  • Perfect week!

"We are so greatful to have discovered Gloria and Hector and their wonderful B&B. After a terrible travel experience to get to Chile it was such a relief to be met at the airport by Hector and whisked away to a warm welcome from Gloria. After a well needed rest, we awoke to a delicious meal. They are both fantastic cooks. They drove us all around and made sure we saw the best there was to see of Chile as well as great shopping. They are very knowledgable people. We felt so at home with them. The beds are comfortable, the food delicious and plentiful, the grounds are full of almond, lemon, pear trees and more and they even do your laundry. What more can you ask for? A highlight is sitting in their bedroom with the window open watching all the hummingbirds. Amazing! We could not have had a better trip to Chile. Thank you Gloria and Hector!"

  • Great Place to stay

"My husband and I stayed in this apartment for the month of January. It is centrally located in downtown Santiago only a short walk to a metro station and the shopping area. Being located on the 16th floor allowed for cool breezes in the heat of the day. The apartment was clean and well maintained. The access to the laundry facilities in the building made it very convenient to do our wash. The owners family lives in the building and is available if we needed anything. I would recommend this rental to any travelers."

  • Great location and on the 17th floor

"Had a great 4 days in Santiago, the condo was as described, well equipped and located in a happening area of Santiago. The owner was helpful with local knowledge and prompt with emails. The only downside that it was a little hot in the mornings when the sun shone in, but if you are going out early this is not a problem."

  • Relaxing home

"We are a married couple in our mid 60's. We speak no Spanish. This was our first time in Chile. We rented a car at Santiago airport and drove up to Limache. We arrived at Quinta Escondida and appreciated the quiet and ability to relax from a full two days of traveling. The grounds are beautiful with a pool and several sitting areas. The apartment is furnished with everything we needed to cook with. The private terrace off the living room was used to watch gorgeous sunsets and enjoy our wine. Natasha gave us travel trips and itinerary choices around the Limache area. She shared the fresh fruit she grows and there was a plate of fruit in the apt when we arrived. We went to the local farmers market with her and enjoyed a walk downtown to a local bakery. This visit at Quinta Escondida was a great way to start our visit in Chile and with Natasha's expertise and help to plan the rest of our trip."

Chile Travel Tips

Getting to Chile Vacation Rentals

The main travel hub in Chile is the capital city of Santiago. The national Chilean carrier is the primary airline that operates into Santiago and provides regional and domestic connections within South America. If you are traveling from further afield, such as North America or Europe, you will possibly need to route via Sao Paolo or Buenos Aires before getting a connection on to Santiago. If you are traveling domestically within Chile, you may consider looking into the air passes that are offered from time to time by the airlines. These passes provide you with a far more affordable way to get around rather than purchasing point-to-point flights.

Chile Travel Attractions and Activities

Chile runs almost the full length of the western coast of South America. The landscape is dominated by the Andes Mountains and beautiful coastline. With these natural attractions, there are many outdoor recreational activities available for visitors.

The ski resorts in Chile are ranked as some of the best in the world. National ski teams from Europe and North America frequently spend their summer training months in Chile to hone their skills. There are a vast number of resorts. Some of the most popular are located just a short drive from Santiago. Smaller resorts can be found all the way down to Patagonia and very popular with the locals.

Trekking and mountaineering are other popular pastimes. Climbing in the Andes can be challenging and very technical in parts. Patagonia is well known for its excellent routes and climbers travel from all over the world to test their skills on the terrain. It is not a place for inexperienced mountaineers or climbers. The terrain and the climate are harsh and mistakes can be fatal. Chile has a well-established mountain rescue organization that provides support to climbers if they run into trouble. When trekking, ensure you have their number handy so you can get in touch with them if needed.

If you enjoy water sports, a great excursion is to go sea kayaking along the coast. See dolphins and possibly even whales in season. The coastline is spectacularly beautiful and when kayaking, you can get up close to birds, seals and other marine life.

If you enjoy culture and history, there are many museums to visit in Santiago and other major cities. While Chile once had many beautiful building displaying colonial architecture, many have been damaged or destroyed by the earthquakes that frequently rock the country.

Best Time of Year to Visit Chile Vacation Houses

If you plan to go skiing or mountaineering, the best time of year to visit is during the colder winter months. The winter season starts in May and snowfalls are usually consistent enough for the ski resorts to open in early June. The ski season typically runs through August or September, depending on snowfall and temperatures. If you want to enjoy the coastline and many beautiful beaches, the ideal time to visit would be during the warmer summer months which run from October through April.

Vina del Mar Vacation Rentals in Chile

Many tourists, both local and foreign, flock here each year to enjoy the sunshine and wide variety of water sports available.
