America. The landscape is dominated by the Andes Mountains and beautiful coastline. With these natural attractions, there are many outdoor recreational activities available for visitors.

The ski resorts in Chile are ranked as some of the best in the world. National ski teams from Europe and North America frequently spend their summer training months in Chile to hone their skills. There are a vast number of resorts. Some of the most popular are located just a short drive from Santiago. Smaller resorts can be found all the way down to Patagonia and very popular with the locals.

Trekking and mountaineering are other popular pastimes. Climbing in the Andes can be challenging and very technical in parts. Patagonia is well known for its excellent routes and climbers travel from all over the world to test their skills on the terrain. It is not a place for inexperienced mountaineers or climbers. The terrain and the climate are harsh and mistakes can be fatal. Chile has a well-established mountain rescue organization that provides support to climbers if they run into trouble. When trekking, ensure you have their number handy so you can get in touch with them if needed.

If you enjoy water sports, a great excursion is to go sea kayaking along the coast. See dolphins and possibly even whales in season. The coastline is spectacularly beautiful and when kayaking, you can get up close to birds, seals and other marine life.

If you enjoy culture and history, there are many museums to visit in Santiago and other major cities. While Chile once had many beautiful building displaying colonial architecture, many have been damaged or destroyed by the earthquakes that frequently rock the country.

Best Time of Year to Visit Chile Vacation Houses

If you plan to go skiing or mountaineering, the best time of year to visit is during the colder winter months. The winter season starts in May and snowfalls are usually consistent enough for the ski resorts to open in early June. The ski season typically runs through August or September, depending on snowfall and temperatures. If you want to enjoy the coastline and many beautiful beaches, the ideal time to visit would be during the warmer summer months which run from October through April.

Vina del Mar Vacation Rentals in Chile

Vina del Mar is Chile’s fourth largest city and located in the province of Valparaiso. It is known as one of the country’s premiere beach destinations. Many tourists, both local and foreign, flock here each year to enjoy the sunshine and wide variety of water sports available. There is an annual music festival that takes place which attracts many visitors. The casino is another of the city's major draws. It is built in art deco style and surrounded by beautiful gardens.
